Greek Cup Final to be Played Behind Closed Doors - 06/05/2019
Source : https://greece.greekreporter.com/
The Greek government announced on Monday that supporters of football clubs PAOK and AEK will not be allowed to attend the Cup final scheduled for Saturday, May 11, citing security concerns.
Deputy Minister for Sports Giorgos Vassiliadis acknowledged in a statement that the authorities are unable to ensure the security of the final, citing recent tension between hardcore fans of the two clubs.
The unusual decision follows violent clashes between PAOK and AEK hooligans in the two previous finals of the Cup, in Volos in 2017 and at the Olympic Stadium itself in 2018.
There will only be several hundred invitations forwarded to each club – reports speak of as many as 500 each – and another set given to the Hellenic Football Federation for its own commitments. Up to 1,500 people are expected to watch the final from the stands.

PAOK - AEK - Greek Cup Final - 11/05/2019
Source : http://www.ekathimerini.com/
The match was quite entertaining for the 900 fans and the 3,000 police officers in the stadium for fear of hooligan clashes, such as those in the previous finals between the two teams, in 2017 in Volos and last year in Athens.
Even though no more than 120 invitations were handed to each finalist, it appeared that many of the 600 invitations distributed by the Hellenic Football Federation had ended up in the hands of hardcore PAOK supporters. Seated at the VIP area of the Olympic Stadium they caused some trouble before the game, clashing with riot police.
Twenty minutes before kick-off the police demanded their departure from that stand so that they would go and sit where the invitations to PAOK fans were destined for. They did not move and the match started an d ended without any further problems.
The run-up to the final was also marred by fan action, with AEK supporters on motorbikes clashing with police late on Friday and several bangers hurled at the hotel where the PAOK squad rested before the final in Athens.

FC Luzern - Grasshopper Zürich - 12/05/2019
Source : https://www.mountroyalsoccer.com/
Today in Luzern, traditional powerhouse club Grasshoppers Zurich, the most titled in the country with 27 Championships, were relegated for the first time in 70 years.
This afternoon with their side 0-4 down at Luzern after 66 mins, and relegation now a certainty, the GCZ fans moved pitch-side, threatening to storm the playing area. Their actions made it impossible to continue the game safely and referee Alessandro Dudic called a halt, lasting 20 minutes. The match was abandoned after this, as a resolution could not be reached.
The fans demanded the players hand over both shirts and socks and that they should crawl back to the changing room like dogs, cautiously and submissively, in just their shorts (at least the intention was to keep it decent !).

OM - Lyon - 12/05/2019
Source : https://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/
Tension was high in the stands of the Vélodrome and around the stadium, even before the match, as demonstrated by the stoning of the Lyon players' bus, whose outer part of the vehicle's front right double-glazing was largely broken by several projectiles.

Mocking their team’s mediocre results and the “Champions League Project” devised by American owner Frank McCourt to take the club back to the summit of French soccer, Marseille fans displayed a series of ironic banners before the match.
The loss at the Velodrome Stadium left Marseille seven points behind fourth-place Saint-Etienne, meaning the 1993 European Champions have missed out on a European spot.

Attempt to invade the terrain and tension around the Velodrome
After Olympique Lyonnais' third goal against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday night and after OL's 3-0 victory, the home side of the Marseille fans tried to invade the Vélodrome pitch. Clashes with police continued around the stadium. Furious against the game offered by Olympique Marseille, Phocaeans fans first tried to invade the field after the third and final goal of the victory of Olympique Lyonnais 3-0 at the Vélodrome, before continuing the clashes with the police outside the stadium.
A first attempt in the 87th minute
"Direction resignation", "Garcia resignation": it is under these slogans shouted by the public that some of the members of Fanatics, Dodgers and MTP (Marseille almighty) rushed down their platform, trying to 'break the barriers of separation with the lawn in the 87th minute of the meeting, before being stopped by dozens of stewards and members of the police.
Smoke on the lawn
After finally breaking through the barrier a few minutes after the final whistle, OM supporters were thrown to the top of the podium with tear gas grenades. "Better than 1,000 fumis a rotten season," claimed a banner Fanatics, while just a few smoke began to fly on the lawn, since the two corners.
Clashes around the stadium
After long strains of tension in the stadium, in the two corners, where the OM supporters' clubs are, the skirmishes continued around the Velodrome. More than an hour after the end of the match, dozens of supporters continued their face-to-face with police on the forecourt Jean-Bouin, facing the Boulevard Michelet. Jets of smoke, glass bottles, pebbles and various projectiles on the side of the supporters, at the bottom of the steps, response with tear gas canisters on the police side, positioned at the top of the grand staircase to the stadium.
Lacrimation also on the forecourt of the Velodrome, where the tension is clear.
After the meeting between OM and OL, clashes broke out in front of the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille. CRS used tear gas. For the moment, 7 people have been arrested.
Some supporters tried to force the glass doors giving access to the lounges and locker rooms of the club, many supporters of the presidential stand were for a moment confined to the stadium, before being able to go out. At least seven people were arrested by the police.

Celtic fan, 17, battered by 'two Rangers supporters' in horror Old Firm attack
Police say the teenager was punched in the wake of Rangers' 2-0 win over their bitter Scottish Premiership rivals on Sunday.
He was then booted as he lay on the ground at around 2pm, reports the Daily Record.
Officers say they believe the attack, in Johnstone, was led by two culprits wearing Rangers shirts.
Inspector Jim Cast said: "A 17-year-old male suffered minor injuries when he was assaulted by two men outside Johnstone Town Hall at around 2pm on Sunday.
"The victim was wearing a Celtic top and his two attackers were wearing Rangers tops, so we believe this incident is directly linked to football.
"Anyone should be able to go about their business, including enjoying watching football, without fear of being attacked."
Prior to the game, football fans were reportedly attacked by a gang near Ibrox Stadium.
Two men, aged 51 and 23, suffered facial injuries after an attack outside a Rangers bar fan event.
Gers fans had gathered at the Wee Rangers Club, before the duo were attakced by a "large gang".
Detective Constable Mark Hendry said: "Our enquiries into this incident are at an early stage and we are carrying out enquiries and gathering CCTV footage to establish more information on the circumstances surrounding this incident and identify those involved.
"At this time, I would ask anyone who was in the area who saw this incident take place, or anyone who was driving by who has dash-cam footage to contact us."
It is not currently clear who the attackers were, or what their motive was.
But one Gers fan said in a forum the duo were attacked "by a large gang, some of them armed with knives".
They added: "They attacked some fans who had gone outside for a smoke."
