The German FA has ruled that third-division Zwickau FC forfeit a match after a fan threw beer at a referee.

Last month's game against Rot Weiss Essen at Zwickau Stadium was locked 1-1 at half-time when a home supporter hurled the full beaker of beer at referee Nicolas Winter.

The referee suspended the game immediately, and on Tuesday, the German FA ruled the fixture should be considered a 2-0 win for Essen.

A statement read that Zwickau had to ensure "the referee is better protected on the way to the dressing room" and the club "is responsible for their spectators and the fault of supporters is to be attributed to the club."

Zwickau sit last in the third division, four points from safety, with four matches remaining this season. The three points send Essen six clear of the relegation places.

Fan treatment of referees has become a flash point in Germany following a number of incidents in recent weeks.

On Sunday, referee Sascha Stegemann, who failed to award a penalty in Borussia Dortmund's 1-1 draw at Bochum on Friday and later apologized, launched a criminal complaint after threats by fans.

Stegemann said on German TV on Sunday "my family and I were threatened very specifically. I have seen (these threats) myself and have filed a criminal complaint accordingly."

Hooligans attacked Alexey Shved in Moscow, leaving the Russian basketball player with "a serious head injury," his club CSKA Moscow said on Tuesday.

"Our team's guard Alexey Shved suffered from a hooligan attack committed on him last night at the exit of one of the Moscow restaurants.

"Alexey suffered a serious head injury as a result of a fall and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. The player contacted the police to investigate the incident," CSKA Moscow said in a statement.

The Russian club said Shved cannot play in the next games of CSKA Moscow for the head injury and wished him recovery.

The 34-year-old player is in his second spell with CSKA Moscow. He previously played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, and New York Knicks in the NBA.

He was a Khimki Moscow guard in 2015-2021.

Shved won the 2008 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title with CSKA Moscow and helped the Russian national team secure bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Football fans arrested for violent behaviour after match

Six young football fans were arrested following Saturday night’s championship match after engaging in violent behaviour in a nearby car park.

The incident occurred around 5pm on Saturday, April 29 in a car park near to the stadium and on the A33 near to the KFC restaurant in Reading Gate Retail Park.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses who may have been present during the incident of array.

The six males, who have now been released were between the ages of 13 and 23.

PC Steve Mountain said: “This incident occurred at the conclusion of Saturday’s Championship match between Reading and Wigan Athletic.

“Sadly, a number of individuals engaged in an incident of violent disorder and several arrests were made.

“Although this incident involved a minority of spectators from the game, it was a significant incident of disorder, and we are investigating the circumstances.

“I would appeal to anybody who witnessed the incident or who may have mobile phone or dash-cam footage of the incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“You can do so by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43230186691.”

Paris Saint-Germain have ordered extra security at the club's training ground and at the homes of Lionel Messi and Neymar after protests by fans angry over recent results at the Ligue 1 leaders, sources close to the club told AFP on Thursday.

Several hundred PSG supporters gathered outside club headquarters on Wednesday evening where they set off smoke flares and sang hostile chants about underperforming stars Messi, Neymar and Italian midfielder Marco Verratti.

Some of them, dressed in black, then travelled to Neymar's home in a wealthy suburb west of Paris where they chanted "Neymar, get lost".

"Paris Saint-Germain condemns in the strongest possible terms the unacceptable and insulting actions of a small group of individuals," a club statement said on Wednesday evening.

"Whatever the differences of opinion, nothing justifies such behaviour."

Neymar, who has been plagued by injuries at PSG and is out until the end of the season, reacted by writing on Instagram: "Don't let people put you in their storm. Put them in your peace."

The club decided to boost security at its training ground and outside the homes of the players singled out during the protests, two sources told AFP, asking not to be named.

Some of the fans had indicated "they wanted to do the same thing every evening," one of the sources said.

The protesters left "calmly, several minutes after their arrival" without any clashes with police, the source added.

Paris Saint-Germain have condemned the fans who protested outside Neymar’s home.

A group of supporters gathered outside of the Brazilian star’s home and chanted for him to ‘fuck off’ and leave the club.

The action of those supporters did not go down well with the club who backed the 31-year-old star in a statement that read: “Paris Saint-Germain most strongly condemns the intolerable and insulting actions of a small group of individuals that took place on Wednesday.

“Whatever the differences of opinion, nothing justifies such actions.

“The club gives its full support to its players, its staff and all those targeted by such shameful behaviour.”

Neymar isn’t the only PSG star to face backlash this week with Lionel Messi also in the firing line from the club’s hardcore support.

Fans were outraged when Messi was handed a two-week suspension for an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia.

More than 200 people were injured during a wild night of celebrations after Napoli won their first Serie A title in 33 years.

Scores of fans raced onto the pitch at the Friuli stadium in Udine after the final whistle blew and used their belts to beat each other in violent scenes. Men were seen cowering on the floor and covering their heads in an effort to avoid the blows.

At least 203 people ended up in hospital overnight for injuries sustained during the celebrations - from knife wounds to burns from firecrackers and asthma attacks caused by inhaling smoke from flares.

Police said Vincenzo Costanzo, 26, was shot dead in a crowd in Naples.

Over 150 football fans arrested for chanting anti-Semitic songs in Amsterdam

Dutch police arrested 154 football fans on Saturday for chanting anti-Semitic chants in the metro.

The fans supporting AZ Alkmaar were on their way to the watch the team play Jewish-associated club Ajax in Amsterdam.

The metro train was brought to a halt at around 7:30 pm. The police said the fans were repeatedly told to stop. They were finally arrested for collective insult.

According to AT5 radio, the 154 supporters arrested were from Alkmaar, which the police did not confirm.

Ajax Amsterdam is often associated with the city’s Jewish community, not least because some of its leaders and players in the 1960s and 70s were Jewish.

The chairman of the central Jewish body, Chanan Hertzberger, expressed his gratitude to the police.

Paris Saint-Germain have cancelled the match tickets of 450 ultras ahead of their league game against Troyes, it has been claimed.

Ultras had gathered outside PSG's headquarters during the week, where they launched into a foul-mouthed chant against World Cup winner Messi, while others travelled to the house of Brazil star Neymar. Both players could leave the club in the summer, with Mirror Football exclusively revealing the French club are no longer prioritising a new deal for Messi.

According to RMC Sport, some 450 members of the Collectif Ultras Paris group have been blocked from attending the Troyes game.
