Hooligans attack 19-year-old fan after the game

Sunday evening’s football match between Apollon and APOEL teams was marked by several incidents of violence with a 19-year-old fan being attacked by a group of supporters of the opposing club.

Just before getting into in his car at the end of the match, he was attacked by a group of ten hooligans of the opposing team and as a result, his car was damaged and his jaw broken. The 19-year-old was taken to a private clinic in Limassol.

At the same time, Police arrested one person for illegal possession of drugs and seized a backpack containing fireworks which were found inside the stadium.

The backpack was found hidden in the restroom area, in the stands of the stadium, with 53 smoke grenades and nine flares inside.

Moreover, when the fans of the two teams arrived at the stadium, fans of one team made threatening gestures towards the fans of the other team.

Members of the anti-riot police intervened immediately with the use of the anti-riot vehicle.

Nonetheless, at the end of the match, supporters of one team broke a number of seats in the stand and threw them into the pitch, while damaging the walls of the stadium.

Due to years of high tension between Lębork and Słupsk supporters, the match was guarded by an unusually high number of police officers (250), for this amateur division. The Gdańsk police came to help, dogs and a water cannon were also used for the game

120 Słupsk supporters were present, reinforced by their friends from Chojnice and Bydgoszcz.

During the match, in the stands on both sides, flares and firecrackers were thrown.

Two Słupsk supporters, aged 34 and 35, were taken into custody. In addition, the police identified the identities of 130 violent fans.

Thirty ultras from Parma attacked the buses of the Venice supporters, with smoke bombs and firecrackers, transporting them, half an hour after the end of the match, to the Tardini stadium. The ultra visitors tried to break the door of the bus, to get down to fight. The police intervened.

Visiting supporters used a lot of smoke bombs and set off firecrackers during the match, which was interrupted several times.

After the game, the fans of St. Gallen provoked incidents against the police. Various objects including firecrackers, bottles and rocks were thrown at law enforcement who responded with rubber bullets, water cannons and tear gas. Four people were injured.

The situation then calmed down and FC St. Gallen supporters boarded the additional trains waiting for them and left the station after midnight.

Cyprus police use tear gas, clash with violent football fans

Cyprus police used tear gas to disperse dozens of football fans who attacked them following the end of the island nation’s league cup final.

Before the final between Omonia Nicosia and AEL Limassol on Wednesday at Nicosia GSP Stadium, police arrested six people for possession of fireworks, while a search of the stadium parking lot turned up a bag containing four Molotov cocktails.

Police then arrested a 16-year-old riding a stolen moped on suspicion of being among 60 other AEL fans who pelted police with fireworks and Molotov cocktails outside the AEL clubhouse in Limassol.

The fans set fire to plastic garbage bins and a nearby car and dispersed because of the teargas.

A 25-year-old driver of a vehicle near the clashes was also arrested for illegal possession and transport of 254 shotgun shells.

In Nicosia, fans threw rocks at police, but no arrests were made.

One officer was slightly hurt on his foot during the Limassol clashes. In total, some 350 officers were deployed to police the final which Omonia won 1-0 for its 16th League Cup.

After a big fight two weeks ago, involving around 80 people, a new episode of violence between TSV 1860 and Bayern fans has taken place. This time, it was those of 1860 who attacked their rivals.

According to the police, the new brawl broke out on Wednesday evening, around 9 p.m., on Wettersteinplatz, in the district of Giesing.

About 40-50 Bayern fans were attacked by 20-30 rivals from 1860. The confrontation was very brief. A 20-year-old Bayern fan suffered minor injuries.
