Four police hurt in clashes with Saint-Etienne ultras
Four French police officers were hurt during clashes outside Saint-Etienne's stadium after Monaco crushed the home team, police and local government said on Saturday. The Ligue 1 game was played on Friday with the two stands behind the goals in the Stade Geoffroy Guichard closed as punishment for incidents involving Saint-Etienne's ultras during another heavy home defeat in the derby against Lyon on November 5th.
After the match in the central city on Friday, which Saint-Etienne lost 4-0, police said around 200 people gathered outside the entry to the stadium looking for trouble and vandalising property. The ultras started throwing stones at police, who responded by firing teargas grenades.
Among the police who drove the crowd away, two were taken to hospital for treatment, one of them with a hand injury which is expected to keep him off duty for three weeks.
The only supporter arrested, a 21-year-old, was held overnight and was due in court in Saint-Etienne on Saturday afternoon on charges of throwing a projectile at the police.

BELGRADE’S BLOODY DERBY: CROATS PAID TO CREATE CHAOS DURING GAME - 18/12/2017
Source : https://inserbia.info/
26 persons were detained late on last Wednesday, while a number have been injured during the violence that broke out at the Partizan-Red Star football match. A large scale fight broke out in Partizan stadium’s south stands, resulting in the police escorting a group of battered young men, some of whom were stripped naked, outside the venue.
Unofficially, two groups of Partizan supporters fought among themselves, in an attempt to establish “supremacy in the stands.”
The Interior Ministry (MUP) announced this on Thursday, adding that it was ordered by the prosecution to identify the persons who took part in the incidents.
Among those injured in the fighting in Belgrade last night were several foreign nationals, the MUP said. Unofficially, they came from Croatia, Greece, and Macedonia.
Three of the six Croats detained for taking part in a mass hooligan fight during the game were paid to do that. The daily Blic is reporting this on Friday, adding that one of them also carried “enough narcotics to put him in jail for several years.”
According to the newspaper, the three Croats, who came from the town of Split – Ante Firic and Damir Tovarovic among them – received EUR 10,000 to come to Belgrade and fight.
The paper’s source with the Interior Ministry (MUP) did not wish to reveal who made the payment, to avoid influencing the investigation.
Another Belgrade daily, Vecernje Novosti, writes on Friday that at least 100 people took part in organizing the fight that took place during the 156th football derby in the capital. According to this report, “some foreign services, whose members have lately significantly increased their presence in our country,” were also involved.
Ante Firic was seriously injured during the incidents and is now being treated at Belgrade’s military clinic VMA, for a stab wound in his back and a haematoma on his brain. According to available information, he has several convictions for racketeering, and is known in Croatia for brutally beating a restaurateur from the island of Hvar, Frano Zuvelo, along with his brother Sandro Firic.
The daily said that at least six Croatian citizens took part in the rioting, including Damir Tovarovic, a former Croatian martial arts champion.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic reacted to the violence in Belgrade by saying that “all those who took part organizing and causing it” would be held responsible, including any citizens of Croatia.
In Zagreb, the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry announced that four Croatian citizens participated in the rioting.

Coventry City - Cheltenham Town - 16/12/2017
Source : http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/
Investigation launched after fans and stewards clash at Coventry City match
Police and Coventry City are investigating an alleged incident involving a fan and a matchday steward at Saturday’s Ricoh Arena clash with Cheltenham Town.
It is alleged that a steward and a supporter who was holding a small child clashed at the back of Singers Corner, sparking scuffles and the police being called into action.
A spokesman for the club said: “ Coventry City and the Ricoh Arena are aware of reports of an incident at half-time during the game against Cheltenham Town on Saturday 16th December.
“There is both an internal and police investigation into the actions of all parties, and as such we cannot make any further comment at this time.”
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We can confirm that a report has been made to police about an incident that took place at the Coventry Cheltenham match. Investigations are on-going.”
It is understood that Police, football club officials and senior Ricoh Arena security staff have viewed CCTV footage of the incident.
Season ticket holder of 35 years, Stratford businessman Roger Smith, aged 50, witnessed the incident.
He said: “I have to say I have never experienced anything like this before.
“There are quite a few fans who like to go out at half-time for a cigarette and they usually stand there having a bit of a sing song. The next thing I saw was this guy who was carrying a child, probably aged five or six, and suddenly a load of shouting started.”
