Standard Liege thump Panathinaikos in their own backyard amid horrible scenes as Liege fans clash with police
STANDARD LIEGE thumped Panathinaikos 3-0 to win their first Europa League game of the group but their fans will be the talking point of the evening.
Ugly scenes erupted from inside the Apostolos Nikolaidis stadium as Liege fans and riot police went to battle in the stands with many officers injured in the disturbing events.
A mass of bodies fought on the terraces as police armed with batons and shields tried to restore order but the Belgians were no push over and went straight for the police.
Many arrests were made, but Uefa are bound to investigate the situation and how it escalated so quickly with it ending up a near blood bath.

Birmingham City v Aston Villa: Fan 'pushed over by police' - 02/11/2016
Source : http://www.bbc.com/
A video appearing to show police officers pushing a football fan to the ground is being investigated.
The footage was recorded as fans walked home from a Championship clash between Aston Villa and Birmingham City on Sunday. Reiss Mahon said his father Rodney was set upon by officers "without provocation". West Midlands Police said it would take action if officers had acted inappropriately. Birmingham City fan Mr Mahon, said he was walking "calmly" with his father and brother Callum on a footpath near City's St Andrew's ground when it happened. "I have never seen anything like it in my life," said the 22-year-old, from Rugby. "It [The police behaviour] was completely unacceptable." As well as hurting his elbow, Mr Mahon said his father, in his 40s, hit his head on the floor in the fall and suffered a gash on his leg. He said his father, who has had to take time off from his job as a warehouse worker, went to see a doctor and was told he may have chipped his elbow. The video, taken by Scott Findlay, has been shared dozens of times on social media. Ch Insp Brian Carmichael, from West Midlands Police's standards department, said: "The circumstances surrounding the incident and actions of the officers involved will be investigated…we expect the highest standards from all our staff and anyone found to have acted inappropriately will face disciplinary action." Officers arrested 14 people during the afternoon, on suspicion of a range of offences including violent disorder, pitch encroachment and affray. The match marked the first time the second city rivals had met in a league game for five years and followed Villa's relegation to The Championship. It finished 1-1 after goals from Gary Gardner and David Davis.

Italian fans claim victimization by Turkish police at Champions League game - 05/11/2016
Source : https://www.rt.com/
Napoli supporters have hit out at their treatment at the hands of Turkish police before Tuesday’s Champions League game against Besiktas in Istanbul. The fans claim they were robbed by officers, who then turned a blind eye to followers of the home team attacking them.
One Napoli supporter was reportedly stabbed in the buttocks, while several others were arrested as police allegedly victimized the visiting fans.
Clashes were also filmed at the train station before the game.
“From the moment we arrived in the airport, we noticed the hostility of the police,” 26-year-old Gennaro told the Newspaper Il Mattino.
“The incidents followed in the center of Istanbul and outside the stadium, where some of us were stopped without reason, held and subjected to genuine interrogations, as if we were terrorists,” he said.
Fellow supporter Paolo added: “The station was full of police, both plain clothes and in uniform, but when our friend was attacked nobody intervened.”
Other fans claimed they were subjected to an over-the-top security inspection as they entered the stadium, with people forced to empty their personal belongings into a transparent plastic box.
“We had to hand over coins and even cigarettes and lighters,” said two other supporters.
“They then made us remove our belts and put those into the box too. We were told we’d have them back as we exited the stadium.
“Once in the stands, we saw the same policemen smoking our cigarettes and mocking us. At the end of the match, the box with our belongings in it had disappeared.”

West Ham fans hit out at police for obscuring view inside London Stadium
Police have flooded the London Stadium this afternoon after a series of bloody clashes in recent weeks.
Last week’s violence as the Hammers met Chelsea in the EFL Cup looked likely to be the final straw, with owners promising “zero tolerance”.
But during today’s Premier League fixture against Stoke City, furious supporters hit out at police for blocking their view.
Supporters took to Twitter to vent their frustration – claiming security staff would not “leave them alone” and ruined the game.
One Twitter user wrote: "How can I sit down because they're in the way?"
Home and away fans both noted the impact on the atmosphere, with football fans labelling the game as “flat”.
It comes after “angry” fans were prevented entry before 2pm.
The stadium operator has been forced to apologise – blaming technical issues for the delay.
Fans of both clubs took to social media to vent their fury.
Stewards were given hand-held video cameras in a bid to deter further trouble.
In their programme notes today, Hammers co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold said “lessons have been learned”.

Unhappy Nantes fans try to invade president’s box
The end of the French Ligue 1 match between Nantes and Toulouse on Saturday was marred by trouble as unhappy home supporters tried to get into the president’s box.
A small group of supporters came from one end of the Stade de la Beaujoire and bypassed security as they attempted to get into the box containing Nantes president Waldemar Kita and his son Franck, the club’s director general.
The Kitas and their family were immediately shepherded by police to safety into a lounge inside the stadium while riot police intervened to beat back the would-be invaders.
Spectators caught up in the trouble left their seats to seek shelter by the pitch but many would have missed the home team’s 90th-minute equaliser scored by Polish striker Mariusz Stepinski as Nantes and Toulouse drew 1-1. The incident was an example of the discontent among some Nantes supporters as their club — eight-time French champions — struggles to rediscover past glories.
They have not finished higher than 13th in Ligue 1 since 2004 and currently sit 15th, two points above the relegation zone.
