Spartak Moscow - CSKA Moscow - 29/10/2016

Moscow derby marred by crowd trouble as Spartak and CSKA fans throw flares into rival sections

Crowd trouble marred Saturday's Moscow derby between arch rivals Spartak and CSKA, with the Russian Premier League game briefly stopped as flares were thrown into rival groups of supporters.
Referee Aleksei Nikolaev halted the match for five minutes in the second half as the Otkrytie Arena filled with smoke from flares during one of Russian football's most intense rivalries.
There were no reports of injuries related to the incident, which appeared to start when CSKA fans threw flares and other pyrotechnics were thrown into a Spartak section. Some were then thrown back at CSKA supporters.

Steel fences between the sections containing Spartak and CSKA fans prevented fights at the stadium, which will be a venue for the 2018 World Cup.
It is believed that visiting fans of CSKA sparked off the incident by throwing the first flare through the mesh netting into the home section.
Spartak coach Massimo Carrera said the CSKA fans' behaviour 'spoiled the atmosphere a bit,' but both sides are now likely to face sanctions from the Russian Football Union.
There were also reports of fights between fans from rival teams at various locations in the Moscow metro system before the game, though the large police presence appeared to prevent major disorder.

Ireland : Bohemians FC - Shamrock Rovers - 07/10/2016

Source : http://www.mirror.co.uk/

Brutal fight between 'football hooligans' spills onto streets as supporters clash amid fierce rivalry

Football hooligans threw punches and smashed glass as a mass brawl erupted onto the streets of Dublin.

A fight broke out after Wrexham supporters allegedly posed as rival Bury supporters and convinced staff at a Dublin hotel to give them a flag brought over by their English rivals.

The flag was then ripped up during the match in Dalymount Park and ended up in the hands of unwitting Bohs players, according to reports on Ireland’s Sunday World website.

Shocking footage of the fight shows punches being thrown and glass smashing as the two sides scream at each other, while terrified members of the public flee from the scene.

A video shows rival gangs of supporters, including Dragons and Bury FC fans, clashing in the street of the Irish capital, on Friday, October 7, following Shamrock Rovers’ defeat to Bohemians in a League of Ireland match.

Wrexham supporters have formed allegiances with Bohs fans while Bury FC supporters have alliances with Rovers and they travel to each other's games, according to the Daily Post .

The trouble flared after undercover Wrexham fans posing as Bury supporters reportedly convinced staff at a Dublin hotel to give them a flag brought over by their English rivals.

According to reports on Ireland’s Sunday World website, it was ripped up during the match in Dalymount and ended up in the hands of unwitting Bohs players.

A video recorded by Sérgio Reis Filho of the subsequent clash on Dorset Street, appeared on the Living Dublin Altogether Facebook page.

The frightening fight scenes were branded “Not funny this time: Fight between gangs last night on Dorset Street” by the page’s organisers.

Sources have told the Daily Post it was Wrexham hooligans who stole the flag and were involved in the violence.

Bohs and Rovers fans are renowned for having one of the most intense rivalries in Irish football, which has sometimes spilled over into violence.

Wrexham’s alliance with the Bohs goes back about 10 years.

A spokesman for the Irish police force Garda said: “While we are aware of a disturbance, there were no arrests or reports of anyone injured.”

Wrexham AFC declined to comment.

North Wales Police say they have not been informed about the incident.

Argentina : Guarani Antonio Franco - Sportivo Patria  - 24/10/2016

Football stadium erupts into violent brawl as rival hooligans clash and fan beaten unconscious

Football hooligans were caught on camera staging a violent mass brawl in a stadium during a crunch match.

Several were injured and two fans had to be rushed to hospital as tempers escalated between groups of Guarani Antonio Franco and Sportivo Patria supporters in Argentina.

Footage, now going viral online, shows the moment a fan was brutally beaten unconscious in Guarani’s Clemente Fernandez de Oliveira Stadium .

According to local media, the lower-league home team - based in the city of Posadas, in the north-eastern Argentine province of Misiones - were fighting for promotion into the second division.

The atmosphere was tense and things started to heat up as soon as the away side scored in the fourth minute, reports said.

Video footage recorded by fans in other parts of the stadium shows the two clashing several times as hooligans punch and kick each other.

According to local reports, two fans identified as brothers Maximiliano, 21, and Nestor Veron, 37, were seriously injured.

Both siblings, one of which was the individual who was knocked out in the footage, needed to be carried away from harm’s way by their peers.

The extent of their injuries remains unclear, however they were transferred to a nearby hospital where their wounds were treated.

Stadium security reportedly intervened in the minutes that followed and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Chile : Universidad Catolica - Audax Italiano - 29/10/2016

Sebastian Pol faces jail after attacking rival fan with an Eric Cantona-style kick

An Argentine football player has landed himself in hot water after launching an Eric Cantona-style kick on a rival team supporter.
Former Manchester United star Cantona shocked the football world back in 1995 with a kung-fu lunge on Crystal Palace fan Matthew Simmons which earned him an eight-month ban.
And now Audax Italiano striker Sebastian Pol could be handed a similar suspension - and prosecution - after incredibly assaulting a rival supporter after a league match in Chile.

TV cameras captured the moment the 28-year-old confronted the fan and kicked him full in the face just moments his team's 4-1 defeat to Club Deportivo Universidad Catolica on Saturday.
He was later pictured being led away by police who arrested him in the dressing room and took him into custody.
He bowed his head but appeared to smirk as he was escorted out of the stadium.

Pol, who comes from the Argentine city of Mendoza, lashed out after his side's heavy defeat.
He climbed onto railings by the team dugout before launching his Cantona-style attack.
Cristobal Aztorquiza, the fan who was attacked, said afterwards: 'He kicked me in the face. He climbed onto the railings and attacked me. I'm going to file a formal complaint.'
Pol could now face up to two years in jail if convicted under a law designed to eradicate stadium violence in Chile.

Birmingham City - Aston Villa - 30/10/2016

Source : Mirror

The West Midlands Police took to the air in order to monitor potential flashpoints ahead of yesterday's Second City derby

West Midlands Police used drones to monitor hooligans and identify trouble spots for yesterday's Second City derby.

Birmingham City and Aston Villa played out a 1-1 draw at St Andrew's on Sunday afternoon and local police sent a drone to the skies for the first time in order to assist with their match day operations.

Aviation rules prohibited the device from flying above St Andrew's stadium and it was not allowed to get too close to residential properties, but it was able to inspect areas that were known flashpoints from heights of 400ft.

The two local rivals were meeting for the first time in the league for five years, following Villa's relegation to the Championship last season.

A total of 14 supporters were arrested on Sunday afternoon for a variety of offensives, with the West Yorkshire Police did not disclose how many of these were related to the drone operatation.

The move was part of a wider operation which included "Section 60" stop and search measures.

Camera footage from the drone was relayed back to a police command room and high-definition images were saved to a memory card on the device.

The force have said they will review footage "to take action against those involved in crime who haven't been arrested today".

On the pitch, the home side rescued a point when Blues midfielder David Davis drilled home in the second half to level the scores after Gary Gardner's headed opener.

The stalemate sees Birmingham sitting one place below the playoff spots, while Villa moved up to 15th in the Championship.

Police arrest 14 football fans after second city derby

West Midlands Police have confirmed that 14 football fans have been arrested following the second city derby between Birmingham City and Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

The arrests were for a range of offences including violent disorder, pitch encroachment and affray but police have said that the game, which finished 1-1, passed off without any major disorder.

An investigation has been launched by the police after flares were thrown inside the ground.

A police statement read: "Our robust policing operation saw a highly visible presence of officers in and around the ground to ensure the safety of the public and fans.

"Raids linked to suspected football-related drugs offences were carried out pre-match at three addresses and a 22-year-old man from Tile Cross was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.

"The restricted away fan ticket allocation and the non-sale of alcohol inside the away stand were amongst measures put in place and there was little cross-over between the two sets of fans before and after the game which helped to prevent any confrontations."

The force earlier confirmed they had deployed controversial 'Section 60 powers' before, during and after the game.

The powers, that allow police to stop and search anyone for weapons without reasonable grounds for suspicion , have been criticised by civil liberties groups and the football suppoters' federation in the past.

Match commander, Chief Inspector Nick Rowe, said: "There has been a lot of planning in preparation for this fixture and we are pleased the majority of supporters were able to enjoy the game in a safe environment.

"Overall there was a fantastic atmosphere with two sets of great fans, the majority of fans embraced the feel-good factor of the day and were well-behaved.

“It was disappointing to have some disorder but we were able to react quickly and make arrests."

“We will review camera footage from this fixture and will undoubtedly take action against those involved in crime who haven’t been arrested today."

Yenton pub brawl probe continues after man knocked unconscious

Police are continuing to investigate a brawl that broke out inside an Erdington pub after the second city derby between Blues and Villa.

One man was knocked unconscious and a second man suffered a head injury at The Yenton pub, in Sutton Road, just before 4pm on Sunday afternoon.

There had been claims on social media that trouble had broken out between rival fans, but West Midlands Police said the incident was currently being treated as an assault that was not football related.

A spokeswoman said investigations are ongoing and no arrests have yet been made.

West Midlands Ambulance Service received five calls about the incident at 3.57pm.

A spokeswoman said: “We received calls about a large fight at The Yenton pub in Erdington and sent two ambulances to the scene.

“A 30-year-old gentleman suffered facial injuries and is thought to have been knocked unconscious. He was taken to Good Hope Hospital.

“A second patient, a 26-year-old male, suffered a head injury and was taken to Good Hope Hospital.”

Police confirmed that eyewitnesses had claimed that a knife was brandished during the disorder.

A Villa fan who was inside the pub when trouble broke out said the brawl had ruined the day for him and many of the fans inside.

The fan, who did not want to be named, said: “I was at the bar getting drinks when I heard a lot of shouting behind me. I looked back and could see a lot of pushing and shoving.

“I have no idea who was involved, or what it was about, but there were kids inside when this happened.

“We were kept inside and told by the bouncers that we could not leave.

“I didn’t see a knife myself, but we heard that somebody had pulled one out.”

A spokesman added: “Police were called to the Yenton Pub on Sutton Road at 3.55pm on Sunday October 30.

“A brawl had broken out inside after a man was punched. No weapons were used although witnesses told officers at the scene they saw a knife being brandished.

“No arrests were made at the time and the victim has not made an official complaint to police.”
