Scotland : Police release images of 13 men sought over Hampden violence - 02/07/2016
Source : http://www.stv.tv
Police investigating the trouble which marred the end of the Scottish Cup final have released pictures of 13 men they want to trace over violence, disorder and vandalism.
So far 38 arrests have been made across Scotland since the match between Hibernian and Rangers on May 21.
Hibs supporters flooded the Hampden pitch after the Edinburgh side's dramatic 3-2 win, while Rangers fans also made it past stewards and on to the turf before mounted officers restored order.
In the latest police operation, four men were arrested in Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Edinburgh on Thursday for alleged assaults and disorder.
Those previously arrested vary in age from 17 to 50. Police Scotland have now released 13 images of fans on the pitch at Hampden as they look to make more arrests.
A force spokesman said: "Police in Glasgow are continuing to investigate acts of violence, disorder and vandalism that took place during the pitch incursion immediately following the final whistle at Hampden Park after the Scottish Cup final on Saturday May 21.
"Police Scotland are releasing images of persons they are keen to trace whom they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

65 England fans arrested in France since start of Euro 2016 - 04/07/2016
Source : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/
Sixty-five England fans were among more than 1,000 football supporters arrested since the start of Euro 2016, France’s Interior Minister has said.
The unusually high figures follow violence at several games, and especially during the match against Russia in Marseille last month.
"Police took considerable measures to prevent trouble," said Bernard Cazeneuve. "Since the beginning of the competition, they’ve processed more than 1,000 arrests, leading to 600 charges and 56 convictions."
Riot police used baton charges and tear gas against hundreds of England and Russian hooligans in Marseille.
Gangs of so-called ‘Ultras’ from Russia were particularly violent, knocking dozens of their enemies out cold, and leaving two in comas.
Despite this, no Russians were present in court when six England fans were jailed and banned from France after appearing in court on June 13, two days after the 1-1 draw.
Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said about 150 Russian hooligans had been involved in the trouble, describing them as "hyper violent" and "hyper fast" as they went on the rampage.
There was further trouble in Lille, where England fans were involved in trouble before their side's game against Wales in nearby Lens.
England’s tournament ended in Nice on June 27 after they were defeated by Iceland, but fans still face arrest.
Offices working for the UK Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) are scouring hours of CCTV footage and social media posts to try and identify troublemakers.
Sixteen alleged hooligans have been served with football banning orders on their arrival back in Britain, while photographs of 100 other suspects have been released by UKFPU.
The bans last a minimum of three years and will prevent the England fans travelling to Russia for the 2018 World Cup.

Germany - Italy - 02/07/2016
Source : http://indianexpress.com/
Police say a few dozen people were slightly injured in the Paris Euro 2016 fan zone when a fight among British fans prompted a rush for safety.
It was the first such incident in the Paris fan zone since the tournament started June 10, and comes amid tensions and high security across the country.
A Paris police official said Sunday that a group of British fans started fighting during extra time in Saturday’s quarterfinal between Germany and Italy. People near the fighting fans moved away, while others ran for the exits, the official said.
The incident lasted barely four minutes and no arrests were made. The injured were treated on site near the Eiffel Tower, said the official, who was not authorized to be publicly named according to police policy.

English football fan stabbed in street after France-Iceland Euro 2016 match in Paris
An English football fan was stabbed in a row in Paris after leaving last night's quarter-final clash between France and Iceland, French media report.
The supporter, said to be 25 years old, was apparently knifed twice in front of his wife outside a bar in the city's 10th arrondisement near the Gare du Nord railway station.
Media reports said the young man had been at the game - which saw France claim a 5-2 victory at the Stade de France - to support Iceland.
French newspaper Le Parisien said the fan was attacked at around 11.30pm following a "verbal dispute".
He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The knifeman, who apparently does not speak French, was then arrested a short time later by an off-duty police officer.
Two knives were also later discovered in waste bins near the scene of the attack on the Rue de Dunkerque.

'Vasily the killer' denies masterminding Marseille violence between Russian Ultras and English fans - 04/07/2016
Source : http://www.mirror.co.uk/
'Vasily the killer' was believed to have orchestrated the sickening scenes following the Euro 2016 match on June 11
A notorious 'Ultra' hooligan from Moscow has denied he was behind the sickening violence between Russian and English fans in Marseille.
'Vasily the killer' was believed to have orchestrated the sickening scenes following the Euro 2016 match on June 11, where England and Russia drew 1-1.
However, he claims he was at home with his four children.
In a Youtube video he brands English fans "animals" and "a drunken rabble crowd of chicken s***", claiming they were attacked because they MOONED the Russian fans.
He added: "Hi, my name is Vasily. I am 37-years-old and I'm a football hooligan."
"I have been trying to distance myself from all football battles," he continued. "The glory is still with me.
"During the eve of the Russia-England football match I was with my family in Moscow's suburbs (I have four kids by the way)."
Two England fans were left fighting for their lives after the riot.
The Russians behind the attack could face charges of attempted murder and life in prison - if they can be found.
Police are searching through 200 hours of CCTV footage in an attempt to find who brutally beat Andrew Bache, 51, and Stewart Gray, 47 in Marseille.
The pair are still in hospital following sickening violence before their team's opening Euro 2016 game on June 11, where England and Russia drew 1-1.
Portsmouth fan Andrew, known as Pepe, was left in coma after several Ultras attacked him with metal bars.
He suffered a cardiac arrest at the scene and was saved by a French riot officer who performed CPR.
Stewart, a Leicester City supporter from Hinckley, was also left in a coma after being attacked.
Police are now hoping to identify those responsible by looking through their own footage and also video taken by the thugs themselves.
French police said the violence was started by a group of 150 “highly trained” Russian Ultras carrying telescopic batons, coshes and knives.
A Marseille prosecutor’s office spokesman told The Sun: “Such facts have led to us investigating an attack on two England fans as attempted murder.
“We are currently interviewing witnesses, and looking through some 200 hours of video footage to find all those responsible.”
England boss Roy Hodgson sent his best wishes to the men, and a third unnamed man, as they recovered from their injuries in the Timone Hospital in Marseille.
Hodgson said: “We feel bad whenever we hear about our fans getting injured in fights, especially in particular with the three still in hospital in Marseille and still critically injured.
“We seriously hope they will recover as soon as possible and their injuries will not be long-lasting.
“That's our hope, our dream. But the reality is it doesn't always work out that way but our attitude towards it remains the same.
“We want England fans to enjoy the football.
“We urge them to be cautious about coming without tickets and we certainly want them to stay out of trouble because we don't like to hear fans are in hospital after being caught up in violence."
Three Russians involved in the violence on June 11 were jailed for up to two years last month, but none of those involved in the most serious assaults have been brought to justice.

Jailed Irish football fan held in Paris prison ‘as example’ - 07/07/2016
Source : http://www.irishtimes.com
David Hunt jailed for eight months in Europe’s largest prison, Fleury-Mérogis
The Irish soccer fan jailed in Paris for eight months is imprisoned in Europe’s largest prison, Fleury-Mérogis, which is known for overcrowding and as a hotbed of Islamic fundamentalism.
The French prosecutor who sentenced David Hunt and his British co-defendant, Stephen Jamnitzky, said he wanted “to make an example” of the two men, according to their court-appointed lawyer, Alexandre Reynaud.
“The prosecutor asked for a heavy sentence,” Mr Reynaud said. “He said he had to make an example, a few days after fights between Russian and English fans in Marseille. Ordinarily, someone with no police record in France would receive a suspended sentence, or at most three or four months for this kind of incident. Eight months is a very severe sentence.”
Hunt and Jamnitzky are both appealing their sentence, but it could take three to four months for their appeal to be heard. “Prison conditions are not good,” Mr Reynaud said.
Prison
He has not seen his clients in prison but has exchanged correspondence with them. “They’re keeping their spirits up, but it’s hard for them. They are worried about the effect on their families.” Both men are single and childless. Hunt is 35 and from Ballinteer in Dublin. Hunt and Jamnitzky, who were in France for the Euro 2016 championship, met at a party in the early hours of June 15th. Both had been drinking. At 6am, they say they were threatened by a third man who they did not know in the Gare du Nord.
Like Jamnitzky, the victim was of Polish origin and lived in Britain. He was also in France for the tournament.
Fight
A fight ensued. Police intervened, and took the three men to a hospital to be examined by a doctor. Mr Reynaud has not yet received the court documents, and did not see the victim or photographs of the victim, but he believes that he was not hospitalised.
The victim did not attend the trial on June 17th.
Mr Reynaud insisted that Mr Hunt was not armed. But he was charged with armed assault because he carried a walking stick for an injured ankle, which police said he used in the fight.
The lawyer met his clients for the first time on the morning of their trial.
“Like everyone in such a situation, they were tired, worried and very upset to find themselves in that situation,” Mr Reynaud said.
“They didn’t understand, because they felt the fight was caused by threatening behaviour and they were only defending themselves. They didn’t understand how it took on such proportions.”

Riot Police Clash With Fans Following France's Win over Germany in Euro Semi-Final
Riot police fired tear gas in clashes with youths on the Champs Elysees avenue in Paris early Friday after France's qualification for the Euro 2016 final, an AFP reporter said.
Police staged several charges at youths who hurled fireworks, bottles, stones and other objects at them. Dustbins were also set on fire.
"We're at home, we're at home," the crowds shouted at officers, who used police vans to block access to the avenue, a popular tourist destination and shopping street leading to the landmark Arc de Triomphe in the French capital.
Crowds booed at police as they moved along the avenue.
Fans who had gathered on the major thoroughfare after hosts France booked their place in the Euro 2016 finals with a 2-0 win over Germany mostly dispersed after the incidents, but some groups were still gathered, especially around the Arc de Triomphe.

France fan dies amid Euro 2016 brawl
A man believed to be in his 60s died on Friday morning as a result of injuries sustained in the aftermath of the Euro 2016 semi-final between France and Germany.
Les Bleus won the all-or-nothing semi-final in Marseille 2-0 thanks to two goals from Antoine Griezmann, yet not for the first time, the match was marred somewhat by violent outbreaks in several locations across the country.
One such clash took place in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of north-eastern France, with reports from the region noting that a French supporter passed away at 5:30am on Friday morning as a result of the injuries sustained in a brawl near a local fan park.
Despite being classed by detectives as an innocent passer-by, the elderly male became embroiled in the violence that started around 11.15pm, shortly after the game had finished.
CCTV footage from the bar where the victim was killed is currently being studied by French investigators, with a police inquiry now underway.
Two people have already been taken into custody pending official questioning.
Trouble was also reported in other cities – including Marseille, where the game took place – as fan celebrations turned ugly.

Police fire water cannon and tear gas on football fans during clashes in Paris
French riot police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse crowds of football supporters trying to enter a packed fan zone to watch the Euro 2016 final match.
Clashes broke out after the screening area in central Paris reached maximum capacity of 90,000 at around 7pm (5pm GMT), police said.
Some fans tried to force their way into the zone, located near the Eiffel Tower, to watch hosts France take on Portugal for the final match.
Water cannons were used on fans during the second half of the match while images also showed some football supporters being chased by riot police.
Fire services were also called to extinguish scooters and rubbish set alight just outside the fan zone.
