Bayern Munich condemn fan attacks on police during Hertha Berlin game
Bayern Munich have condemned supporters who attacked police officers as they attempted to deal with fans who had used flares in the away section during Saturday's game at Hertha Berlin.
German news agency dpa reported that both Bayern and Hertha fans attacked police who tried to take down personal information from two Munich supporters after the use of pyrotechnics during Bayern's 2-0 win at the Olympiastadion.
The report said 27 people were detained temporarily after the clashes, which left six police officers injured, and face charges of breach of the peace.
In a press release on Sunday, Bayern condemned those responsible.
"FC Bayern want to clearly distance themselves from any supporters willing to use violence," Bayern executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said on the club's official website.
"Violence cannot and never should be tolerated. In line with Hertha BSC and the local authorities, FC Bayern will take action against the perpetrators of violence."
Flares are not permitted at stadiums in Germany, although fans around the country regularly chant that the use of pyrotechnics is "not a crime."
Those using flares at games can be issued with stadium bans if police are able to collect their personal information or they are identified by stadium security through video evidence.
In another incident involving fans from both clubs, a 35-year-old man was put in an artificial coma on Saturday, local TV network RBB reported.
The man was said to have tried to intervene in a brawl between Hertha and Bayern fans at a local train station and fell onto the tracks, sustaining severe head injuries.

Heavy riots in the city of Antwerp
Hooligans of Antwerp FC caused riots in the Bosuil area in Antwerp (Deurne) last night, after their football team missed the league title in the second division - and the promotion to the top flight. White Star Brussels were crowned the new champions, but are not sure they will have a licence to compete in the top flight next season. Various policemen were injured during the riots, and the damage is considerable.
The city of Antwerp hasn't had a club in the top flight for years, despite the fact that the city has great potential - Antwerp is Flanders' largest city after Brussels. Beerschot went bankrupt and are fighting to get back to the top, while Antwerp FC - the country's oldest club dubbed 'The Great Old' - just missed their chance yesterday to return to the highest level.
Antwerp had to beat title rivals Eupen in a direct confrontation on the final day of play, but played a nervous game before a sell-out crowd and drew 0-0. Both Antwerp and Eupen missed promotion in this way. The draw allowed White Star, a club from Brussels, to create the big surprise and end in first place. White Star beat Patro Eisden 3-0.
However, it is not sure whether White Star will be granted a license to play in the top flight next season. If White Star can't get the right documents, it's Eupen who will play in the top flight next season.
12 policemen injured, 13 police vans damaged
Dozens of Antwerp supporters found it hard to digest the deadlock, starting heavy riots, seeking a confrontation with the police and causing havoc. 12 police officers got injured and 13 police vans were vandalised. Police spokesman Wouter Bruyns was talking about "unusually heavy violence". Hooligans also sustained injuries, mostly due to internal fighting.
"Several groups of supporters hurled objects towards the police, such as sign posts, fences and even a trailer. They also threw cobblestones, or used them to smash the windows of police vans. One van was set alight", Bruyns explained.
Several rioters were apprehended. "This kind of violence cannot be tolerated", Bruyns said.

Carlisle United have defended their decision to throw out a supporter who vented his anger at the Blues' board at their bad-tempered final home game of the season.
The supporter was forcibly removed from the Paddock terrace by police and safety staff about 15 minutes after he had launched into a tirade against the club's owners.
Some fans were unhappy at the supporter's treatment at the 2-0 defeat to Oxford.

Swedish match abandoned after firework explodes under substitute who then throws corner flag into crowd
A Swedish top-flight fixture between IFK Gothenburg and Malmo was abandoned 12 minutes from time on Wednesday evening after a firework exploded under the feet of a substitute who was warming up.
Malmo winger Tobias Sana was readying himself for a potential introduction into the match when a firework, seemingly thrown from the home section of the crowd, went off beneath him.
Sana previously played for Gothenburg and approached a section of their fans, ripping a corner flag from the ground and throwing it into the terrace.
He was escorted away by security before the referee took the players from the pitch with the score at 0-0.

Police arrest 530 football fans during Frankfurt derby
German police arrested 530 football fans and detained 159 of them after trouble marred the Eintracht Frankfurt-Darmstadt derby in the German league, it was confirmed on Sunday.
Trouble had been expected for the key derby, especially with hosts Darmstadt just above the relegation places.
But officers had to step in after disturbances throughout the day in Darmstadt with Hessen police reporting cases of "rioting, flares being set off, bullying, insulting behaviour and damage to property" from "several violent groups" of fans.
Despite a huge police presence in Darmstadt's city centre, there was a brawl between rival fans after the match which was quickly dealt with.
Police say four officers were lightly injured during disturbances and one football fan had to be treated in hospital after pepper spray was used during an arrest.

Red Star Belgrade game called off after fan killed in fighting
Red Star Belgrade’s match at their Serbian top division rivals Borac Cacak was postponed on Saturday after one of their supporters was killed in a fight with opposing fans.
“The Superleague’s director made the decision after consultations with the representatives of both clubs, the Football Association of Serbia and the Interior Ministry,” Red Star said on their website.
“In a tragic event that occurred on the night between Friday and Saturday, a Red Star fan lost his life.
“The club extends its sincere condolences to the fan’s family. The new date for the match will be announced in due course.”
Belgrade media reported that fans clashed in the Serbian capital in the early hours of Saturday after Red Star supporters arrived in droves.
A Cacak hospital spokeswoman Biljana Kocovic said two fans were admitted with stab wounds at around 3.30am local time, adding that one had died.
“A young man born in 1995 succumbed to his wounds while the other is in intensive care but his life is not in danger,” Kocovic was quoted as saying by the B92 website.
Serbian football has been rife with violence in the past 20 years and several fans have died after fights either in or outside stadiums.
Dozens of fans clashed with riot police and each other when league leaders Red Star played champions and bitter city foes Partizan at home last Saturday.
