West Ham fans slam police over Piccadilly Station chaos after FA Cup tie with Manchester United
West Ham fans have criticised a queuing system which caused chaos at Piccadilly Station after the Manchester United FA Cup tie on Sunday.
Thousands of fans got caught up in it and many missed trains they had been booked on.
Virgin insisted enough train services were provided to get fans back to London but tension at the station caused children to get crushed and triggered fighting.
Several fans left comments on the Hammers supporters' website, Knees Up Mother Brown.
'Kentammer' posted: “Was booked in for the 20:21 return. Got to the station just before eight, which is when we were put in the kettling queue. People were obviously concerned they were going to miss their train, but OB (Old Bill) repeatedly told people the train wouldn’t leave without them.
“When the 20:21 pulled out (up until which point the queue hadn’t moved an inch), people understandably got agitated.
“Terrible communication from the police: There was absolutely no desire to inform anyone of what was going on, and when they did they lied. Ended up on the 9pm train out but it was rammed and tempers were frayed.
“Didn’t see one bit of trouble yesterday before or after the game, so it’s frustrating when we’re treated as criminals by default. Utter disdain shown toward us by the uninterested and stubborn police, what a shame - crap end to a brilliant day. Missed the last tube too, didn’t get home until 1am.”

Teenager arrested after smoke grenade forces evacuation of Exeter City stadium
A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested in connection to an incident which forced hundreds of Exeter City fans onto the club's pitch.
Fans were evacuated from St James's Park at around 3pm on Saturday after a smoke grenade was released in the toilets of the Stagecoach Stand – sparking a fire alert.
Exeter City chairman Julian Tagg praised fans, stewards and the fire brigade following the evacuation.
He said: "The alarm went off and we found there was smoke at the back of the building. There was never any danger – we didn't know that at the time – so the stewards got everybody out of the Old Grandstand and did an exceptional job, as did the fans responding by going onto the pitch.
"At that point the fire brigade came with our fire stewards and checked the building through; of course, everyone had to be very vigilant. They checked the building through and checked that it was clear and safe. Of course there was a delay and then our stewards got everyone back into the stands and the game went on.
"It was very annoying for everybody but there was silver lining in the sense that everything was extremely well conducted by the stewards and the fire brigade, which is what you want in these situations."
Sergeant Vicky Howell, from the Devon and Cornwall Police's football unit, added: "A 16 year old boy has been arrested on suspicion of the offence which outlines possession of a smoke grenade at a designated sporting event. The police will work with closely with ECFC, as always, to investigate this incident.
"The use of pyrotechnics at a sporting event is taken seriously by the police and the Crown Prosecution Service. It is considered a risk to the safety of all attending the stadium. The police work in partnership with all sporting grounds within Devon and Cornwall to allow families and communities to come together to enjoy their sport. "

England : Hooligans told to stay away as Wrexham host Chester - 15/03/2016
Source : http://www.chesterstandard.co.uk/
POTENTIAL troublemakers have been warned they are not welcome at this weekend’s cross-border derby.
Safe travel arrangements, also known as a police ‘bubble’, remain in place for Saturday’s match between Wrexham and Chester at The Racecourse.
Visiting fans will travel from Chester to Wrexham and back via coach, flanked by a police escort, in order to minimise the risk of trouble.
They cannot gain admission to the match unless they travel via coach.
It is the third successive season the controversial ‘bubble’ arrangements have been in place for meetings between the clubs.
Town centre inspector Simon Kneale says no chances are being taken by North Wales Police in protecting the safety of match-going fans, residents and members of the public.
He said: “It will be exactly the same as previous years, there will be a good police presence.
“There is an engagement team in place working from early that morning, visiting various parts of town, licensed premises, and focusing on areas around the ground. We want disruption to local residents to be kept to an absolute minimum.”
One potential headache for fans and the police is an issue regarding parking.
Fans can normally use Glyndwr University’s car park but this weekend the university is hosting an Urdd competition and the car park will be out of bounds to football fans.
Insp Kneale said: “We encourage those going to the football not to park in residential streets as this can cause problems for those trying to access their homes.”
He added: “We know people primarily come to the football with their families and to enjoy the game. We hope the small minority who come purely to cause disruption stay away.
“Both ourselves and Cheshire Police are fully aware of the banning orders issues in Wrexham and Chester, and they will be robustly enforced around the ground and the town. We want it to be a safe event and the tactics we’re using maximises the safety of those attending.
“We’ve also got a responsibility to safeguard the rights of those
in Wrexham going about their day-to-day business, carrying on with their normal lives.”
A Glyndwr University spokesman confirmed fans have been asked not to park at the university this weekend due to other events.

Borussia Dortmund charged by Uefa after Tottenham fans injured in crush - 15/03/2016
Source : http://www.theguardian.com/
Borussia Dortmund have been charged by Uefa after 17 Tottenham fans were injured in a crush before last week’s Europa League first leg.
Fans were hurt as they struggled to enter the Westfalenstadion before the last-16 game and Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against the German club.
Uefa’s control, ethics and disciplinary body has charged Dortmund with blocking stairways at the ground, which would breach Article 38 of the safety and security regulations. The case will be heard on 19 May.
Spurs fans were treated for injuries caused by police pepper spray while another reportedly had to be carried away on a stretcher.
The congestion developed as supporters were redirected towards a different entrance into the stadium shortly before kick-off.
Martin Cloake, co-chairman of the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust, said: “I’ve been going to football since the late 70s and it’s one of the worst experiences I’ve had to get into a ground. I was very surprised because you expect it to be well organised. It’s one of the largest stadiums in Europe.“
A Tottenham spokesman said: “The misdirection of our fans by police along with the closing of turnstiles created a potentially dangerous situation. The use of pepper sprays was completely unnecessary and unacceptable.”
Dortmund police said the late arrival of Spurs fans had created unexpected pressure on the entrances, which had to be temporarily closed.
A statement read: “In order to prevent an uncontrolled entrance of the followers of Tottenham, pepper spray and baton was used by the police, in which 17 English supporters were slightly injured due to eye irritation. Furthermore, a police officer and five employees of the security service were wounded in the course of these measures.”

Two dead, 54 injured as rival Casablanca football fans clash
Country's security service says 31 people are arrested after the match
Two people were killed and 54 injured in Morocco's largest city on Saturday (March 19) when rival fans of its Raja de Casablanca football club brawled after a home game.
The running battles, in which fans threw flares and ripped up parts of the Mohammed V stadium, came despite a 2-1 victory for the home team over Chabab Rif Al Hoceima of Al Hoceima in northern Morocco.
Footage on Moroccan media showed the fans -- dressed in the club's green colours -- charging at each other. It was unclear how the clashes had erupted.
The country's DGSN security service said in a statement that 31 people were arrested after the match for involvement in "acts of vandalism". Ten people had been arrested prior to the game for the same reason, it said.

Police attacked by Kaiserslautern fans in 'massive' Cologne riot
German authorities are investigating after up to 200 men attacked police at Cologne's main train station in what authorities called a "massive riot".
A spokesman for the federal police said fans of Bundesliga 2 club FC Kaiserslautern threw fire extinguishers and metal bars at officers on Saturday, injuring two of them.
Rail traffic was halted during the attack.
Police spokesman Jens Floren said the attackers were travelling home from Duesseldorf following Kaiserslautern's 4-3 defeat to Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Floren said alcohol may have played a role but "one can assume that a large share of them were proper hooligans".
Police are examining the video footage before pressing charges.

Police confirm 20 arrests during derby day
Today's Tyne-Wear derby police operation saw 20 people arrested as officers declare the event "passionate but peaceful."
More than 50,000 fans packed St James' Park for the 1.30pm kick-off, with just under 3,000 of those travelling from Sunderland.
Out of that crowd there have only been 20 arrests - 19 men and one woman - for offences including drunk and disorderly, breach of the peace, throwing missiles, encroaching on a football pitch, being drunk in a football ground, assault, obstructing police and other public order offences.
Northumbria Police say significant planning went into managing the spectators, with the force working closely with both football clubs, councils, the British Transport Police, Nexus, Tyne and Wear Metro, Northern Rail, NEAS and NHS England.
Chief Superintendent Steve Neill said the partnership approach had led to a successful multi-agency operation and he also praised fans of both clubs for working with the force throughout the day.
He said: "I want to praise football fans who attended the Tyne-Wear derby today and behaved impeccably at what was a very tense occasion.
"We understand how important this fixture is to the people of this region and we recognised our policing plan needed to reflect that.
"That plan saw us work closely with partners and I want to thank them personally for all their efforts in making this operation such a success.
