Greek Cup semifinal suspended after fans light flares, invade pitch
Wednesday’s Greek Cup semifinal between Olympiakos and PAOK was suspended in the 90th minute after violence erupted in the stands.
PAOK, the home team, was denied a penalty late in the match, leading fans to light flares and eventually invade the pitch. Police used tear gas to disperse the fans, according to the Associated Press.
Olympiakos led 2–1 when the match was suspended.
Olympiakos and PAOK are bitter rivals and violence at their matches is nothing new.

Fans 'clash' ahead of Premier League match
Football fans have reportedly clashed ahead of the Premier League match between West Ham and Tottenham.
Witnesses said supporters were "running around" throwing bottles and fighting outside Upton Park Tube station close to the West Ham stadium.
One likened the scenes to something “from the 1980s” and another said they had heard police calling for medics to help an injured officer or supporter.
However, Scotland Yard said an “appropriate policing plan” was in place and described the incidents as "minor skirmishes". Large numbers of police officers have been drafted in to help maintain the peace.
One person on the scene tweeted: “The trouble has started at Upton Park. Police calling for medics, fights on the street. Silly people, it's only football.”
Another, Matt Watts, said: “Bit like the 80's this evening. Not pleasant. A Spurs mob throwing bottles outside Upton Park Tube.”
Past fixtures between the teams have been blighted by anti-Semitic behaviour from some West Ham fans. The club’s owners wrote to supporters before tonight’s game them warning against such behaviour.
The match will be the last between the London rivals at West Ham’s Boleyn Ground before the club moves to the Olympic Stadium next season.

Wolfsburg fans hurl flare into Hannover dugout ahead of Bundesliga match
Shortly before the start of Tuesday's Bundesliga match between Hannover and Wolfsburg, one fan's flare from the away section landed directly inside the home dugout, filling the end of Hannover's bench with smoke as coaches and players hastily jumped out.
Nobody was harmed, but the incident will surely trigger an investigation by the German football federation and could result in a fine for Wolfsburg.

Britain Bans 2,000 Football Hooligans From Euro 2016 in France – VfL Wolfsburg - 01/03/2016
Source : http://sputniknews.com/
Euro 2016 is due to be held between June and July across venues in 10 French cities, including the Stade de France in Paris, and stadiums in Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Saint-Denis and Toulouse.
Some 2,000 British football fans have been issued with banning orders, preventing from traveling to the upcoming UEFA Euro 2016 in France, local media reported Thursday.
"At any one time, we've got about 2,000 people on a banning order and those are people we really don't want traveling because of their past behavior. So there will be a comprehensive operation in the run-up to the tournament to really try to ensure that those people cannot travel to France," Assistant Chief Constable Mark Roberts said, as quoted by the Sky Sports channel.
The French authorities need to focus on public safety during the championship, the British police constable said, adding that the United Kingdom is one the few countries with legislation against football hooliganism.
On Tuesday, a UEFA operations director said that the football authority is prepared to reschedule the Euro 2016 games and hold matches behind closed doors due to terrorism concerns. He added that the venues and cities may be changed at very short notice.
Security concerns over terrorists targeting mass events in France were raised after a suicide attack outside the Stade de France stadium in Paris last November.

Greece : PAOK fans force abandonment of semifinal with Olympiakos - 03/03/2016
Source : http://www.ekathimerini.com/
Wednesday proved to be another sad night for Greek soccer, as the semifinal first-leg game between PAOK and Olympiakos was abandoned one minute from the end, with the score at 2-1 in the Reds’ favor, due to attempts for a pitch invasion by home supporters at Thessaloniki’s Toumba Stadium.
The fate of the two-leg semifinal now rests with the federation, with Olympiakos likely to be awarded a 3-0 win. PAOK will also face a point deduction, a stadium ban and a huge fine.
PAOK owner Ivan Savvidis said after the match that he will not let the squad go to Piraeus for the return leg, which would entail the deduction of more points from the league table.
The hosts protested fiercely against the refusal of the referee to award PAOK a penalty on the 89th minute, leading to a red card shown to PAOK’s Robert Mak for dissent.
This followed an enjoyable match that had Mak give PAOK an early lead before Esteban Cambiasso equalized for the Reds and David Fuster offered the visitors a 2-1 advantage that remained until the game got abandoned.
The home supporters hurled various objects at the referee and the Olympiakos players, including a number of lit flares. Police tried to contain them but they tried several times to invade the pitch, which eventually happened after the match was definitively abandoned, with the fans clashing with the riot police.
Earlier a water cup thrown from the stands had hit Olympiakos coach Marco Silva. The Portuguese was very upset and left the post-match press conference when he was asked to comment on the referee. “Greek soccer is corrupt”, declared PAOK manager Igor Tudor.

Scotland : Motherwell fans arrested after trouble at Hearts game - 03/03/2016
Source : http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/
EIGHT more football fans have been arrested after trouble broke out at a Hearts v Motherwell match in January.
The men – all Motherwell supporters – were targeted under Police Scotland’s Operation Rebound.
The eight ranged in age from 15 to 51 and are all from Motherwell. Seven have been released on bail and banned from attending matches. They will appear in court in April, while the 15-year-old has been reported to the Children’s Panel.
The arrests come after eight Hearts fans were arrested in connection with the disturbance at the game at Tynecastle on January 16, which Hearts won 6-0.
Inspector Emma Croft, who is based at St Leonards, said: “These arrests stand to reinforce our previous message that such behaviour will not be tolerated and we will work tirelessly to trace those involved in violence and criminality.
“Sixteen individuals are now unable to attend a football match for the foreseeable future as a result of this incident.”

France : SC Bastia - Lorient FC - 05/03/2016
Source : http://frenchfootballweekly.com/
The stands in Bastia may be less lively than usual, as there is a ban on travelling fans for this match and the postponed Nantes fixture, and the club has been called up before the Disciplinary Commission to answer for their fans’ behaviour at three separate matches, resulting in a terse plea for people to stop setting off flares as a) it is costing them a fortune and b) any further incidents could result in the stadium being suspended. Given how important home advantage is to Bastia’s position in the table, this would be a difficult sanction to bear. One of the fan groups « Bastia 1905 », with the support of the club, will be organising a collection in support of one of their members, Maxime, injured by a flashball after the match at Reims.

Seven arrests after pitch invasions during Dundee United’s Scottish Cup victory over Ross County
The Tangerines beat the odds to hit back from 2-1 down and a sending-off to record a late victory.
However, the excitement was too much for some fans who scaled the barriers and ran on to the pitch to celebrate after each of United’s goals.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that seven men have been arrested in connection with football-related disorder at the Global Energy Stadium at the Ross County v Dundee United game today.
“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
United took a large and noisy crowd north as they looked to book a place in the semi-final.
The club had appealed for fans to stay off the pitch, saying: “All fans are respectfully reminded to conduct themselves in a manner that does not bring the club and its support into disrepute and to adhere to the ground regulations and code of conduct of the Global Energy Stadium...
“All fans are advised to remain within the stand and to refrain from entering trackside or the field of play.”
Match commander Colin Gough said: “It is disappointing that a small minority of fans were involved within disorder in the ground.
“Disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated in any format. Enquiries are continuing and there is potential for further arrests.”

Eight football fans arrested during derby clash between Burnley and Blackburn Rovers
EIGHT people were arrested for public order offences during and after Saturday's East Lancashire derby.
There were three arrests in the stadium - one for possession of a smoke device, another for damage to a seat and a minor assault and a the third for being drunk and disorderly - and five outside which were for being drunk and disorderly.
A coach carrying Blackburn Rovers fans to the game was smashed, but police said the damage was caused from the inside.
A Burnley fan was arrested for throwing a missile at a coach but it didn't cause any damage.
Superintendent Russ Proctor said: "It was a relatively quiet day for the police compared to previous years. It's always lively and there's always plenty going on but the police and both clubs handled the occasion very well.
"It was the minority who were ruining it for the majority but on the whole both sets of fans were very well behaved." Supt Proctor said a number of seats were damaged by fans in the David Fishwick Stand.

Italian footballers ambushed by armed hooligans
An angry mob of between 150 and 200 hooligans managed to board Foggia Calcio's team bus on Saturday, punching footballers.
The hooligans were whipped up into a rage after their team's 3-0 derby defeat to local rivals Fidelis Andria, and lay in wait for the players to return from the away fixture before springing their ambush.
The mob, armed with baseball bats and iron bars, attacked the returning team bus as it approached the square in front of Pino Zaccheria stadium, in central Foggia, Puglia.
“Some of the attackers got onto the bus and exchanged blows with the players. One player was hit with a punch,” Danilo Coppola, the Italian FA spokesperson for the Lega Pro – Italy’s third tier of professional football - told Gazzetta dello Sport.
