France : Thousands demonstrate in Corsica to support injured football fan - 20/02/2016
Source : Mail

Source : http://www.rfi.fr + mail
Several thousand people demonstrated in Bastia on the French Mediterranean island of Corsica on Saturday, accusing police of seriously injuring a football fan in clashes after a match in the north-eastern French city of Reims. There were appeals for calm, after a number of protests that have been followed by pitched battles between youths and police since the incident on 13 February.
The protesters - many of them Bastia fans and students - marched behind a banner declaring "Ghustizia per Maxime" ("Justice for Maxime" in the Corsican language).
They chanted slogans in support of Maxime Beux, who was injured after Reims-SC Bastia match, and Rémi DI Caro, who was jailed for five months, with a further five suspended, after a demonstration that turned violent on Tuesday evening in Corte, the town that is home to the island's university.
Local officials said that police found home-made explosive devices - reportedly bowling balls filled with explosives - near government offices.

Millwall fans appear to throw punches at trapped police officers
These are extremely troubling scenes.
Saturday's League One game between Millwall and Peterborough United was the setting for worrying fan behaviour, as Millwall supporters appeared to fight amongst themselves, and seemingly throw punches at surrounded police officers.
Footage shows the home fans surround two law enforcers and apparently rain down blows upon them, as they try and break up fighting between fellow Lions' fans during their side's 3-0 victory.
It appears that the police officers involved in the melee were caught in the 'crossfire' of Millwall fans exchanging blows with each other.
None of the footage seems to suggest that any Posh fans were involved in the incident.

Police probe on Albion fan's coin throw
Chris Brunt suffered a cut under his left eye as he was injured by the 50 pence piece which he claimed was thrown by his own team's fans.
West Brom lost 3-1 to Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.
Brunt could have been blinded by the assault, West Brom head coach Tony Pulis said, as the player declared it was the first time he felt "ashamed" of the team's supporters.
Brunt described how he had seen a young girl in the crowd and gone towards the fans to give her his shirt when he was hit.
He said the team's FA Cup fifth-round exit may have angered supporters but added that is no excuse for what happened.
The 31-year-old Northern Ireland international said: "Obviously there's some people in the front who were angry, understandably, because we didn't play well or get the result we wanted.
"But there's absolutely no excuse for that and no place for it in football. I've been here a long time. Obviously we all get our fair share of stick but to be hit with a coin by your own fans is absolutely disgusting."
He offered to meet the person who threw the money, and added: " I've been here a long time and I've loved my time here and that's the first time I've been ashamed of our supporters. A small minority obviously ruined it for the rest of the 4,000 who were there and paid good money for a day trip."
Pulis said: "We have seen an incident where a lad who has played over 300 games for this club could have had his eye out.
"He has a cut and it's not too far away from his eye - it's an inch away from striking him in his eye and if that happens we're talking (about) a very, very serious problem."
Former England captain Alan Shearer said the incident was "disgusting", while Harry Redknapp described it as "cowardly".
Police said they are treating the incident as an assault.

FC Cologne fans protest heightened security ahead of derby match
Around 1,000 supporters of FC Cologne took to the streets of Monchengladbach, Saturday, to protest against heightened security measures implemented in the city ahead of the derby match between Borussia Monchengladbach and FC Cologne. According to the local authorities, the away fan section of the stadium will not be fully provided for FC Cologne fans during the match. This is the part of a penalty imposed on the team and its fan club by the German Football Union after clashes erupted between police and FC Cologne fans in 2015. Security checks were set up around the stadium with police officers checking the personal belongings of fans arriving at the stadium. Mounted police and helicopters were also deployed to the area, with police closing the streets surrounding the stadium several hours before kick-off.

Feyenoord Rotterdam - Roda JC - 21/02/2016
Source : http://www.nos.nl/
More than 300 fans arrested at protest against Feyenoord board
Police arrested 326 people at the weekend during a protest by Feyenoord supporters at the club’s De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam.
Around 1,000 supporters took part in the demonstration before the match against Roda JC on Sunday afternoon.
Police used baton charges to disperse the crowd and sealed off the police station where the arrested fans were processed and fined for offences including disorder and unlawful assembly.
Necessary
The city’s mayor, Ahmed Aboutaleb, said a heavy police presence was necessary because the protest had not been authorised in advance. He added he wanted to avoid a repeat of the protest at the Maasgebouw in 2011, when police drew their pistols on hundreds of Feyenoord supporters who were threatening to storm a board meeting.
‘If you know beforehand what they’re planning and how many demonstrators are coming you can arrange a proportional police presence,’ Aboutaleb told NOS. ‘If we don’t know that in advance, we have to prepare for the worst. And that’s what we did. One thing was clear: we wanted no repeat of guns being drawn as happened in 2011.’
Disproportionate
Fans said the protest was peaceful and branded the police response disproportionate. Many supporters are expected to contest their fines because they fear they will otherwise be banned from the stadium.
Many protestors brought cardboard removal boxes as a gesture to the club’s directors to pack their bags. They also carried a banner with the message: ‘If we’re the customers, you’re the board of V&D’, referring to the shutdown of the department store chain.

Fight at Paraguayan football match; 1 killed, 54 arrested
An 18-year-old man was gunned down before the start of a match between Olimpia and Cerro Porteño over the weekend here, the Paraguayan National Police said, adding that 54 people were arrested after fights broke out following the game.
The victim, believed to be an Olimpia fan, was near Defensores del Chaco Stadium when he was shot by suspected Cerro Porteño fans. Hundreds of fans clashed after Sunday's match, which Cerro Porteño won 1-0, and attacked police in numerous incidents, reports Efe.
Officers seized several pistols and knives from suspects, officials said on Monday. The 54 suspects arrested are being held at the Metropolitan Police Station in Sajonia, the police said.
Security was tight for the Olimpia-Cerro Porteño classic, which draws tens of thousands of fans whenever the two clubs meet.

Crusaders FC - Cliftonville FC - 21/02/2016
Source : http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/
Police are investigating after a man was injured when he was attacked by a hammer-wielding gang on Saturday in an area of Belfast where there has been tension in recent years associated with football fans.
The PSNI said it was reported that at around 6.35pm a 20-year-old man was targeted by a gang of up to 10 people on Skegoneill Avenue in the north of the city.
She added: "Around 30 men attacked homes and cars following the Crusaders vs Cliftonville match at Seaview on Saturday evening."
The Irish League derby had ended before 5pm a short distance away.
A large number of Cliftonville supporters used to walk along Skegoneill Avenue to and from games at the Seaview stadium on Shore Road, but their club now advises them not to do so.
Yesterday Cliftonville FC had not initially commented on the TUV allegations.
A PSNI statement said: "It was reported that at around 6.35pm a 20-year-old male was attacked by a group of youths on Skegoneill Avenue.
"He was knocked to the ground and struck with what is believed to have been a hammer.
"He sustained a suspected fracture wrist and swelling to his head and face as a result of the attack.
"A 17-year-old male was arrested a short time later on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries. It is believed that up to 10 people were involved."

4 belgian fans injured in brawl in Greece
Police say four Belgian fans have been treated in the hospital for minor injuries following a brawl in Athens hours before a Europa League match between Olympiakos and Anderlecht.
Police say several dozen Belgian fans were attacked by youths at a bar in the city's Gazi district early Thursday. The match will be played later Thursday at Karaiskakis Stadium in nearby Piraeus.
Police say 35 people were detained. Six of them were arrested for public disturbance offenses and the others were released without charge.
