Galtasaray fans scuffle with police in Rome
Italian police have baton-charged hundreds of Galatasaray football fans who tried to break through a cordon ahead of a Europa League match against Lazio in Rome.
Some of the supporters of the Turkish club threw flares and firecrackers as they gathered in the central Piazza del Popolo square.
Clashes between rival fans began on Wednesday night and officials say two people were "slightly" stabbed.
They later left hospital in Rome.
Dozens of fans were briefly detained for identification checks.
In a statement, Rome police said: "Thanks to international police co-operation, we were able to limit the potential for trouble by the Galatasaray fans in the hours between Wednesday night and Thursday morning."

Six Southampton fans given football banning orders over Arnhem violence - 25/02/2016
Source : http://www.theguardian.com/
Six Southampton fans have been given football banning orders for their part in violence when the team played at Arnhem in Holland.
The Crown Prosecution Service applied for the orders at Southampton magistrates’ court on Wednesday, relating to the disorder following the match against Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa League in August last year.
A CPS spokesman said: “Prior to the match there was a large gathering of followers of both teams in the Korenmarkt area of Arnhem. The atmosphere had initially between good-natured between the two sets of opposing supporters.
“However, a large group of Vitesse Arnhem supporters then entered the square and fighting broke out between them and Southampton’s supporters.
“When the police moved in to prevent the disorder, the violence continued, with chairs from nearby bars thrown at police officers and opposing followers. The violence involved hundreds of individuals and lasted for a period of approximately 10 minutes and it was not until riot police and officers on horseback moved in that order were restored.”
James Whitlock, 23, was given a three-year banning order for punching an opposing supporter in the face and throwing a bar stool, while 28-year-old Richard Bridle was banned for four years for also punching a rival fan in the face and abusing police officers.
Jack Jameson, 21, was banned for four years for being at the front of fans confronting police and 20-year-old Luke Fairhurst was banned for three years after he was seen on footage to be throwing chairs and tables at opposing supporters.
Samuel Coleman, 23, was banned for three years for throwing chairs at opposing supporters and 22-year-old Thomas Kitcher was banned for three years for throwing chairs and tables at opposing supporters.
Gavin Sumpter, of the CPS, said: “The violence at the hands of a minority of so-called fans in Arnhem brought the good name of Southampton Football Club and the United Kingdom into disrepute. It tainted what should have been a celebratory occasion as it was the club’s first European away fixture in 32 years.
“We hope that these bans will act as a deterrent to like-minded individuals. They should think twice before behaving this way in future. We will continue to use the legislation at our disposal to ensure that decent law-abiding football fans can continue to enjoy football in a safe and secure environment in the run-up to Euro 2016 and beyond.”
The banning orders will prevent the individuals concerned from attending matches in England and Wales, with other restrictions on their movements including surrendering their passports at the time of international fixtures.

France : Bastian fans banned from Nice match after violence - 25/02/2016
Source : http://www.news24.com.ng/
Bastia supporters have been banned from travelling to the Ligue 1 match at Nice on Friday because of a "real risk of serious confrontation", the French Minister of the Interior has decided.
"On Friday, February 26, 2016, from midnight to midnight, by any means, any person who is a fan of Bastia, or acting as such, is prohibited from travelling between Corsica and Nice," said a decree signed by Minister of the Interior Bernard Cazeneuve on Thursday.
The decision was taken due to "violent behaviour" of "certain Bastia fans", who have "frequently been disturbing public order" in and around stadiums and city centres.
The decree also singled out Nice fans, saying that they "frequently show evidence of violent behaviour with repeated clashes between fans or against security forces and with the use of pyrotechnics".
It cited four incidents involving Bastia supporters dating back to 2013, the most recent of which came a fortnight ago following their match at Reims.
Some fans were arrested and one was injured after violent clashes between the police and supporters of the Corsican club on Saturday February 13.
Protests and violence broke out in Bastia on the following day as a result, and a crowd of about 100 people attacked a police station.
When the club refused to bring forward the kick-off time of their home game against Nantes last weekend, the match was postponed.

Punch Drunk: QPR Fan Knocked To Floor After Approaching Birmingham Fans At Loftus Road
It’s only a few weeks since we brought you those incredible scenes of a Southend fan trying to fight (all of) a packed Colchester stand. However, on Saturday during QPR’s Championship clash with Birmingham City at Loftus Road, yet more fisticuffs ensued, with one Hoop’s fans on the end of a mean left-hook.
The incident in question happened after a QPR fan evaded the Loftus Road stewards and moseyed on over to the the away fans. However, on reaching the travelling Blues’ fans, the brave Rangers’ fan met his match, with rather painful consequences…

Birmingham fans blamed by police as officers and supporters injured outside QPR's ground
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed they arrested three men - one for a racially aggravated assault on a police officer - during and after Rangers' 2-0 Championship win.
One of these men was arrested for pitch encroachment and the other for a public order offence. All have been bailed pending further enquiries.
Shortly after the match, a QPR supporter was assaulted in Ellerslie Road and treated by the London Ambulance Service for a broken nose, but no arrest was made in relation to this incident.
A Met Police statement read: "From around 2.30pm on Saturday February 27, a large number of Birmingham supporters caused a disturbance in Ellerslie Road near to Loftus Road Stadium.
"Cordons were put in place to assist police officers in ensuring public safety. In addition, officers used batons to restore order where the behaviour of supporters was violent and potentially dangerous.
"Two officers were injured. A number of supporters also sustained injuries and were treated by police medics. We are not aware of anybody receiving hospital treatment.
"There was further disorder inside the stadium, including missiles being thrown from the away stand towards home supporters. A QPR player was also struck by a coin thrown from the away stand.

Football fan’s Nazi salute leads to arrest at Groningen v. Ajax
An FC Groningen fan was arrested on Sunday after flashing a Nazi salute at a fan of a visiting football club. The 21-year-old man was taken into by officers in Groningen who witnessed the incident, police there announced later in the day.
The incident took place shortly after the 11:30 a.m. match ended with visiting Amsterdam side AFC Ajax winning by a score of 1-2. More than 22,107 people at the Euroborg stadium saw Groningen fall short despite scoring a goal in extra time at the end of the game.
“After the match, our colleagues spotted a FC Groningen supporter throwing a Hitler salute and shouting racist slogans against an Ajax supporter,” police said. “During questioning, the man told that he had gotten caught up in the atmosphere between supporters of both clubs, but now, in retrospect, he is extremely sorry about it.”
A magistrate levied a 525 euro fine against the man in a hearing just after the arrest.
Fans of the Amsterdam team often refer to themselves as “The Jews” despite the team having no known historical connection to Jewish organizations or the religion. Opposing team fans often chant anti-Semitic remarks and songs against the Ajax fans because of this.
A Dutch non-profit organization attempted to sue Netherlands football association KNVB for doing too little to stop displays of anti-Semitism at football matches. A judge dismissed the claim in July 2014, and an appellate court affirmed the decision a year later.
