Two hundred police, some on horseback, others with dogs and still more in helicopters, were deployed near Česká Třebová May 29 to intervene in rioting and running street battles between rival soccer hooligans supporting Sparta Praha and Baník Ostrava.
About 300 rowdies made a secret agreement to stage the battle in the city, which is roughly midway between Prague and Ostrava. The hooligans traveled to the site - where no match was being played - by bus and car.
The helicopter presence helped stop the rioting, said Pardubice police spokesman Jozef Bocán, but the events in Česká Třebová were just the most recent case of violence initiated by soccer hooligans. Both the police and soccer officials say such groups are getting more radical, and officials are calling for tougher legislation that would allow for increased penalties to be levied against the delinquents.

Huddersfield Town play-off final violence sees 15 arrested at Old Trafford
FIFTEEN people have now been arrested after trouble flared at Old Trafford just minutes before the final whistle in Huddersfield Town’s play-off clash.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed eight Huddersfield Town fans were arrested for violent disorder, and a further four arrested for violent disorder and assault on police.
Three fans were also arrested in separate incidents for public order offences during and after the game, in which Town lost 3-0 to Peterborough United.
The most serious incident broke out in the Upper Tier of the Stretford End, filled with Town fans.
It is believed a group of men started punching and then kicking a male Town supporter.
One Town fan who witnessed the alleged assault, but declined to be named said: "It started off as a bit of shouting and ended up in a blood bath.
"They started punching this guy and then he fell to the ground and they must have kicked him about 20 times.
"The stewards couldn’t break it up and the police then intervened but they also got hit in the crossfire"
Another fan who was in the same section of the stand has written to Manchester United and to Greater Manchester Police to complain about the lack of response by stewards and police when trouble flared.

The supporters had been given go downtown in order to join the law courts, their club being of the sight of the legal authorities. Greece: Clash between supporters - 30/05/2011
Source : http://www.soccerplus.gr
Coincidence or not, shortly after the basket ball between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos, the fans of the two teams violently clashed in the suburbs of Athens, in Gizi. The hostilities were launched by the fans of Pana in the afternoon who attacked their rivals. Those, after these first clashes, returned to be avenged a little later by attacking the fans for Pana, with the room of the latter. According to certain witnesses, supporters of Olympiakos were in possession of rifles! What certain and is proven, it is that a fan of breaded was seriously wounded after being touched with the abdomen by a stab. It was transferred to the hospital to promulgate first aid there. Little time after, the police challenged the presumed author of the aggression to the knife.
