FANS ASSAULT SAMPDORIA PLAYERS

Around 20 die hard fans of Sampdoria assaulted the team's bus returning from the away match against Milan last night. The ultras charged the bus around 2AM armed with stones and clubs; a few windows were broken. Five players were inside the bus at the time and fans boarded it to insult the players after yesterday's 3-0 loss. . .

Sampdoria condemn fan attack on team bus after defeat to AC Milan

Club issues a statement denouncing the incident while club president Riccardo Garrone insists attack was unacceptable but refuses to give up his position.

Find the best odds and bet on Serie A. Sampdoria have condemned the violent attack on the team's bus as players returned from their 3-0 defeat to AC Milan last night.

A group of armed Blucerchiati fans stopped the bus on its way into the port city and began to attack it, furious with the loss at San Siro, which leaves the club just a point above the relegation zone.

Bats and stones were used to smash windows as the players watched on terrified by the ordeal.

The incident happened at 03:00 CET on Sunday morning, leaving players and staff shaken as the group sped off.

A statement from the club reads: "In reference to the disgraceful episode, Sampdoria condemns what happened. No result, however negative, can justify such an action as the team returned from Milan. It's a difficult and delicate moment, but the only way to get out of it is to remain together."

Samp president Riccardo Garrone added: "This has gone beyond the acceptable and nothing can justify this."

"I am very disappointed, but I will carry on. I won't give up."

Fans have been furious with Garrone ever since his bust-up with Antonio Cassano who left the club. They have also been unhappy with the team's current form, as well as Giampaolo Pazzini's sale in January.

Bolton Wanderers - Stoke City - FA Cup played in Wembley - 17/04/2011

Source : Theboltonnews.co.uk

16 arrests but police praise majority of Wanderers fans

POLICE arrested 16 fans on Sunday when Bolton crashed out of the FA Cup semi final against Stoke.

Despite a humiliating 5-0 defeat, there was little trouble between Bolton and Stoke fans, although there were reports of drunken Bolton fans fighting amongst themselves at Wembley.

Of the 16 arrested, 12 were for assault and three for public order offences.

A 35-year-old Bolton fan was also arrested on suspicion of voyeurism and possession of class A drugs after he was caught in the women’s toilets in Wembley.

He has been bailed until May 31, when he must return to a police station in west London.

Following the Manchester City versus Manchester United match, 34 people were arrested.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “It passed off without major incident. We thank the majority of supporters who came down and were law-abiding and peaceful and had an enjoyable day.”

Hundreds of officers were involved in policing the weekend’s games in one of the biggest operations since the opening of the new Wembley Stadium. A team of Bolton police “spotters” also travelled to Wembley to help the London police by identifying known and potential troublemakers.

Football hooligans clash at Beaconsfield service station

FOOTBALL hooligans on their way to an FA Cup Semi-Final match clashed in a bloody brawl at Beaconsfield's service station.

A 25-year-old man was injured in the fight between Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City at the services, off junction 2 of the M40 on Sunday between 1-1.30pm.

It is reported that the man sustained a neck wound caused by a broken bottle or glass and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for information from anyone using the services on Sunday afternoon.

Detective sergeant Pete Collett said: "This was a nasty accident that would have been witnessed by the many people who were using the services on Sunday afternoon.

"I would urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward and speak to us about what they saw or heard as soon as possible."

No arrests have been made.

QPR fans in the dock again after Millwall battle part two - 20/04/2011

Source : Fulhamchronicle.co.uk

Police want to trace the rampaging football thugs who caused havoc after a QPR and Millwall clash – for the second time this season.

Supporters launched pitched battles outside the New Den stadium in Bermondsey, south-east London after the Championship clash in March.

It came after violence at the reverse fixture in Shepherd's Bush in September ended in multiple arrests.

The second match saw trouble flare when QPR fans met Millwall supporters coming out of the of the East Stand, known as the 'Dockers Stand', in the North Car Park.

Despite a heavy police presence and fans being separated by gates, QPR followers started throwing missiles into the Millwall section as they were leaving the stadium.

Coins and plastic bottles were among the weapons launched, while sheeting was also ripped from the segregation gates by Hoops fans.
Police want to chase this football supporter

One Millwall fan was arrested at the time but police now want to find three more Lions supporters as well as a QPR follower.

Describing the behaviour of fans following the March 8 clash, Inspector Chris Wood, of Lewisham Police, said: "It was atrocious and could have led to fans and families being seriously injured. We appeal to the public to assist us in finding these men. If you know who they are please call us.
Police want to chase this football supporter

"These people ruin the experience for genuine fans that just want to come and see their team play, and can ruin the reputation of the football club - they deserve to face the consequences."

The fixture was always likely to be high risk following mass violence before, after and during the first match at Loftus Road in September.
millwall riots

Then, 11 people were arrested and a fan was stabbed in the chest with a dart as disorder brewed in a number of Shepherd's Bush pubs and in the stadium itself.

Ipswich Town - Norwich City - 21/04/2011

Source : BBC News

Police make 19 arrests at Ipswich vs Norwich match

Nineteen people were arrested as trouble flared at the Ipswich Town and Norwich City derby match.

Thirteen football fans were also ejected from Town's Portman Road ground during the match on Thursday night, which City won 5-1.

Some home fans threw missiles including bottles, glasses, coins, batteries and fireworks at away supporters and police outside the stadium.

Police said the troublemakers were a "significant minority".

Supt John Everett, of Suffolk Police, said he was disappointed at the number of arrests.
Fans held up

He said: "This was the first time in 13 years that we have had an evening fixture and we've had more issues this time in terms of disorder and problems that we've had on many other previous occasions when we've played the local derby."

Some away fans missed the start of the match after they were held up by police dealing with the trouble.

"We were getting a right assortment of missiles thrown, both at away supporters and at police officers - everything from bottles, glasses, batteries, coins and fireworks," said Supt Everett.

"On the grounds of safety weren't able to push the Norwich supporters through and get them in the ground."

He said he had been disappointed at the behaviour of some Ipswich fans.
Scuffle between Ipswich and Norwich fan Trouble flared before the Ipswich Town vs Norwich City match

"It's a significant minority - not ones or twos last night - a real minority who seemed intent on spoiling the occasion for all those decent people who went down and, despite the scoreline, enjoyed the match.

"Generally speaking, the vast majority of Ipswich supporters were well behaved, as were the Norwich supporters."

But Supt Everett said it had been a successful police operation overall.

"We have managed to prevent any serious disorder and serious damage and contained the situation, so I'm reasonably happy with that and the way that's gone.

"But at times, certainly immediately prior to kick-off and outside the visitors' and on the way back to the railway station after the match, it was very challenging for the police officers who were present and times when we were very stretched as well."

A 23-year-old and a 27-year-old are in police custody. Both men have been charged with sectarian breach of the peace.

The arrests were made in Paisley and the east end of Glasgow.

The operation targeted individuals posting racial and religious hate comments about Old Firm stars such as Celtic manager Neil Lennon and Rangers striker El Hadji Diouf, police told the Daily Record newspaper today.

Superintendent Kirk Kinnell, of Strathclyde Police’s anti-violence directorate, said this behaviour would not be tolerated.

He added: “I would like to deliver a clear message to those who continue to make hate-filled comments and cause distress to decent members of the public, that we will pursue you relentlessly until this behaviour is stopped.

“Some people seem to think that they are anonymous online or can hide in a crowd, but technology can also be used to bring the police directly to you wherever you are.”

The two men who have been arrested are expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

An extra 1000 officers will be on the streets tomorrow as Celtic and Rangers meet for the seventh and last time this season.

Widespread concern over Old Firm violence was voiced following an ill-tempered clash between the two teams last month.

The high-profile disorder during the Scottish Cup game saw three Rangers players handed red cards and culminated in a confrontation between Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist and Neil Lennon.

There was also disruption off the pitch with more than 30 supporters arrested at Celtic Park.

An Old Firm summit chaired by Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond was held in the wake of the game and an eight-point action plan was agreed.

Concerns about violence related to the game – and fuelled by hot weather and alcohol – were raised as detectives continue the hunt for whoever sent parcel bombs to Lennon, Paul McBride QC and former MSP Trish Godman.

Officers said the packages were “designed to cause real harm to the person who opened them”.

Lennon has endured sectarian threats against him throughout his career as a player and manager at Celtic.

Speaking ahead of the crunch game, he said: “I’ve had this for 10 years but I don’t want to say you get used to it, because you never do.

“It’s been with me during my time as a player, my time as a coach and my time as a manager. But it is not going to deter me from doing what I want to do.”

His Rangers counterpart Walter Smith said the parcel bomb threat was a new low in the history of the Old Firm rivalry.

On Thursday, Mr McBride, who represented Lennon at Hampden during his recent dispute with the Scottish Football Association, condemned whoever is behind the attacks.

He said: “They are despicable and cowardly individuals who are full of hatred and are out to hurt 2and kill.”
