| Inter Milan - AC Milan - 15/02/2009Source : Goal.com Milan Fans Arrested After Fight With Inter FansSeven Milan fans have been arrested by Italian police after being identified following a fight with Inter fans during the Derby della Madonina on Sunday night. Ansa.it claims the Rossoneri faithful put up a banner containing offensive words against Inter. That didn't go down well with the Nerazzurri supporters, who went over towards the Milan fans and tried to destroy it. This prompted a reaction from the Rossoneri, who began to fight with their bitter rivals. Nasty scenes ensued as punches and kicks began to fly in front of other baffled supporters, who were not sure what was going on. Reports state that a number of Inter fans were left with various injuries. The culprits managed to escape but they have been identified by the authorities and police moved in to arrest them on Wednesday morning. Reports suggest those arrested could be banned from attending Serie A matches or even given a jail term for their blatant disregard of the law. | |

| Olympiakos Pireus - St Etienne - 18/02/2009Source: AFP Five fans arrested in Greece over UEFA Cup violenceFour Olympiakos Piraeus fans and a St Etienne supporter were arrested in the aftermath of a UEFA Cup fixture on Wednesday during which another French fan was stabbed, police said Thursday. The four Greeks aged between 22 and 43 were part of an Olympiakos throng throwing stones, bottles and other objects at St Etienne fans and police. The 26-year-old Frenchman was arrested for lighting a flare during the game. Another St Etienne fan was stabbed in the thigh in a clash that broke out ahead of the game which the visiting French team won 3-1. Greek football is chronically plagued by violence that mostly surfaces during domestic matches, defying a decade of attempts by authorities to stamp out the problem. Two years ago, five supporters of Serbia's Red Star Belgrade football club were hospitalised with stab wounds in the northern city of Thessaloniki after an attack by Greek hooligans ahead of another UEFA Cup game. *********************************************************** Source: http://www.furiana-photos.fr VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnnZxIXJVPs&eurl= ***********************************************************

| Arsenal FC - Cardiff City - FA Cup - 15/02/2009Source : WalesOnline 22 arrested after City-Arsenal clashTWENTY-TWO suspected football hooligans were arrested during Cardiff City’s FA Cup clash with Arsenal. The Metropolitan Police yesterday confirmed supporters from both clubs were held after Monday night’s 4-0 defeat for the Bluebirds in the teams’ fourth-round replay at the Emirates Stadium in North London. Nine people were arrested as part of a planned operation resulting from previous trouble. Twelve men and one woman were held for offences including being drunk and disorderly, criminal damage, public order offences and possessing Class A drugs. Some of the criminal damage arrests resulted from supporters fly-kicking wing mirrors off cars as they walked to Finsbury Park Tube station following the defeat. PC Peter Dearden from Islington Police’s football intelligence unit said: “Police were fully prepared for this match and the majority of the fans were well-behaved and law-abiding. However, some vehicles and the windows of a local pub were damaged by a small number of fans who were frustrated that police had disrupted their plans for violence, and the people responsible were arrested. “We will continue to respond robustly to anyone who uses football as an excuse to commit crime.” Officers cautioned or fined five men for a range of different offences. A 28-year-old man was cautioned for possession of Class A drugs, a 24-year-old man was fined for being drunk and disorderly, a 40-year-old man was fined for being drunk and disorderly, a 23-year-old man and 25-year-old man were fined for public order offences, while a 20-year-old woman arrested for a public order offence was released without charge. A 16-year-old boy held under the Public Order Act was reprimanded. Nine others were released on police bail until March 6. Four were yesterday still in custody pending further inquiries. Kaid Hersi, 46, of Llanbleddian Court, Cathays, Cardiff, will appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court next Thursday charged with being drunk and disorderly. ************************************************************* Source : Islington Gazette + Press Football thugs go on rampageHUNDREDS of Cardiff City football hooligans went on the rampage - trashing a pub and vandalising 40 cars - after police prevented a pre-planned brawl with Arsenal fans. A group of Cardiff supporters gathered in the Lord Nelson pub in Holloway Road, Holloway, in readiness for a clash with Gunners fans who were drinking in The Bailey pub 200 yards along the road. When police shut the pub, Cardiff yobs inside the Lord Nelson smashed five windows and caused other structural damage to the venue. The trouble erupted before the clubs met in an FA Cup tie at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night. An employee at the pub, who asked not to be named, said: "It was a bad evening. It sparked off and we lost some windows. They just took it out on the premises. "It happened a few years ago - it was the same set of fans then and the police operation was exactly the same." An employee at Munchies Caribbean Takeaway, opposite the pub, said: "I looked over the road and all of a sudden people were going mad. There were fans throwing things and all the windows got smashed." Later that night, after their team had lost 4-0 to Arsenal, Cardiff fans wreaked havoc in Avenell Road, Highbury, and neighbouring Ambler Road. They emptied bin bags into residents' front gardens and kicked wing mirrors off 40 cars, while others had their windows smashed. Red cars were singled out for particular abuse, because it is Arsenal's colour, with yobs kicking dents in them, trampling on roofs and pouring paint over one. Avenell Road resident Mehmet Cetim, 57, a sandwich delivery driver, said: "I was about to go to work and I saw my wing mirror was broken. I don't know how much it will cost, maybe £200." Another said: "I think the club should pay for the damage. It was sickening." The violence came despite 767 police being on duty - compared to 200 planned for this Saturday's Sunderland fixture. Arsenal's football intelligence officer, Police Constable Peter Dearden, said: "High risk Cardiff supporters intent on causing trouble congregated at the Lord Nelson. Towards kick off some tried to leave for a pre-arranged fight with Arsenal fans in Holloway Road. Police contained them and the frustration led to windows being smashed. "We also arrested nine of Arsenal's most high risk supporters at The Bailey, which took the edge off the Arsenal element. A few shattered windows prevented quite a few hundred people fighting in the street." PC Dearden continued: "After the game the Cardiff supporters were encouraged to Finsbury Park to their coaches. They walked along Avenell Road and Ambler Road and smashed windows and ripped off wing mirrors out of frustration that they could not fight with Arsenal supporters." There were 22 arrests and two men have been charged. Cardiff mob

| Charlton Athletic - Plymouth Argyle - 14/02/2009

Ten Plymouth Argyle fans arrested on train
TEN Plymouth Argyle fans were arrested at a West Country station after a First Class carriage was "trashed", forcing police to intercept the train.
Officers swooped on Taunton train station after reports of a large group, stripped to their underwear, causing havoc on the London Paddington to Plymouth service.
Police say the ten, who were travelling back to the region after Argyle's 2–0 defeat at Charlton Athletic, were arrested for a variety of public order offences, including criminal damage and being drunk and disorderly.
Nine units from Avon and Somerset Constabulary, including a police dog handler, were sent to the station just before 9pm on Saturday, along with British Transport Police.
The 340 passengers on board were delayed by around 20 minutes as the group were hauled off the train and handcuffed on the platform.
Seven were taken to Taunton police station and three to Bridgwater.
A police spokesman said an investigation had been launched into the incident amid suggestions of indecent exposure.
He said the onboard guard had radioed British Transport Police, demanding help with a "rowdy" group who had begun throwing beer around the First Class carriage, at the rear of the train.
The spokesman said: "We got a call that there were rowdy Plymouth fans that were drunk on the train.
"They trashed the coach on the train and had thrown beer everywhere.
"They had been throwing beer all over the carriage and were stripped down to their under-clothes.
"The arrest was done very quickly as the officers were waiting for the service to arrive."
A British Transport Police spokesman said officers had been called to photograph the damage caused to the carriage.
He said: "We're still obtaining statements, but there was some damage to the train.
"There are suggestions there was an element of indecent exposure."
Ten people were interviewed and later bailed to return to Taunton police station in March.

| UK : Fans given three year match ban - 19/02/2009
Source : Thorne Gazette
A STAINFORTH football hooligan is one of two Doncaster Rovers fans to have been banned from every ground in the country. The bans follow court cases after serious outbreaks of violence after Doncaster Rovers away matches last year during the club's promotion season to The Championship.
In one of the incidents innocent passengers on a train had bottles thrown at them and police had to board the train at the next station to arrest four Doncaster men.
The other incident saw so-called Rovers fans clash with Cheltenham supporters after the team failed to clinch an automatic promotion place from League One on the last day of the season.
Police have now warned officers will take action to ban other supporters intent on causing trouble from attending matches.
A 17-year-old youth from Stainforth who cannot be identified, and Ian Shrewsbury (18 ) of Old Forge Road, Misterton, pleaded guilty to a public order offence after the Cheltenham game.
Shrewsbury was fined £120 by Cheltenham magistrates with £100 costs, his accomplice received a £100 fine and was ordered to pay £75 costs.
Both received three-year football banning orders which mean they cannot get into any ground in the country.
They were arrested following clashes in Cheltenham town centre on May 3 following the crucial fixture which Doncaster lost 2-1.
More than 100 officers were policing the match and a coach full of Doncaster fans had travelled down early in the day and were in the town centre, as were a significant number of Cheltenham fans.
The police operation kept the groups apart but, after the game, trouble flared outside a bar and the pair were seen throwing punches.
Meanwhile four Doncaster men admitted violent disorder at Bradford Crown Court following an incident on a train while returning from Carlisle United last February after a crucial promotion clash.
The unprovoked attack saw punches thrown and bottles used as weapons, causing several people to suffer cuts.
British Transport Police boarded the train at Skipton station and arrested the gang after the driver locked all the train doors preventing their escape.
Shaun Tetley, 27, and Daniel Roberts, 21, both of Burton Avenue, Balby; Mark Savory, 21, of Petersgate, Scawthorpe; and Christopher Blakey, 21, of Brook Way, Arksey, will be sentenced next month and also face football banning orders.
Speaking after the hearings PC Andy Baker said: "The results from these court appearances send a positive message that South Yorkshire Police, along with our colleagues from Gloucestershire Police and British Transport Police, will not tolerate the kind of behaviour displayed by these individuals."

Ajax fans damage car of Florence resident
Seven drunken fans of Ajax have been arrested in Florence for damaging the car of a resident in the run-up to a UEFA Cup game against Fiorentina on Thursday, ANSA news agency reported.
Police said a group of about 15 Dutch fans late Wednesday surrounded the car as the owner was parking it in the centre of the city and started kicking it.
The fans ran away when a police patrol arrived, but the officers managed to block seven of them, whose age ranges from 19 to 25.
They face a fine for drunkenness and will be banned from attending the game, it was reported.

| Police warn Forest and Derby fans over behaviour - 19/02/2009
Source : This is Nottingham
POLICE have warned Forest and Derby fans not to cause trouble at this Saturday's league match at the City Ground.
It comes after five men were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder before the FA Cup tie between the clubs at Pride Park on January 23.
Superintendent Mark Holland is police commander for the game, which kicks off at 1pm. He said: "This will be the third game between the clubs in less than a month.
"The vast majority of fans have been extremely well-behaved.
"It is only the actions of a mindless few which spoil the enjoyment of the ordinary fans. There will again be a heavy police presence to allow fans with tickets to travel to and from the ground safely."
Fans without a ticket will be viewed as being there to cause trouble, Supt Holland said.
"Any Derby County fans spotted in Nottingham Forest areas of the ground will be removed, and we will have plain-clothed officers sitting in the crowd to spot any troublemakers," he added.
Police will be working with all licensed premises between Derby and Nottingham to stop and root out troublemakers.
Notts Police will also be working closely with colleagues in Derbyshire Constabulary and British Transport Police.

| No solution yet for football hooliganism - 20/02/2009
Source : Cyprus Mail
AUTHORITIES decided yesterday against taking immediate drastic measures to crack down on hooliganism, despite a high-risk football match coming up this Sunday.
The call was made at a meeting at the Justice Ministry involving the police, the FA, representatives of football clubs and the Cyprus Sports Organization.
One of the top items on the agenda was a proposal to change kick-off for the AEL v Omonia game to an earlier time, to facilitate policing, after police complained it was extremely hard to tackle outbreaks of football-related violence at nighttime. At the end of the marathon meeting, however, it was decided that the match would start at 6pm, the scheduled time.
The two concerned football clubs also pledged to assist in any way they can so that the high-risk match passes without incident.
The urgency to clamp down on hooligans was highlighted in the wake of last weekend’s violence at a Limassol football venue, when fans ran amok terrorizing local residents. Thirteen people were arrested.
For the time being, authorities have shied away from ordering high-risk fixtures to be played behind closed doors. Football clubs themselves have come under fire for failing to work with police by naming known troublemakers.
But FA chairman Costakis Koutsokoumnis warned that football’s governing body war could still twist the clubs’ arm by hitting them where it hurts—ticket sales.
Under FA rules, a club can allocate up to 30 per cent of tickets to fans of the visiting team.
Koutsokoumnis said the FA had the power to stop clubs from issuing any visitors’ tickets, on a game-by-game basis.
“We have the right to cut the 30 per cent down to zero per cent,” said Koutsokoumnis.
Under UEFA regulations, the FA could also enforce a permanent quota of 5 per cent on visitors’ tickets, he added.

The camera then quickly picked up on the riot police slowly moving into Dinamo seating area, but unlike most situations, the throngs of hooded Dinamo fans seemed to welcome the boys in blue as if they had manged to lure their prey to the slaughter. Amazingly, with the fight raging around them, the camera kept switching focus back onto the match that was being played, as if fighting in the stands is normal and acceptable practice and part of the wider action. ************************************************************* Source : Croatian Times The game was delayed for 19 minutes by white confetti on the pitch thrown from the stadium roof by Hajduk fans. Police have warned rival Nottingham Forest and Derby County fans that they will not tolerate trouble at this weekend's match. Officers arrested five men on suspicion of violent disorder before the January 23 FA Cup tie between the two East Midlands teams and do not want a repeat on Saturday.

Local media reports Sunday said clashes between two rival cult gangs erupted on Friday, when a member of the Ocean Boys supporters club and a gang member was shot dead in the Bayelsa State capital, Yenagoa.
Later a reprisal attack at a popular night club in the city left a member of another gang dead. Several cars were riddled with bullets.
On Saturday, as the team and their supporters made their way for a league game against city rivals Bayelsa United in Ughelli in nearby Delta state, gunmen ambushed one of their buses and opened fire, killing seven fans instantly.
Four other supporters died later.
Club officials refused to comment on the murders, but an official of the Nigeria Premier League, Tunji Babalola, disclosed he has been informed but was still awaiting an official report from the team.
The match between Ocean Boys and Bayelsa United ended 1-0 in favour of Ocean Boys.

7 Nigerian football supporters shot dead
A police spokesman says unidentified attackers shot dead at least seven football supporters as they drove to watch their team play its arch rival in Nigeria's restive south. Advertisement
Charles Muka, a state police spokesman, says assailants in a vehicle opened fire on the the Ocean Boys Football Club supporters minibus early this afternoon. Seven of the fans on board died immediately and two have been taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Muka says an investigation is under way.
The incident happened in Delta State in Nigeria's oil-producing region. Football is a popular pastime in Africa's most populous nation but passions have rarely led to violence.

| CSKA's stadium in Sofia attacked and broken - 23/02/2009
Source : News.bg
Unknown perpetrators have seriously damaged "The Red Army" Stadium in Sofia, which belongs to the football team CSKA.
The vandalistic act took place during night time Saturday against Sunday, Merdian Match reports.
The letters at the stadium's gates are missing, the light sign above the arch is broken as well.
The hooligans have broken the fan fashion shop nearby, opened just a year ago.
One of the versions, on which the police is working, is that fans of the eternal rival "Levski" are to blame, and another - that fans of CSKA itself demonstrate their discontent with president Alexander Bozhkov's management of the club.
