| Coventry City - Preston North End - 01/09/2007
Source: forum
Local lads attacked a Preston coach. These coaches were full of PNE fans and not lads. Birkcs and other missiles were threw at the coach.

Source: a fan view
Near the roundabout. No cops around. Coach held back at Ricoh and some of the Cov nobs were taunting the Preston lot. Then Cov started the barney. After that the coach was told to move off quickly.
Then it must have got held up in the traffic around the stadium.
In the meantime the youths were running over to the roundabout area and on the embankment nearest the stadium. About 20 or more city fans ran towards the coach.
2 Preston fans got out of the coach and were ready for a fight...But they did not expect one of the Coventry youths to have a go. He did and there was a scuffle and high kicking going on.
Then a load of other city youths in plain clothes ran at the bus and started to kick it.
The coach started to pull away and that is when the windows were put through. One at the front left side passenger and the other at 2/3 down on the left side. Glass was scattering over the roundabout.
The coach continued round the roundabout towards the M6 and drove through a red light so that it could avoid more trouble.
About 3 minutes later the sirens went on.
I was near the stewards/ away supporters. One of the senior stewards said City fans started the trouble when the coach was parked outside the away end.
There were scuffles around the coach when I was near the stewards.

It was one of the funniest 10 or so minutes for a long time.
Coming out of the ground, walking towards the ramp, i receive a phone call of my mate. He said you won't believe it, there's about 100 or so 15 year old having it with a mob of older Preston. A couple of us decide to have a gander, went round the coaches park and love and behold of mob of teenagers are getting at Preston who getting backed right into there coach. No OB on duty (They were more interested to raid my local after the final whistle) Few scuffles with coins getting thrown back and forth, stewards trying to separate it, they were on a losing battle.. Its Camera'd up to fuck so i didn’t bother doing fuck all, just allowed all these young lads to enjoy themselves.
Preston eventually went on there coach and drove up the road leading out of the ground, only for 30 odd young'uns to lead the charge again at the coach, apparently was stuck at the roundabout and couple of windows smashed.
I would like to point out 2 things.
This mob of Preston was old fellas and was wearing the 'gear' but numbered around 30.
The mob of Cov was not firm... chavvie 15 year olds but fair play to them, they were game as fuck but numbers must have been around 100.
Cannot believe there was no OB at all on duty especially with it being a late KO...
Reckon a few faces might be in the local rag over the forthcoming weeks.

The coach we were on had kids on. we stood and took what they hurled at us, There was about 20 lads stood there against hundreds of these little chavvy fuckers. However they didn't really want to get in close, a couple of surges and then just bouncing around and throwing missiles. Piss and wind these lads.

| Sweden to crack down on hooligans - 08/09/2007
Source : AFP
Sweden plans to crack down on hooliganism in football and other sports, the country's justice and sports ministers wrote in an article in Sweden's leading newspaper Dagens Nyheter on Saturday.
The government plans to appoint a special investigator to make a series of proposals in 2008, including giving police and prosecutors the right to independently ban troublemakers from sports arenas, Justice Minister Beatrice Ask and Sports Minister Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth wrote.
Under current laws, prosecutors can only bar a person from a venue if a sporting club has requested a ban.
The ministers also said sporting clubs ought to be quicker to suspend supporters who violate public order regulations, and called for better controls at arena entrances to check fans and what they are bringing into the stadium.
The ministers also want sporting clubs to "examine the possibility of seeking civil damages from people whose actions hurt organisers."

| Sweden: Screening Video to Stop Football Hooligans - 08/09/2007
Source : SR International - Radio Sweden
The top Swedish football clubs Djurgården and AIK Solna have been given the right to look att CCTV footage from their stands, with the hope they will be able to identify football hooligans among their supporters.
Up until now only the Swedish police have had the right to look at the footage, filmed in an 8 hour period around Swedish league matches. The third major Stockholm side, Hammarby, is expected to be given permission to look at footage from its stadium next week.
It’s hoped the decision will mean that clubs will be able to ban known troublemakers more easily from the stands, now with the back up of video evidence.

| Italian 'Ultras' fly to London to learn the art of football hooliganism - 06/09/2007Source : This is London Some of London's most prominent football clubs are being infiltrated by Italian thugs who are hoping to learn from the "masters" — English hooligans. Italian newspaper La Stampa reports that an increasing number of hardcore Ultras from Rome, Turin and Verona are flying to the UK on budget airlines to establish links with thugs at clubs such as Millwall and West Ham. They earn the respect of English "firms" by getting into organised fights on matchdays across the country. The report quotes one Ultra, Francesco from Turin, as saying: "Years back some of us moved to London for work. We began following local teams. "At the start [the local fans] were suspicious of us, but once they got to know us they accepted us." He said fighting on the "front line" earns the Italians respect. Italian police fear the Ultras have picked up British tricks of the trade and taken them back to Italy. Italian football violence often involves flares and missiles thrown at players — but the Italians are picking up a more subtle "British" approach including not wearing club colours, moving in small groups, not attacking opponents at the ground and fixing fights at hidden sites. Manchester United and Roma fans clashed last season | |

| More effort needed on football hooliganism - 06/09/2007Source : DutchNews Football clubs, supporters, local councils and the police are not doing enough to prevent and combat football hooliganism, according to the latest report by the hooliganism monitoring group Auditteam. The report, which looked at 70 incidents in the 2006-2007 season, says clubs and councils are ignoring guidelines and breaking agreements. In particular, the rise in offensive chanting from the stands is a cause for concern, says Auditteam. Only FC Utrecht showed a firm line on dealing with racist and discriminatory chants. Most incidents take place either just outside the stadium or in inner city areas, the report shows. The buses of rival fans are also a popular target for vandalism. The report particular criticises the way officials dealt with crowd trouble at the friendly match between the Young Holland and Young Moroccan teams in May. Some 47 people were arrested in connection with the event and damage valued at €75,000 was caused to Tilburg stadium. Other incidents on which the report focussed included serious crowd trouble at two matches involving ADO Den Haag. Home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst says it is regrettable that the guidelines on dealing with hooligans are not being followed. It is up to people on the ground to take charge, she says. 'I can hardly go to the stadium and shout 'boys, stop it' myself,' the minister was quoted as saying in todays’ Volkskrant. | |

| Hooliganism threatens the fabric of Argentine football - 05/09/2007Source : SI.com Hooligans and football have always gone together like fish and chips, but in Argentina, they've never had as much influence on the sport as they do now. The effects of hooliganism are getting way out of hand, to the point that the fútbol has taken a back seat to violence and corruption. Argentina has arguably the most passionate fans in the world. Its league is by far the most popular in Latin America. But this isn't only because of the quality of its football -- it's also because of the fierce rivalries between its teams and Argentines' unmatched obsession with the sport. I've been to several top matches in Argentina over the last few years, including the last two superclásicos between archrivals Boca Juniors and River Plate, and almost every time I've witnessed some level of violence. There's no question the reason why violence has become an integral part of the game in Argentina is because the passionate supporters often get carried away with the loyalty they have for their teams. In recent years, this obsession has manifested itself into massive-scale crowd violence during and after games, and has often ended in deaths. For the average fan, attending matches isn't safe anymore. But the most troubling part is that the soccer authorities -- and even the Argentine government -- have been unable to find a solution. Powerhouse club River Plate has been at the center of the problem this year. Last month, Gonzalo Acro -- a former member of the club's barra brava, or violent gang -- was gunned down, not by an opposing fan, but allegedly by a member of Los Borrachos del Tablón, the hooligan group to which he belonged. In Argentina, not only do fans of opposing teams clash, but so do fans of the same team, as the main barra bravas have different factions that are constantly fighting for power. These gangs are professional organizations that deal with large amounts of money, and normally consist of between 100 to 300 members. One of the biggest groups, Boca Juniors' La Doce ("The Twelfth Man") -- whose leader, Rafael Di Zeo, was imprisoned in March -- is said to consist of around 2,000 members. As Argentina's main national newspaper, Clarín, recently declared, "Not only do club directors and players fund the barra bravas, but so do celebrities and politicians." (Many clubs deny any association with the gangs.) Most barra bravas have similar roles. On Sundays, they attend their club's matches and set the scene in the terraces, chanting for their team while creating an intimidating atmosphere for the opposition in the middle of the stands behind the goals. But their roles change during the week. Some members of barra bravas are also well-paid employees of their club. Acro, for instance, received a hefty salary from River Plate for cleaning and doing maintenance on the club's pools, a fact River president José María Aguilar admitted after Acro's death. According to an investigation conducted by local magazine Debate, one of the most important and most controversial duties of some higher-level barra bravas is taking part in player transfers, where the gangs are said to receive large commissions from the multimillion-dollar sales of young Argentine players. For instance, the magazine found that when River Plate sold Gonzalo Higuaín to Real Madrid for around $18 million last December, the higher-ups of River's barra brava fought for a percentage of the transfer fee. Many believe that this was at the heart of a shootout that occurred in the club's facilities, right outside the Monumental stadium, on Feb. 11 before a league game against Lanús. Acro's death on Aug. 9, meanwhile, came days after River approved the transfer of goalie Juan Pablo Carrizo to Italian club Lazio for $10 million. Debate also reported that the roles of the lower-level barra bravas often include reselling tickets for higher values (often fakes) and distributing drugs and weapons. Most members also have very good relationships with their team's players. Earlier in the year, star Boca Juniors strikers Martín Palermo and Rodrigo Palacio visited six members of La Doce -- including Di Zeo -- in jail after they were imprisoned for violent attacks against fans of Chacarita Juniors in 1999. The Argentine Football Association has tried its best to solve the problem, but its methods haven't had much success. In the '06 Apertura championship, which was won by Estudiantes de La Plata, the level of violence was one of the highest in the history of Argentine soccer. Several matches were suspended due to violent acts triggered by the barra bravas, including death threats against players, coaches, club presidents and referees. Meanwhile, there was ongoing crowd violence between fans inside and outside the stadiums. The authorities decided to ban fans from traveling to away games for the last four matches of the season, and it seemed that the violence had come to an immediate halt. It's been nearly a year since then, and even though the violence in stadiums has evidently decreased, the situation with the barra bravas has spun completely out of control. After scouring the Internet forums of Los Borrachos del Tablón, Clarín found that members of Acro's faction claimed they plan to avenge his death, while River president Aguilar admitted that he fears for his life after receiving death threats. As a result, River -- the most affected club in the First Division -- had its first two matches of the season postponed. When it finally made its Apertura debut against reigning champion San Lorenzo earlier this month, the number of match tickets the club was provided was limited. The Federal Police also sent AFA a formal list of the 52 suspected violent barra bravas that would be declined entry into the stadium. Between the high levels of corruption and violence, Argentine soccer is in a state of chaos. Until the barra bravas are wiped out, Argentine stadiums will continue to be a war zone and wholly unfit for fans. The authorities have tried their best to clean up the game, but the problem just keeps getting worse. The fact that the violence is spreading outside the stadiums could well mean the implementation of further bans on the game. But if this doesn't help fix the problem, it could soon be the end of the Argentine First Division. Brawling gangs aren't new in Argentina, but how high up the food chain their influence goes is staggering -- and worsening quickly. | |

| New photos in police soccer probe - 05/09/2007Source : BBC News West Yorkshire Police have released 10 new pictures as part of a poster appeal about suspected football hooligans. The ten men are believed to have been involved in pitch clashes which followed last season's home game between Leeds United and Ipswich Town. Police said 17 people have so far been identified. They have either been dealt with by the courts or action against them is ongoing. The pictures are the latest in an ongoing crackdown on football disorder. Det Insp Phil Wright, leading the enquiry, said: "With the new season well under way, some people may think they have got away with it. "Today we are showing them that they haven't and we will continue to bring those involved to justice." | |

| Crystal Palace - Charlton Athletic - 01/09/2007

Footie fans clash before derby match
Warring football hooligans from Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic clashed in Croydon town centre on Saturday.
Witnesses in Croydon's High Street saw Eagles and Addicks supporters brawling before the Selhurst Park game and at the match later on Saturday afternoon.
Two men were arrested at the ground, before the game ended in a 1-0 defeat for Palace.
advertisementIn a separate incident a 24-year-old man had his nose broken when violence erupted on a train carrying fans to the match.
British Transport Police say around 30 people, who they believe were mostly Palace fans, were throwing cans and bottles around at Sydenham station at around 2.20pm on Saturday.
They then got onto the train where they smashed up more bottles.
The 24-year-old, who was not part of the group, was punched and his nose broken. His brother and father were also punched but were not seriously injured.
Fans of the two clubs have a long history of rivalry based largely on the fact they are both south London clubs.
But it turned bitter in 1989 when the clubs took part in the first ground share in the football league. Palace let Charlton move to Selhurst after The Valley was shut down.
Matters were made worse in May 2005 when Charlton supporters cheered with delight as a 2-2 draw at their ground consigned Palace to relegation from the Premiership.
More recently, the rivalry was intensified by the departure of former Palace manager Iain Dowie who moved from Selhurst Park to Charlton in May last year.
Palace chairman Simon Jordan took Dowie to the High Court and succesfully sued him for breaching his contract with the club.
He claimed that the former Northern Ireland international made "fraudulent misrepresentations" when he left the club on May 22 last year under a compromise agreement.
At the time of his resignation Dowie told Jordan he wanted to be nearer his family. The Eagles supremo was incensed when he later took a job a mere 12 miles from the team he had previously managed.
Speaking about the hooligans at Saturday's game Councillor Steve O'Connell said: "I am aware there were some arrests at the match itself but I have not heard that there was any disorder in the town centre itself."

| 12 football yobs in court after town centre violence - 04/09/2007
Source : Mansfield Chad
RED cards have been handed out to 11 football hooligans who fought in front of terrified families in Mansfield town centre. The confrontation took place between groups from Mansfield and Chesterfield on Bank Holiday Saturday in August last year, shortly before the Stags' clash with Lincoln City.
During the fracas, a heavy advertising sign was hurled and punches thrown by one man before a large Mansfield group chased a smaller Chesterfield group along Leeming Street –– passing a children's bouncy castle set-up as part of a fun fair in the market place.
Nottingham Crown Court was told how some of the Chesterfield contingent were in Mansfield because they were already banned from the centre of their home town.
Recorder Judge Michael Stokes told all the accused: "What occurred was completely unacceptable. I have no doubt a number of innocent Mansfield citizens were frightened by what occurred although it was over very quickly."
The accused all admitted affray and five of the thugs were given Football Banning Orders –– which can ban fans from grounds, trouble hotspots and even public transport on matchdays.
