His life was only saved when courageous cop Martin braved missiles to give CPR to Andrew as he lay motionless in the street.
Mr Martin, a 46-year-old dad of three daughters was invited to Paris to receive a Ministry of the Interior medal.
He told the Mirror: “I am very proud and honoured.
“I received this medal on behalf of all the French and British authorities – especially the police and CRS in Marseilles.”

Football fan from Gloucester stabbed in Slovakia
Football fan Craig Rosie is recovering in hospital in Bratislava after he was stabbed during violent clashes after England's World Cup Qualifying game.
Craig was rushed to hospital to be treated for chest and abdomen wounds after he was set upon in a pub in the main square.
Now his distraught wife Danielle is appealing for help to get her husband home. Craig is still recovering 900 miles away from Danielle, their two sons Callum, 13 and nine-year-old Thomas and his daughter Kirsty, 19. The family, who live in Linden, are in shock after receiving the news.
Danielle said: "He was in a pub in the centre of Bratislava on Saturday night and there was some trouble. The Slovakian fans started fighting with them. " The next thing one of Craig's friends said his top was ripped and he was bleeding then realised he had been stabbed, Craig felt nothing I think it was due to shock.
"You can not even imagine how worried and scared we all are, we are 900 miles apart and there is nothing we can do. We just want Craig home safe."
Thankfully the 42-year-old Bristol Rovers and Gloucester City fan is recovering well from his injuries but Danielle explained he is currently unable to get home.
She said: "He is ok very sore and very tired, the operation went ok and now just recovery but the doctors are saying he's not able to fly due to air pressure to his lungs.
"Everyone has been so supportive our family and friends have been amazing. All we want now is to get Craig home."
Four Brits and two Slovak citizens were arrested and taken to a police station following the violent clashes between fans.
A police spokesman told the Sun: "During this conflict an English citizen suffered a stab wound in his abdomen and he was transported to a hospital."
Craig's friend, Craig Broderick has set up a crowdfunding appeal to help get his pal home.
He said: "Calling on all my pals. There was a stabbing of a Rovers fan watching England in Slovakia Saturday night , he's currently still in hospital in Bratislava but has been told he can't fly home until at least Friday and because of the nature of his injury basically a stab wound through the chest even that may not yet be possible so we're looking for other ways to get him home which would mean couple of the lads flying back out then either helping to get back via train or hire car . Looking to get a whip round going so any contributions will be greatly appreciated so we can get this lad home back to his family safe and sound , if you can help I'm going to set up payment via PayPal if you are willing help Craig Rosie out please send payment via PayPal by clicking the following link : paypal.me/cbroderick"

Four injured as hooligans attack venue of Greek soccer league draw - 06/09/2016
Source : http://www.ekathimerini.com/
About 30 helmeted hooligans attacked the Athens restaurant where the draw for the Greek second division football league took place resulting in four injuries and damages to facilities, parked cars and media equipment.
One news photographer was taken to hospital with cuts and bruises late Monday while three others were treated by ambulance crews.
Deputy Sports Minister Stavros Kontonis said the attack “demonstrates the deep crisis which has engulfed Greek football”.
Witnesses said the hooligans charged into the outdoor facilities soon after the draw had concluded and overturned tables and chairs, broke bottles, lit a flare and roughed up whoever stood in their way.
The troublemakers left before police arrived.
The draw was attended by Greek football federation president Giorgos Girtzikis as well as Football League president Stelios Sfakianakis.
“It was brutal violence. Ultimately football is once again the victim,” Girtzikis said.
The Greek government last month put back the start of the Super League fearing violence after weeks of bickering between the state, the federation and major clubs.
The championship was supposed to begin on August 20 and indications are it will begin this coming weekend after the state and the federation have apparently put aside their differences as to how the league should be administered.

Bristol City fans take police to court claiming supporters were falsely imprisoned in Birmingham - 08/09/2016
Source : http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/
Bristol City and its supporters club are taking the unprecedented step of suing West Midlands Police, claiming that officers falsely imprisoned more than 50 fans who were stopped from attending the away match at Birmingham City last season.
A total of 51 supporters were rounded up in Birmingham before the game on September 12 last year and marched back to New Street station and forcibly put back on trains to Bristol.
Now the club and its official supporters' organisation has issued an urgent appeal to fans who were among those sent back, to see if they want to join the group action.
The first stage of the court case, which is being paid for by the Bristol City Supporters Club & Trust, and backed by Bristol City FC, starts tomorrow, after the club, the Trust and the national Football Supporters Federation came together to mount the legal action, initially on behalf of one fan.
Some 50 other fans were rounded up after drinking in and around the Square Peg Wetherspoon's pub in Birmingham that day, and sent back to Bristol before the match, which Birmingham City won 4-2, had kicked off.
The supporters club says this was 'false imprisonment' and a breach of the European Convention on Human Rights.
A lawyer was hired who wrote to the police in January this year, but West Midlands Police failed to respond until the middle of August, and the time limit placed on claims is due to expire, prompting Bristol City to issue the appeal to fans on its website and Facebook page today, with proceedings being issued tomorrow.

"I was at the game and there was a high police presence," explained Stu Rogers, the chairman of the Supporters Club & Trust. "What is now very clear is that a number of innocent fans were rounded up, branded as hooligans and forced into a 90-minute march back to the train station."
A spokesman for Bristol City added: "The Supporters Club & Trust, Bristol City Football Club and the legal team believe this is wrong. Due to the delayed response from West Midlands Police, the time limit placed on claims relating to human rights is due to expire, so we intend to issue court proceedings on Friday this week.
"The Supporters Club & Trust is paying the court fees. The dual purpose of bringing this action is to ensure that future use of these dispersal powers is not abused and to secure compensation for those affected.
"We are interested in hearing from any fans who were innocently caught up in this, particularly any that were drinking in and around the Square Peg Wetherspoons pub and then made their way on foot towards St Andrews from 2.30pm that day.
"Please e-mail stu@bristolcityst.org.uk with a contact telephone number. A member of the legal team will then call you to gather some basic information and discuss whether you wish to join the claim."

Jewish fans met with Nazi salutes as Italian supporters boo Israel's national anthem during World Cup qualifier
Jewish fans were met with Nazi salutes by a section of the travelling Italian supporters who booed Israel's national anthem during their World Cup qualifier. Several Italian fans were also seen taunting Jewish fans and spitting at them. The Israel Football Association (IFA) has complained to the Italian Football Federation following their fans' conduct on Monday night.
Police removed two fans from the Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa for giving the Nazi salute during the Italian national anthem. Police only chose to throw out the fans and did not arrest them. Supporters were also recorded booing and whistling during the Israel national anthem, 'Hatikva'. For all the glamour and glitz of Italian football, there is an ugly side to the sport in the country, with racism and fascism displayed by many fans, players and coaches. In a statement the IFA said: 'We will send the photos to the Italian federation with which we have a warm and brave relationship so that it can find and prosecute the sickening minority that wanted to tarnish the visiting fans, their team and their country.' After the footage came to light, Italian Football Federation President Carlo Tavecchio called the Israeli ambassador to Italy, Francesco Maria Talo, to condemn the incident. He said he hopes 'the relevant authorities can determine as soon as possible what happened and identify those responsible.'

Toilets at Celtic Park damaged after Old Firm clash
Extensive damage has been caused to a toilet block at Celtic Park after the first Old Firm league derby in Glasgow in four years. Police Scotland said it was aware of the damage but the club was dealing with it as an internal matter. Celtic beat Rangers 5-1 after Moussa Dembele scored a hat-trick. One man was arrested for an alcohol-related offence but police said the majority of fans behaved well. Pictures of the vandalism showed doors pulled off hinges and ceiling tiles torn down.
Ch Supt Brian McInulty said: "I would like to thank all the supporters who came to enjoy the match today in a safe and responsible manner. "You listened to what we asked and behaved accordingly which has helped our officers ensure the safety of everyone attending the venue. "All fans came out to enjoy the match and soak up the atmosphere and this is what football should be all about. "I sincerely hope that the good spirits of both sets of supporters continues throughout the rest of the day and the rest of the evening."

Fighting breaks out ‘among West Ham fans’ at Olympic Stadium after Watford loss
FIGHTING broke out among West Ham fans at the Olympic Stadium as scared children left the ground in tears.
But tensions boiled over in the stands - as supporters of Slaven Bilic's side apparently started on each other.
Some messages posted to social media claimed that the stewards were not quick enough to intervene when trouble started.
One user claimed to have seen five different scraps between Hammers fans.
And he even said one of the bust-ups was over a spilled drink.
SunSport reporter Duncan Wright was at the scene, he said: "West Ham face serious questions over their crowd safety after fighting broke out at the Olympic Stadium.
"Hammers fans attempted to start brawls with Watford fans as they watched the Hornets win 4-2.
"And the lack of reaction from stewards on duty allowed trouble to spill out between rival supporters.
"Fighting went on for five minutes without any other stewards of police rushing to quash the trouble midway through the second half.
"There is minimal segregation in the stadium, and the dozen or so stewards patrolling the area were powerless to prevent the problem.
"It is the second match marred by trouble, with footage emerging of fighting during the Europa League defeat to Astra.
"On that occasion it emerged the stewards were not trained to physically intervene in trouble."
West Ham later released a state condemning the scenes and vowing to ban for life individuals involved.
The statement read: "West Ham United unreservedly condemn the behaviour of the individuals involved in incidents during today's fixture against Watford.
"While these isolated incidents were quickly brought under control, this behaviour has no place in football and West Ham United will work tirelessly to eradicate such incidents.
"We are currently undertaking an immediate full review with all stakeholders. This includes police, stadium landlord and operator LS185, who are responsible for appointing and managing stewards and security, to ensure we eradicate such incidents moving forward.

MIDDLESBROUGH AND CRYSTAL PALACE FC FANS CLASH FOLLOWING MATCH
Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace fans have clashed following today’s match at The Riverside Stadium.
Officers struggled to control the situation that was unfolding in front of them as the two sets of fans came together as they left the stadium.
Incidents like this have no place in football and those involved should be ashamed of their actions.
The football match was very peaceful with a great atmosphere with most people managing to avoid any violence.
But sadly it’s the few that spoil it for everyone. A number of people required medical treatment following the clashes. Fans from both teams were involved equally in the violence.
One police officer held a Middlesbrough fan back away from the Ultras who were trying to attack the Middlesbrough fans heading home after the match.
Officers placed themselves between to two sets of fans to stop the fighting and prevent any further fighting.
Cleveland Police and the Met Police in small numbers managed to keep the two sets of fans separated as they both continued to hurl abuse at each other and attempted to get back to each other.
Officers formed a human wall between the Middlesbrough fans and Crystal Palace to keep them separated after fights broke out. Once the Crystal Palace fans were contained Middlesbrough fans they attempted to get back at the Crystal Palace fans.
While officers held the Middlesbrough fans back Crystal Palace then attempted to force their way out of the police wall to get to the Middlesbrough fans as the limited number of officers police the football match. This forced police to close the road and hold all of the remaining Middlesbrough fans back and allowing Crystal Palace fans to be walked to the Train Station without further incidents from the Middlesbrough fans. Police managed to regain control of the situation and marched them down to the Train Station.
Middlesbrough fans then attempted to get back towards the Crystal Palace. The officers who were thin on the ground compared to last months first Middlesbrough match in the Premier League managed to keep Middlesbrough fans back
A set of fans who call themselves the Ultra’s from Crystal Palace dressed all in black some with their faces covered caused fights between the boro fans after the 2 – 1 defeat.
Fearing he is about to be attacked one of the officers draws his baton as things start to get heated. Sadly children and families are caught up in the fighting.
Before they arrived at the match the Ultras posted a photo to facebook which they paraded themselves. There is no place in football for Ultras who wore all black, with their faces covered during the match.
The group of Ultras were walked from the Stadium to the Train Station and held there until their train arrived.
A number of police officers were assaulted while policing today’s match. No arrests were made however a number of people were cautioned on the streets and interviewed on video camera.
Officers did not have the support of Police Dogs, Police Horses or the Air support unit during the match.
Officers relying on a more cost-effective way to keep their eyes from the sky. Police Officers look out of the command centre window at the top the Stadium to have an overhead view of what is happening.
So were sure Cleveland Police will be knocking on a few people’s doors over the coming weeks.
Cleveland Police and the Met Police did a great job under challenging circumstances.

Hansa Rostock fans criticised for Bin Laden banner
Former Bundesliga mainstays Hansa Rostock may be out of the limelight down in the German third-tier, but their fans are still drawing attention, this time with a banner depicting Osama Bin Laden on the anniversary weekend of the 9/11 terror attacks.During their 1-1 draw with Aalen, the Baltic side's supporters unfurled the sign in their latest anti-American display, amid long-lasting anger over the east German town's suffering during the Second World War.The incident follows the controversy of Rostock's promotion in 2011, which saw an image of Bin Laden revealed in the crowd, captioned by the pun "Bin aufgestiegen" (been promoted). This time around, a potential stadium ban could be placed on the third division side, either for the individuals involved or a wider part of the Ostseestadion."This was a very stupid act of little taste," Hansa managing director Robert Marien said of the banner.

Manchester United fans urged not to wear club colours for Feyenoord trip - 14/09/2016
Source : http://www.espnfc.co.uk/
Manchester United fans travelling to their Europa League match against Feyenoord on Thursday to have been advised to dress "conservatively."
The letter from the Premier League club comes in the wake of safety concerns in Rotterdam following crowd trouble involving the Dutch side.
Earlier this month, United fans hit out at the reduced ticket allocation they are receiving for the fixture, which saw supporters clash when they met in 1997.
The Times reported that United supporters have been granted 1,400 tickets for the game at the De Kuip stadium, which is set to host just half of the usual 52,000 capacity.
