One image that has always stood in my mind and one that blows away the myth that shirters are never game is when we were being escorted back to the station at Bolton, 82-83. Subway on one side of the road and the Bolton on the other. We had exchanged blows in sporadic ventures into the central gulf between the both sets of fans, however, the closer we got to the station the bigger their firm got and the smaller ours due to the Wolves fans that were in the escort by default and not choice made their way to cars etc. In sight of the station we were directed across the road, Bolton seized this opportunity to have a last charge before we were in the sanctuary of the station and waiting hordes of OB. It was a pointless attack because the OB jockey’s had arrived and erected the accustomed equestrian wall between the masses. Anyway, out of the blue this Wolves shirt with scarves on both wrists comes from amongst the Bolton lads, he was battered and blood streaming down his chest, he shouted at us, ‘come on you lot, with your fancy clothes. Lets have them’ we didn’t know whether to be embarrassed for him or ourselves but when he went straight back into them our eyes couldn’t believe it, our embarrassment became shame as none of us broke through OB to assist him. He was eventually saved and arrested and paradoxically we perceived him to be a silly twat, yet it have been different if he was one of us ‘dressers’. On the way back a few of us popped into Manchester for a drink, my mind struggled with what had happened, the scarfer seemed to be fighting with more passion, anger and vigour, more than I had ever done on my own, yet I was one of the Subway. Respect to the lone scarfer who ever you are.

Had a twenty on twenty on quarry lane just before the game,a right good set to.There had been one or two scuffles around the ground, but this one was a good one. When ob arrived they nicked 2 stockport lads, but the Mansfield lads stepped in and saved them from getting nicked.

An infamous game that was a real nail in Bolton's relegation coffin and kept Chelsea up. Hundreds of seats ripped out of the Burnden Paddock stand and thrown down on to Bolton fans who promptly threw them back. Major trouble also in the Manny Road North stand between the gathered regulard and around 200 Chelsea who invaded the last block of seating, nearest the Embankment. Clive Walker scored the goal - that bastard always scored against us. Despite the fact it was May it chucked down most of the day and Burden was a mudbath.

Blackburn Rovers – Burnley FC - 04/04/1983.
Source : http://ewoodpark.jimdo.com
Protected by the police and the recently erected perimeter fencing, two or three Burnley fans clambered onto the Darwen End roof, ripped 3 or 4 tiles off it, struggling to throw them onto the pitch and instead hitting their own supporters, huddled behind the goal. This was done in attempt to get the game abandoned. The game was stopped and the Burnley manager came onto the pitch to address the Burnley fans in an attempt to instill some calm. Order was restored and the game restarted. Simon Garner stood to take a penalty and a brick was thrown from the Burnley fans that landed at his feet. Garner scored from the penalty. A coin and a whisky bottle were also thrown at Terry Gennoe.
A solitary Burnley fan had also taken the care to weld together two darts so that the weapon had a double-headed spike. It was smuggled into Ewood Park and hurled into the Blackburn Rovers penalty area. This particularly cowardly individual attack from the terraces on a lone Goal Keeper came when Terry Gennoe was the goalkeeper in a Blackburn Rovers side inflicting a defeat on Burnley that would help send them down from the Division 2 and into a spiral of decline whereby they would not play Blackburn Rovers again competitively in the league for 17 years.

About 50 of us went in their end before the game and then ruined their post match celebrations on the pitch when they beat us and won the league.
