| Denmark v England - 17/08/2005Source : AFP + empics Police crack down on travelling England thugsTwo people were stopped from travelling to Copenhagen for England's friendly against Denmark on Wednesday as British police clamped down on suspected hooligans. The two were held in the northern English cities of Manchester and Bradford on Tuesday under Operation Dado, designed to prevent more than 3,000 people slapped with banning orders from travelling to England's away games. A Scotland Yard spokesman said the operation, launched Friday and focusing on London's airports, was designed to send out a tough message to those attempting to go to England games that violence would not be tolerated. "This is the first international match of the football season, and those who intend to breach their football banning orders, and those who we have intelligence to suggest they intend to travel to cause disorder, will be detained if they attempt to leave the country," he said. "We want to keep football for the fans, not the thugs." _________________ | |

| Police appeal to trace supporters -17/08/2005
Source : BBC NEWS
Police in Nuneaton have released CCTV images of four men they believe were involved in violence before a football match in the town earlier this year.
Fighting broke out between supporters from Nuneaton Borough and Kettering Town football clubs outside the Nag's Head pub in Queen's Road on 30 April. Police were confronted by fans throwing bricks, bottles and glasses. One man suffered a suspected fractured skull. It is believed the four men police want to trace are from the Nuneaton area.
'Serious incident'
Detectives investigating the incident said the 38-year-old man who suffered the suspected fractured skull was from Kettering and spent several days in the Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry before being released. A 35-year-old man, also from Kettering, suffered cuts to his face but was released from hospital after treatment. Both men have now recovered. In all around 85 police officers, including officers from Leicestershire and West Midlands police, were involved in controlling the violence. An estimated 600 Kettering supporters and 1,500 Nuneaton Borough supporters later attended the football match which passed off without any further trouble. _________________

| Match hooligan crackdown begins - 20/08/2005
Source : BBC NEWS
A major police operation to beat violent hooliganism is under way at football matches in Dorset.
Officers, along with the Crown Prosecution Service, aim to clamp down on bad behaviour during the new season at AFC Bournemouth. Anyone seen causing trouble will be identified, arrested and prosecuted to get a Football Banning Order. They will be banned from matches at home or abroad for three years, and face jail if the order is breached. Twelve men and one woman in Bournemouth, aged from 17 to 44, are already subject to Football Banning Orders. John Revell, chief crown prosecutor for Dorset, said: "We know the vast majority of Bournemouth fans have a fantastic reputation and don't want their enjoyment to be spoiled by violent, racist or anti-social yobs. "Hooligans hate and fear Football Banning Orders, so we will be using them as a key weapon against trouble-makers. "If you are arrested for football-related disorder at a Bournemouth match - or in the streets or pubs around the town - we will seek to prosecute you.
Airport arrests
"And if England qualify for the World Cup or Euro 2008 - you won't be going," he continued. Information about banning orders is also being shared between police forces. Insp Martyn Webster, of Dorset Police, said: "Two well-known Bournemouth hooligans recently tried to get to an England international game from Gatwick Airport. "Information about banned people is shared across the country, so our colleagues at Sussex Police were quickly able to identify the men and arrest them at the airport." _________________

| 1. FC Union Berlin - BFC Dynamo - 21/08/2005Source : REÜTERS Police arrest 180 in raid ahead of Berlin derbyPolice arrested more than 180 people during a raid at a nightclub on the eve of Sunday's lower division derby match between Dynamo Berlin and Union Berlin. The nightclub is known as a meeting place for hardcore fans of Dynamo, police said in a statement. Most of those detained were kept under arrest during the fourth division match, which was won 8-0 by Union Berlin and passed off without reports of crowd trouble. Hooliganism is one of the main concerns ahead of the World Cup, which Germany is hosting in 2006. While outbreaks of violence are now extremely rare in the Bundesliga, clashes between fans of lower division clubs are more common. German fans smashed windows of cars and restaurants ahead of a friendly international in Slovenia in March and there were further incidents during and after the game. During the World Cup, a special intelligence unit will operate in Germany's interior ministry to deal with security threats, including hooliganism. http://bz.berlin1.de/pdfviewer/pdfviewer.php3/archiv/050822_pdf/6 http://bz.berlin1.de/pdfviewer/pdfviewer.php3/archiv/050822_pdf/7 _________________ | |

| Rochdale - Bradford City - 23/08/2005
Source : SPORTINGlife
West Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation after Bradford City's team coach was attacked following Saturday's game at Rotherham.
The Bantams were travelling back from their 1-1 draw Millmoor on the M1 when two thugs hurled bricks from a bridge near junction 40.
The missiles hit the coach but the driver was able to retain control.
Club secretary Jon Pollard, who was sitting at the front of the coach, said: "They are complete idiots and could have caused a major disaster.
"If the bricks had been a few inches lower they would have hit the windscreen right in front of the driver's face. There was one hell of a bang when they hit the coach and the top of the windscreen is a mess.
"Thankfully he was able to keep complete control of the vehicle and got us back safe."
Police are now searching for the two culprits, both of whom are believed to be around 12 years old. _________________

| FC Zürich - Legia Warszawa - 25/08/2005
Source: gepflegt-arrogant.net
After the game FC Zurich - Legia Warsaw there were heavy excesses around the Letzigrund stadium. Approximately 100 City Boys, Hardturmfront and Zurich Ultras tried to penetrate from the outside into the Polish block. The police had to use tear gas and water thrower to expel the mob. The Polish block was fired with bottles and flares at again and again. Polish hooligans answered this likewise with projectiles. Legia had traveled with approx. 65 C-people and approximately 60 - 100 Ultras (data without guarantee). As the Polish went outside, there were incidents between the two mobs on the parking ************************************************************ Source: Zurich forum
UEFA Cup match last night had big riots after the match (Zurich-Legia Warsaw). Also involved was Grasshoppers Hardturmfront/Den Haag and small amount of Juventus.
Zurich hooligans/ultras had to stand on the side instead of the usual position of the Sud Kurve behind the goal because of security reasons. After the match Zurich City Boys and Ultras began to fight with Grasshoppers Zurich Hardturmfront outside the Letzigrund stadion. Approx. 100-150 City Boys / 100-150 Zurcher Ultras / 50-70 Hardturmfront went to the Polish (Legia/Den Haag/Juventus) Kurve 30 mins after the match. Zurcher run to the Legia Kurve, there we waited for Legia to come out of the stadion.
Out came Legia/Den Haag/Juve and all hell broke loose. Zurcher attacked Polish and Polish attacked Zurcher. Toe-toe (200+ v 200+). Riots all over. Police interviened with tear gas and water cannons. Both Swiss & Polish began to attack Police with weapons. Legia were with 60-80 Cat C. lads and 80+ Ultras and some normal Legia fans joined in. After that, 10 mins later, Zurcher met Legia again in a car park (80-100 v 80-100).
All together Legia had 500 fans from Warsaw in the stadion.
PS: Also, some other Swiss firms were involved (Basel/Lugano/Luzern) but not many of them, mainly FC Zurich and Grasshoppers Zurich.
RESPECT TO LEGIA _________________

| Police prepare for Millwall match - 27/08/2005Source : BBC NEWS A big security operation to swing into action on Monday to stop any repeat of the violent scenes 20 years ago when Luton Town played Millwall at home. When the two clubs met in 1985, Kenilworth Road witnessed some of football's worst scenes of violence with rioting on the pitch. More than 100 officers will police Monday's all-ticket match. Police said nearby re-development work would stop and any objects that could be used as missiles cleared. Police spokesman Pete Palmer said things had moved on since the violent scene of 1985 and officers had been gathering intelligence information for weeks. He said roadworks and disruption in the town had been taken into account. The kick off has been brought forward to 1200 BST. "We are judging the Millwall fans on our intelligence, not their reputation," he said. "Policing has moved on. We are used to big matches at Kenilworth Road and we work hard at our intelligence and ahead of the match we have done a lot of planning so we are hoping it will be a successful day for both Luton Town and the police." _________________ | |

| Arrests over attack on soccer fan - 25/08/2005
Source : BBC NEWS
Police have made a number of arrests in connection with an attack which left a Manchester United fan from Shropshire in a coma.
Jamie Turner, 45, from Telford, suffered serious head injuries in a fight involving 20 people before a game at Southampton in May.
He regained consciousness in June and has started walking again.
Hampshire Police said those arrested in the last fortnight have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Final day
Police were not prepared to say how many people were taken to Southampton central police station for questioning.
Mr Turner is now back at home after being treated at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Wessex Neurological Unit at Southampton General Hospital.
The brawl happened outside the Gladstone Club on Clifford Street on the final day of the last Premiership season.
Southampton were relegated after losing 2-1 against United. _________________
