| Aris Salonika face relegation after court decision - 19/05/2005
Source : AFP
Aris Salonika face relegation to the second division after a decision by the Greek Association of Football Clubs' first instance court to punish the team for crowd violence at last Sunday's home match against cross-town rival Iraklis.
The court ruled that the match will be awarded to Iraklis 2-0 and that Aris will be penalized three points.
It also slapped Aris with a fine of 100,000 euros and ruled that the club would have to play the next six home matches without spectators.
Aris is expected to make an appeal on the decision although it has a very slim chance of having the penalty reduced.
If the court decision stands, Aris will be demoted to the lower division as it is currently in 14th place in the 16-team league with one more match remaining in the season. The bottom three clubs drop to the second division.
Fans stormed the pitch on Sunday when Aris had scored a goal in the 41st minute but with Iraklis ahead 2-1.
The referee abandoned the match after a one and a half hour wait following injury to two Iraklis players by irate Aris fans. _________________

| Brest - Lorient - 21/05/2005 Source : mail This game was classified at high risks as Brest ultras caused troubles in Lorient some months ago and especially because Merlu Ultras from Lorient have stolen a Ultras Brestois banner. Many locals waited for visitors but these ones, by coaches, were escorted to the stadium at their own request. About 350/400 locals waitied behind police line and several missiles were threw at visitors. During half-time, locals fought with stewards inside their stand. At the end of the game, as locals were out the the stadium, Merlu Ultras provoked a few locals who threw seats. _________________ | |

| Rennes - RC Strasbourg - 21/05/05
Source: Third Half Time forum - local view
On our side (Breizh Stourmer), we met up at 2pm. About 25 of u, waited for RCS lads. At 4.30pm several phonecalls were exchanged. Strasbourg fans were in the city centre but refused an off as they weren't interesting about it. Finally, one hour before kick off, 4 of us with stadium bans + 3 others took the road of the away fans terrace... Ultra Boys are now arriving and are about 25 so we fronted them. First, they back off but their leaders came back. A fight erupted and we're outnumbered and receive many punches. We retreat before coming back for a second off. Finally, 2 of us were transfered at hospital and a visitor was injured. _________________

| Men arrested over football appeal - 24/05/2005
Source : BBC NEWS
More than 100 people have responded to an appeal from West Yorkshire Police to track down 28 people they want to speak to in relation to football violence.
Three men have been arrested as a result. Two have been released on bail while a third is still in custody. Police published photographs, several of them of children, who were in a group outside Leeds United's football ground when trouble flared. More than 100 supporters clashed with police following a match in January. Eleven people already face charges and appear in court on Wednesday. Det Supt Phil Sedgwick, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are receiving numerous names for a number of the suspects and my officers are out investigating each of them. "It could be that none of these names are correct so the more we have to investigate, the better." The investigations were being conducted discreetly, he added. "If these people have not been involved then they will have nothing to worry about. "Some of those pictured have themselves been in touch and we have made arrangements to speak with them." The violence in January followed a match against Cardiff City. Stones and rocks were thrown at police, who had been called in to break up a group of fans gathering near the away supporters' stand. Missiles were also thrown after Leeds played West Ham United on 26 February. _________________

| Nigerian supporters attack referee after Enugu Rangers eliminated - 23/05/2005
Source : AFP
A Malian referee was assaulted by Nigerian fans as the qualifying phase of the African Confederation Cup came to a stormy end. Supporters of Enugu Rangers reportedly flung Coman Coulibaly to the ground and beat him after the club were eliminated on away goals by Moroccan visitors FAR Rabat in the second leg of a fourth round tie. Enugu came from behind to win the return match 2-1 having trailed 1-0 from the first leg in North Africa two weeks ago. The game was delayed 24 hours due to torrential rain at the weekend. Riot police had to rescue Coulibaly, his Malian assistants and match commissioner Alhaji Jawula from Ghana from a mob after the thrilling clash between former winners of African titles. _________________

| German police present World Cup security plan - ??/05/2005
Source : Reüters
German police should forget any holidays while the country hosts next year's soccer World Cup, Interior Minister Otto Schily said on Wednesday. Germany is expecting 3.2 million spectators to follow the fortunes of 32 national teams. "I hope police will go without their holiday. Many of them are fans," Schily said when presenting the country's World Cup security plan with state interior ministers. Police will be given added video surveillance capabilities to help exercise a zero-tolerance policy against hooligans and will work closely with their foreign colleagues. Up to 220 foreign police are expected to travel to the country to watch their national fan groups. Schily said it was not yet clear whether Germany would reimpose border controls for the tournament. The country is a signatory to the Schengen agreement, which abolished border passport checks between 15 European Union countries. The security policy is intended to guard against hooliganism and terror attacks. _________________

| Atletico fans face bans for threatening players - ??/05/2005
Source : Reüters
Spain's Anti-violence Commission has recommended fines and bans for seven Atletico Madrid fans who threatened the club's players and coaching staff during a training session last week. Fines of 10,000 euros and a ban from attending sporting events for a maximum of five months were proposed by the government-run body on Wednesday. On May 19, two days before the city derby against Real Madrid, a group of around 20 fans broke down a fence and disrupted a training session at the club's facilities in Majadahonda, on the outskirts of the capital. They threatened and insulted the Atletico players and staff who had to be escorted from the training ground by members of the Civil Guard. Atletico looked to be on course for a European place midway through the season but have slipped to 11th in the league and were knocked out of the King's Cup by Osasuna in the semi-finals. Their final game of the season is against near-neighbours Getafe on Sunday. _________________

| Suspected troublemakers in court - 25/05/2005
Source : West Yorkshire News
Eleven people have appeared in court following disturbances at Leeds United's Elland Road ground in January.
The cases against eight men, aged between 19 and 23, and three juveniles were adjourned until June by magistrates in Leeds on Wednesday. Police have arrested three more men after releasing CCTV pictures of 28 suspected troublemakers on Monday. Det Supt Phil Sedgwick has urged the 12 people who have not yet been identified from the poster to come forward. "If you see yourself on that picture get it over with and just ring us," he said. Trouble flared outside Elland Road following a match against Cardiff City on 15 January. _________________
