Fights are reported to have broken out between rival fans outside the ground, with police forced to deploy tear gas to break it up. The tear gas then blew on to the pitch, so players were taken to the dressing room.

Referee hit in the face by bottle thrown from stands during League One match

Following the Addicks' 2-1 defeat at home to Fleetwood Town, referee Carl Boyeson was the subject of a "disappointing" incident where a home fan launched a plastic drinks bottle at the official. The referee didn't appear seriously injured as he continued walking down the tunnel.

Tension in the stands at the end of the game

The end of the match was tense in the away fans' car park for the Reims – Troyes derby. The game was stopped because of the ESTAC supporters who descended in border of the pitch. They were stopped by the French CRS who used tear gas.

The arrival of the Troyes supporters at the Auguste Delaune stadium had already been eventful. Several arrests took place, the police also had to fire two tear gas grenades to disperse the troublemakers.

A total of eight individuals were arrested during the day. They were brought back to the Reims police station, where their hearings continued in the evening. The six away fans' coaches left the car park of the Delaune stadium around 6 p.m., under close surveillance, escorted by the police to the Taissy tollbooth on the A4 highway.

The article published in Humo, a Belgian magazine, describing certain controversial actions of Wouter Vandenhaute only reinforces the storm that the Anderlecht management is currently going through. The BCS, a group of Sporting hooligans, prefaced this afternoon's match against Saint-Truiden in their own way.

The collective has indeed locked several access doors to Lotto Park and tagged anti-Vandenhaute and anti-Coucke messages on a wall near the stadium. If the situation is now back to normal (all the doors have been unlocked and the tags erased), the meeting promises to be particularly risky.

A Nottingham city bar was battered from the outside with chairs as innocent diners, including families, ate inside as violent disorder was unleashed by Leicester City supporters. The shocking scenes were played in clips at Nottingham Crown Court as eight men are due to be sentenced tomorrow (Wednesday, February 15) for their roles in violent disorder, which they have all pleaded guilty to.

Outlining the case, prosecutor Steven Bailey said the incident was at the Fat Cat bar at lunchtime on February 6, when Nottingham Forest were playing Leicester City at home - a fourth round cup tie. The eight defendants before the court had been in the Tap & Tumbler, Wollaton Street, Nottingham, before they set off for the City Ground.

They passed the Fat Cat bar, in Chapel Bar, where a number of Forest fans were eating and drinking, as well as members of the public and young children, and the bar was not expected to be the focus of trouble. Police had asked for kick-off to be earlier than 4pm - but this was not done because the match was to be televised.

"It meant people drank quite a lot before the incident we are talking about," said Mr Bailey on Tuesday (February 14). "These two clubs contributed £30,000 towards the cost of extra policing that day - that in no way covered the total cost of policing".

As the men walked by the Fat Cat bar, one Forest fan from inside went to the front door and gesticulated towards them - but Mr Bailey said that did not need to lead to violence in this case but it did. What happened next was frightening for many people present, said Mr Bailey.

One little girl was in tears, said one witness, as the group shouted insults towards people inside including "Fuck Forest", "come on, let's have you".

Colombian football match suspended after fan attacks a player, who then chases him in retaliation

A football match in the Colombian first division was suspended on Sunday after a fan ran onto the pitch and attacked a player, who then chased the offending supporter and knocked him to the ground.

Just after the referee had blown his whistle to begin the game between Deportes Tolima and Millonarios, a fan broke onto the pitch and struck Millonarios player Daniel Cataño, who used to play for Tolima, from behind.

Cataño then ran after the fan in retaliation and knocked him to the ground, resulting in the referee showing Cataño a red card.

Video footage showed the fan being escorted away by police, but Millonarios decided it would not continue the match — which was being played at Tolima’s stadium — as it believed the players’ safety could not be guaranteed.
