BOLOGNA FAN FALLS IN LAGUNA DURING CLASHES WITH VENEZIA ULTRAS

There are some downsides to having a football stadium on an island, as a Bologna fan ended up falling into the Laguna during clashes with Venezia supporters.

The incident occurred just before kick-off at the Stadio Penzo, an arena which can only be reached by boat.

It is a beautiful and atmospheric stadium, but also brings with it some natural safety concerns, especially when supporters from opposing teams come into contact.

According to Sky Sport Italia and La Repubblica, there was an incident when circa 20 ultras from Bologna and Venezia came to blows at the La Tana entrance.

It risked spilling over into a nearby restaurant packed with tourists, a firework was let off sparking panic and resulted in a Bologna supporter falling into the Laguna.

Fortunately, he was able to drag himself onto a nearby rowing boat.

Nantes, Nice condemn fan chants mocking Emiliano Sala death

Ligue 1 sides Nantes and Nice have strongly condemned chants sung by a section of Nice supporters that mocked late Argentine forward Emiliano Sala on Wednesday.

A section of Nice fans could be heard singing offensive and distasteful songs about former Nantes striker Sala during Nantes' 2-1 home league win.

Sala was a passenger in a plane that crashed in the English channel in January 2019 while en route to Cardiff from Nantes, having just days earlier signed for then-Premier League side Cardiff City.

Before and after the match, the police had to intervene to prevent Reims and Lens supporters from coming to blows near the stadium. The use of tear gas proved necessary to disperse them.

Unhappy that they could not brawl as they wanted, some of them threw projectiles at the police. A can of beer hit a police officer. A colleague also took a kick.

During the match, several smoke bombs were cracked in the Lensois stand. One of them entered the playing area at the end of the match, he was arrested and placed in police custody. Finally, another spectator was arrested because of public and manifest drunkenness.

About fifty hooded ultras launched smoke bombs and flares over the main entrance of the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium an hour after the defeat behind closed doors (1-2) against Reims, as a sign of anger.

The police forces positioned in front of the stadium repelled the supporters with water canon.

A general fight broke out in the stands. The two sides of supporters were in the same stand and no barrier was put in place.
The police are on the spot in number.
The match will not resume, the referee will make a report.

After 30 minutes the game was stopped for several minutes to take off toilet rolls threw by Bordeaux ultras.



Supporters also tried to reach the main car park so police used pepper sprays and water canon.

A train carrying HSV fans going to Rostock was pelted with stones by around twenty hooded people at Bützow station. The federal police intervened.

During the march of 4,000 Rostock fans to the stadium, projectiles were thrown at the police. In the stadium, home fans set fire to many of their rivals' scarves.
