Catalan Football Fans Stripped of Yellow Shirts by Spanish Police
Police in Spain targeted pro-Catalonia soccer fans by commandeering their signs and 'esteladas' (yellow jerseys) worn in support of Catalan political prisoners ahead of the Copa del Rey on Saturday.
Outside the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, police forced dozens of fans to surrender their yellow shirts. On social media, viral videos show banners saying 'Freedom for political prisoners' and yellow scarves being ripped from the hands of pro-Catalonia supporters.
According to Spain's National Police, the yellow jerseys were deemed threatening to the Spanish government, King Felipe VI and his ministers, who attended the final match between Sevilla and FC Barcelona.

Dad-of-three Sean Cox, 53, suffered serious head injuries when he was assaulted outside Anfield Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Liverpool fan had travelled from his home in Dunboyne, Co Meath, Ireland, with his brother to watch his team's Champions League semi-final against Roma. He remains in a critical condition in hospital with a serious head wound.
Filippo Lombardi, 20, and Daniele Sciusco, 29, appear before South Sefton Magistrates Court today over the incident.
Lombardi has been charged with violent disorder and wounding and inflicting grievous bodily harm.
Sciusco was also charged with violent disorder.
They were remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on on May 24.
Family members of Mr Cox have flown over from Ireland to maintain a bedside vigil at the hospital in Liverpool.
A source told the Irish Sun last night: "Sean has undergone a major operation.
"He is now in a coma. The situation remains critical, and the next 48 hours are crucial.
"Everyone is praying he pulls through.” Trouble broke out in the city centre before the game as more than 50,000 fans descended on Anfield, including around 5,000 supporters from Italy.
Fighting erupted near The Albert pub close to the ground shortly before kick-off, where it is believed Mr Cox was hit with a belt and fell to the ground. Police made nine arrests before and after the game.
The family of Sean Cox has paid tribute to "the most amazing and wonderful husband, dad, friend, son, uncle, and brother".
"He has brought us all nothing but joy. He is a truly decent man who adores Liverpool FC and just came over from his home in County Meath, Ireland, to watch his beloved team.
"We are completely devastated by what has happened to our lovely, caring, Sean and all we want is for him to come home to his loving wife and three children.
"We hope Sean makes a full recovery from the injuries he sustained and that we will all be back together soon as a family in Ireland spending precious time together."

'Stupid' Middlesbrough pitch invasion slammed: 'It's just not right, it's sad'
Neil Maddison is backing Middlesbrough to reach Wembley but insists the pitch invasion that followed the win over Millwall has taken some of the gloss off the win.
Boro were deserved 2-0 winners against the Lions and are guaranteed a top six finish but, despite pre-match appeals from the club, hundreds of fans poured onto the pitch to celebrate after the final whistle blew.
At first the scenes were relatively peaceful but then a significant number of fans advanced towards the Millwall supporters in the away section of the stadium.
Two sets of fans were kept apart by stewards and police officers but there were reports of missiles being thrown.
The incident added a sour taste to what had been an excellent day's work from Tony Pulis and his players.

Bottles were thrown by both sets of fans outside Glasgow's Emirates Arena as police escorted Rangers fans to the match.

Rival supporters taunted each other before ugly scenes erupted with glass bottles tossed into both crowds of fans.

Shocking footage shows the man jump from a double decker coach near Hampden on Sunday after the Old Firm Scottish Cup tie.
He was then chased by a crowd rival Hoops fans down Aitkenhead Road during a large-scale disturbance between both sets of supporters.
The video shows a beer bottle just missing a crowd of Parkhead faithfuls before they charge towards the coach.
Other footage of the same incident shows Celtic fans launch a can at the bus before gesturing and taunting their rivals on board.
Cops say the rushed to the scene as the drama unfolded.and dispersed the crowd. No-one was arrested.
It comes after Celtic and Rangers fans clashed in the street after last month’s powderkeg Old Firm match.
