Tranmere Rogers - Chester FC - 12/09/2015
Source : http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/
Merseyside Police are investigating the behaviour or several individuals after trouble flared
Football fans who caused trouble at Tranmere Rover’s clash with Chester were branded ‘idiots’ by police.
Police said there were “several small outbreaks of disorder” after Tranmere’s 2-0 win in the west Cheshire derby.
A small number of people were also ejected from the ground, according to Merseyside Police.
Superintendent Richie Davies from Wirral command team said: “We will be examining the behaviour of several individuals and looking at all the legislation available to us to take firm action against anyone we suspect committed a criminal offence.
”The police will not tolerate the selfish and idiotic actions of a few attempting to spoil a game of football that the vast majority of people went along to enjoy.
“We will continue to work with Tranmere and visiting clubs to crackdown on any disorder, however small, at any future fixtures.”
Supt Davies said the majority of fans enjoyed the game and the healthy rivalry.
”Sadly a relatively small minority from both sets of spectators seemed intent on confronting each other and officers worked hard with the stewards to identify trouble-makers and remove them from the ground.”
The police said that among those ejected from the ground during the match on Saturday was a man “who encroached onto the playing area during the game”.
Fans were segregated to make sure they left the stadium separately and during there were several small outbreaks of disorder which were dealt with by police officers.
According to the force no-one was injured and no allegations of assault have been received by Merseyside Police since the match.

Ajax hooligans will be arrested on sight in Amsterdam to keep Celtic supporters safe on Thursday - 14/09/2015
Source : http://www.mirror.co.uk/
Concerned Dutch police have hatched a plan to keep Celtic fans safe in Amseterdam.
Local authorities are desperate to avoid a repeat of the violence last time the Scottish champions visited the city.
Police chiefs have drawn up a list of known Ajax hooligans and have vowed to arrest them on sight in a bid to keep travelling fans safe, report the Daily Record.
Police chief Olivier Dutilh said: “We are targeting the Ajax hooligans and they know that as soon as they come into town, we will arrest them.”
Trouble erupted when the Parkhead side last travelled to Amsterdam two years ago.
Hoops fans were attacked by armed thugs in a bar the night before the game and there were violent clashes in the city’s Dam Square on the night of the Champions League match.
But the authorities are on alert ahead of Celtic’s return, with extra security measures being put in place.
Around 100 more officers will be on duty than in 2013, while a special fanzone is also being created for travelling supporters.
And the Mayor of Amsterdam Eberhard van der Laan has granted police special powers to arrest any known Dutch casuals who are spotted in or around Dam Square.
Dutilh admitted they were caught out by the huge numbers of Celtic fans two years ago.
But he doesn’t expect the same again and has been liaising with his Scots counterparts in a bid to ensure there is no repeat of the trouble.
Dutilh said of the hooligan hitlist: “We know who these people are. We have a specially trained unit who know them by their names and know them by sight.
“Our mayor has implemented some specific legislation which allows us to arrest them.
“Even when they haven’t done anything but are just present and gathering together, we can arrest them. We have that in our law and can use it for specific events so the mayor has agreed that this match is one of them.
“I can assure the Celtic fans that the day before the match and matchday, it’s completely not possible for the Ajax hooligans to come close to them. We want the Scots fans to be together. They will be safe, they will have fun and can enjoy everything Amsterdam has.
“The main problem two years ago was that the Ajax hooligans were constantly looking for fights – and they sometimes did.
“We had up to 8000 Celtic fans in Dam Square and that was more than had tickets. The problem was the Ajax hooligans mixed with a lot of Scottish fans who had a lot to drink.
“One of the Ajax fans stole a flag and there was an eruption of violence. There are many bicycles in Amsterdam and they were being thrown about along with stones and bottles.
“The difference this time is that there will only be around 2000 Celtic fans, so it’s a lower number. The second point is we will have a specific fanzone at Dam Square where they can be together.
“At that specific area, they will be allowed to drink alcohol – outside of the area, they won’t.
“In the centre of Amsterdam you can’t drink alcohol outside but we’ll have a fanzone where they are allowed.
“We will surround that area so no Ajax hooligans will be able to get near the Celtic fans.
“There won’t be a fence penning people in as such but we are discussing the possibility of a small perimeter. There will be drinks and music. It’s about making it fun, rather than shutting people away.
“We will escort supporters from the fanzone to the match. That means nobody can wait for them and attack them.”
Celtic fans told after the 2013 match how they believed they were being attacked by hooligans but it turned out to be undercover cops who they accused of heavy-handed tactics.
Police accused rival groups of fans of fighting with bottles and sticks. Eight officers were injured and 44 people were arrested – 28 of them Celtic fans.
Most of the arrested Scots were freed, either without charge or after paying fines.
Five were convicted of attacking police and given jail sentences of between two weeks and two months.
All were immediately freed, pending appeals.
A sixth accused, John Quigley, from Kilmarnock, was cleared of all wrongdoing and later awarded £3000 by the Dutch courts to compensate him for the time he spent in custody.
Some Ajax fans condemned the police’s behaviour, accusing them of excessive violence.
Some officers waded in with dogs and horses.
Dutilh said: “I wasn’t in charge of the match two years ago but I have spoken to my colleagues who were and we have discussed things.
“We have evaluated what happened very deeply and saw a lot of things.
“We have taken the complaints on board, about the arrest teams working in plain clothes. In Holland, we are used to this but we now know people in Scotland are not.
“So there were occasions that people were thinking they were attacked by Ajax hooligans but it was the police. Now there will be many who are recognisable – there will be no mistakes.
“There will still be plain-clothed police working but once they arrest someone, they will put a jacket on straight away.
“We are working closely with the Scottish police as well, we have been in constant contact with them.”
Celts fans have been warned not to carry the flags of Ajax’s rivals and told they won’t get into the Amsterdam Arena for the match if they are too drunk.
Timeline of trouble as rivals lock horns again OCTOBER 22, 2013: Celtic’s Green Brigade snatch a banner from Ajax rivals before the Parkhead Champions League clash and wave it upside down during the game. Ajax Ultras react by uprooting seats and hurling them into Celtic end.
NOVEMBER 5, 2013: On the eve of the away leg, around 50 Celtic fans are attacked by masked men armed with pick axe handles in the Old Sailor Cafe in Amsterdam.
NOVEMBER 6, 2013: Trouble flares in Dam Square before the match, resulting in 44 arrests.
Of the 28 Celtic supporters held, 22 are freed – 10 without charge and 12 after paying fines. Dutch Police say eight officers were hurt after being attacked with bottles and sticks but many Hoops supporters blame them for heavy-handed tactics.
Meanwhile, Uefa opened a disciplinary case against Ajax after fans unfurl an offensive banner during the game at the Amsterdam Arena.
NOVEMBER 13, 2013: Ajax are fined 25,000 euros by Uefa over the incident with the banner.
NOVEMBER 22, 2013: Five Celtic fans are found guilty of using violence against Dutch police ahead of the match.
They are handed jail sentences between two weeks and two months and freed, pending appeals.
A sixth accused, John Quigley, from Kilmarnock, is cleared of all wrongdoing.
In June last year, he was awarded £3000 by the Dutch courts to compensate him for the time he spent in custody and the cost of his ticket.
DECEMBER 2, 2013: Amsterdam’s mayor blames Ajax hooligans for starting the violence in Dam Square.
A report by city police says the rioting was triggered when three Ajax supporters stole a flag from Hoops fans.
Mayor Eberhard van der Laan says the incident and the “hit-and-run” raid on the Old Sailor were the main triggers for the violence.

Manchester United - Liverpool FC - 12/09/2015
Source : http://www.dailymail.co.uk
Police made just seven arrests at Manchester United's clash with Liverpool on Saturday.
Fears had been raised that the fixture's later 5.30pm kick-off time, coupled with the intense rivalry between both sides, could spark trouble.
But the match, which United won 3-1, passed off without any major outbreaks of trouble.
Of the seven held, three were Liverpool supporters.
One was arrested on suspicion of committing a racially aggravated offence, another was alleged to have thrown a coin towards the pitch and a third was arrested for an alleged breach of the pace.
Two United fans were arrested, one on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and a second for an alleged public order offence.
A further two people were held on suspicion of ticket touting.
Last season Merseyside Police issued a legal challenge (which they later withdrew) in an effort to bring forward the start of the Everton vs Liverpool derby which was also in the 5.30pm televised slot.
However, one big difference between the Merseyside derby and this game was that fans of the opposition were not in and around the city.
Around 90-100 Liverpool fans travelled to Manchester on the train with the majority of the rest of their 3,000 support on coaches and in cars.
Police had considered holding back Liverpool supporters at the end of the game but that was not necessary.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) Deputy Chief Constable, Ian Hopkins, hailed his force's opération.
'GMP's approach to policing football matches is a risk-based assessment in conjunction with both clubs, the police force from the away team's area and both sets of supporters,' he told Sportsmail.
'We put plans in place with the clubs and the stewards to allow a safe and enjoyable experience at the match.
'Meetings with both sets of supporters ensured that everyone had a clear understanding of what was expected of each ôter.

Bastia fans banned from Marseille trip
Bastia supporters are banned from travelling to Marseille for Sunday's tension-charged Ligue 1 clash, France's Interior Minister announced on Friday.
"Individual or collective travel between the communes of Corsica and Marseille, by any means, for anyone claiming to be a fan of SC Bastia or behaving like one is forbidden," read the statement from Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve.
The order recalls "the deep and violent rivalry between the groups of supporters" for Marseille and Bastia that "has resulted, in a recurring manner, in numerous incidents" during past matches between the two sides.
Measures to prevent Bastia fans from simply entering the Stade Velodrome or hanging around the area close to the stadium were deemed insufficient, despite the number of security forces set to be present.

Police hunt football yobs who abused woman on train from Rotherham to Sheffield - 08/09/2015
Source : http://www.thestar.co.uk/ (thanks to the sender)
Police are trying to trace football yobs who hurled abuse at a Rotherham woman and her two sons.
The incident occurred on board the 9.27am train from Rotherham to Sheffield on Saturday, August 15.
British Transport Police said the woman was faced with a ‘barrage of foul language and abuse’ after she asked a group of football fans, who were being rowdy, to quieten down.
Then woman and her sons also had beer cars hurled at them.
PC Emma Williamson said: “The victim asked the group of football supporters, who were behaving in a rowdy manner, to quieten down. Her request was met with a barrage of foul language and abuse.
“She left the train at Sheffield to board the front carriage to Nottingham.
“The same group followed the victim and her sons, aged 15 and 19, on board and threw empty beer cans at them.
“As the group left the carriage one of the men pulled earphones from the 19 year old’s ears.
“This is a typical example of the intimidating and loutish behaviour by a minority of football fans that we are working hard to stamp out.
“Fear and intimidation through rowdy and unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated.
“No one should have to listen to foul and abusive language or face abuse when they politely request it to stop. It is vital we find those responsible.”
The man who grabbed the boy’s earphones was white, around 5ft 8ins tall, with short, greying hair.
He was in his mid 40s, of a stocky build and was wearing a light coloured top at the time.

England fans clash with Italians over blow-up doll
The theft of a blow-up doll was the catalyst for violence following an argument between English football fans and a group of Italians in Rimini.
The violence broke out at a pub late last week as thousands of England football fans descended on the seaside town ahead of their national side's Euro 2016 qualifying match against nearby San Marino, Il Resto del Carlino reported.
A group of young Italians had booked a table at the pub as part of celebrations for a stag party, but when they arrived to raise a few glasses to the groom, the English fans were already out in force.
“There were about a dozen of us and we arrived at about 9.30pm,” one of the Italians told Il Resto del Carlino.
“The English were already a bit drunk, shouting and singing football songs.”
A few drinks and chants never hurt anybody - but according to the Italians, the England fans were spoiling for a fight.
As the Italians were finishing their meal, the England fans allegedly started pushing and offending them.
But the worst was still to come.
"They took a blow up doll from the table with great arrogance," the Italian said.
"It had been a joke present for our friend who was getting married."
Following the theft of the doll all hell broke loose. Amid the brawl the English fans allegedly started emptying their glasses of beer over the Italians.
"The situation got out of hand."
Upon seeing the ruckus, the barman ordered both groups to leave the pub – but that only made things worse and out in the streets the argument descended into physical violence.
“Three of us were kicked and punched,” claimed the Italian. “When the police arrived the hooligans heard the siren and fled.”
The Italian youths have not to reported the incident but were miffed at having their party ruined by the England fans.
"We had paid nearly €1,000 for our stag do."
Michael Brunskill of the Football Supporters' Federation (FSF), an organization that represents the rights of football fans in England and Wales, told The Local that the FSF “is opposed to any form of violence – be it verbal or physical – and would never condone hooliganism.”
Brunskill did suggest, however, that the typical view of British football fans as lager-swilling hooligans was perhaps a little outdated.
“England and Wales' fan behaviour is generally very good nowadays, with no arrests at away games during the 2013/14 season,” he added.

Bayern Munich supporters attacked by Greek police, flee stadium
ayern Munich supporters were violently attacked by police at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus, Greece ahead of the club's Champions League match with Olympiacos. Many supporters have already left the stadium, and it is believed that most, if not all, will follow before the match finally kicks off.
Clubs running into trouble with police in southern Europe is a regular occurrence, but by all accounts from supporters and media inside the stadium, this attack by the police was wholly unprovoked.
UEFA has no issue punishing clubs for the behavior of their supporters but what about the police ? Can you punish a club due to the actions of the police inside their stadium ?

Scotland : Aberdeen fan handed ban following brawl at match - 17/09/2015
Source : https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/
An oil worker was today handed a football ban – after he admitted trying to brawl with rival fans on his way to a Scottish Premiership match.
Brian Wright admitted “forming part of a disorderly crowd” as tensions flared ahead of a Dundee United v Aberdeen match at Tannadice Stadium, Dundee, last December.
Wright, an Aberdeen fan, got involved in a rammy in Dundee’s Main Street ahead of the top-flight clash on December 13.
He admitted “engaging in behaviour likely to incite public disorder” by repeatedly trying to engage in violence with rival fans.
A string of other fans of both clubs have already admitted similar charges – with some receiving year-long stadium bans.
Wright, 44, of Union Street, Aberdeen, pleaded guilty to a charge under the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications Act.
Kevin Hampton, defending, asked that sentence be deferred on the offshore worker for background reports to be prepared.
Sheriff George Way imposed a football banning order for one year and a community payback order with 75 hours unpaid work to be completed in three months.
Last month Dons fans Euan Stevenson and Scott Steppie were handed one-year bans and fines after they admitted being part of the disturbance before the game.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard 20 police officers – including mounted police and dog handlers – had to be drafted in to quell the near riot.
The pair were part of a group of up to 65 Aberdeen fans who were monitored on police CCTV as they travelled from Dundee rail station to the stadium.
Three Dundee men also admitted identical charges relating to the same incidents.
Lemmy Milne, Alexander Middleton and Grant Fender appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court where they pleaded guilty to charges of being part of a disorderly crowd on the day of the Dundee United v Aberdeen match on December 13 last year.
They were also handed football banning orders as well as community payback orders over the rammy.
Cops launched dawn raids on those suspected to be involved in incidents around the match.
Although there were no incidents within Tannadice during the match itself there were widespread reports of fighting and disorder around the ground.
