Czech Republic : Hooligans Attack Czech Café over Refugee Support Message - 17/07/2015
Source : http://www.liberties.eu/
A Brno café's online expression of solidarity with refugees brought violent threats from neo-Nazi hooligans, culminating in an attack on a customer.
An expression of solidarity with refugees on the social networking site Facebook brought a café in the city Brno a wave of offensive reactions and threats. Insults and intimidation on the cafe's Facebook page appeared under a photograph posted with the message "Solidarity with Refugees #Accept," which the restaurant's owners and visitors liked to show their support for refugees in the Czech Republic.
According to the café's manager, Teresa Náhlíková, the owner of the café approached the police with screenshots of the worst messages and threats, which included a message that someone "will pay a visit" to the café.
"We wanted, among other things, advice on what to do in such a situation, and also asked the police for more frequent patrols," Náhlíková said. But the response from the police was clear: as long as nothing happens, they can't help.
Assaulted customer
The group of football hooligans known as the Johny Kentus Gang, wearing clothes with traditional neo-Nazi symbols, visited the café after participating in a public demonstration against refugees, which was organized by neo-Nazi groups. The hooligans made threats inside the restaurant, including a promise to return, then left without paying.
They returned the next day and took a picture of the front of the café and posted it online with the message "Refugees #WeDoNotAccept." They then demanded that their banners be displayed inside the establishment. After one of the guests stood up in defense of the café and its employees, the patron was assaulted by one of hooligans.
No help from police
"We called the police on Friday and Saturday immediately after [the hooligans] came to the café," Náhlíková said. "In both cases, they arrived after about half an hour, stayed for about twenty minutes, and left, telling us to call them when something happens again, and that there is no reason to feel threatened. We did feel, however, that the police would not protect us in times of need."

Israel Police hold Beitar Jerusalem fans suspected of rioting in Belgium - 17/07/2015
Source : http://www.haaretz.com/
Sporting Charleroi beat Beitar Jerusalem 5-1 in a match that was repeatedly disrupted by Beitar fans who threw smoke bombs and injured a Charleroi player.
Four Beitar Jerusalem fans were detained at Ben-Gurion Airport on Friday after arriving on a flight from Belgium.
The four were held for questioning over a riot during a football match in Belgium on Thursday that resulted in injury to the goalkeeper of Sporting Charleroi, the opponents of Beitar Jerusalem, and lengthy disruptions of the game.
The office of the state prosecutor spent much of Friday looking into the legality of arresting Beitar fans suspected of being involved in the riot. According to Israeli law, suspects in crimes committed abroad can only be arrested with the approval of the attorney general.
After a lengthy discussion, the prosecution gave the police the go-ahead to detain the suspects temporarily but not to arrest them.
The police have been in touch with their counterparts in Belgium and have requested photographs of the riot to assist them in identifying the suspects. The six arrested on Friday were held on the basis of intelligence information and photographic evidence.
Police are also investigating how the fans got hold of the smoke bombs that they threw during the riot.
The police presence at the airport has been supplemented to deal with the returning fans. The plane that arrived on Friday was met by a police force on the ground and the passengers were escorted into the terminal.
The prosecution has instructed the police to conduct an in-depth investigation into the incident and collect evidence, while the prosecution itself will get instructions from the attorney-general over whether the suspects can be arrested.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday called on the police to fight violence and racism, saying that those who rioted in Belgium would not be allowed to besmirch the country's image.
The European football governing association, UEFA, is said to be preparing to take disciplinary measures against Beitar due to the behavior of its fans
The Israel Football Association, meanwhile is concerned that the behavior of the Beitar fans in Belgium will impact the ongoing FIFA investigation into whether Israel discriminates against Palestinian footballers.

Drunk football fan bit TWO police officers in pub row after Cardiff City v Wolves match - 17/07/2015
Source : http://www.walesonline.co.uk/
A football fan who bit and kicked police officers as they tried to arrest him has avoided jail.
Christopher Boffey, 19, was sentenced at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Friday after pleading guilty to assaulting three police officers at an earlier hearing.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers fan was in the Prince of Wales pub in the city following the West Midlands team’s game against Cardiff City on February 28 this year.
Prosecutor Jamie Dewar told the court how fans were “drunk and causing a disturbance”.
When police entered the pub to remove rowdy fans an “intoxicated” Boffey began shouting obscenities at them and made threatening comments when an officer removed a glass from his hand.
Boffey then pushed the officer which led to him being detained by the police.
The kitchen fitter kicked out at them and spat on the floor while continuing to shout and swear.
"Drunk and causing a disturbance"
He was escorted outside and was put in leg restraints to stop him kicking out. Boffey then bit a police officer hard on the left thigh and bit another officer on the hand as he was being carried to a police van.
He was taken to Cardiff Bay police station and was interviewed but he said he did not remember swearing at police.
Sentencing, bench chair Stephen Latham told Boffey he was “very lucky” to avoid a prison sentence due to his previously clean criminal record.
He said: “You were so close to going to prison today you can’t believe it.
“On a case like this – in a public place, after a match, alcohol, police officers being abused – usually there’s no stepping back from that.
“We have taken into account you have had no criminal record and this is why the court has been a trifle lenient. Count yourself very lucky.”
"Count yourself very lucky"
Boffey, of Willenhall Road, Wolverhampton, West Midlands, was given a 12-month community order and was ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay a total of £350 in compensation to the three officers as well as £500 in costs.

Trouble at Leeds United’s match in Austria
LEEDS UNITED’S friendly with Eintracht Frankfurt was marred by clashes between rival supporters tonight.
Riot police moved into separate fighting fans at full-time after United’s game in Austria descended into violence.
Around 100 Frankfurt supporters - some of them wearing balaclavas - confronted a contingent of Leeds fans as supporters spilled onto the pitch at the end of United’s 2-1 defeat.
An officer with the local police force said around 20 arrests had been made, including supporters of both clubs.
One Leeds fan and one officer needed medical treatment, the officer said.
The pre-season friendly in Eugendorf - a town to the north of the Austrian city of Salzburg - drew a crowd of several hundred, the majority of them Leeds fans.
A group of Frankfurt supporters were held outside the ground shortly before kick-off but allowed into the 2000-capacity arena as the game kicked off.
The match passed off without incident until the final whistle when police with batons and dogs fought to form a cordon on the pitch.

Four Chelsea fans banned over Paris racism - 23/07/2015
Source : http://www.bbc.com/
Four Chelsea fans accused of refusing to allow a black man on to the Paris Metro have been banned from attending football matches for up to five years.
Richard Barklie, from Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, and Joshua Parsons and William Simpson, both from Surrey, were banned for five years at Stratford Magistrates' Court.
Jordan Munday from Sidcup in Kent was banned for three years.
They were told they could not attend games at home or abroad.
District Judge Gareth Branston said: "Racist hatred was displayed by Chelsea fans on the Paris Metro that evening."
He told the court the incident had "tarnished the reputation of English football in Europe".
Violence flared when Chelsea fans were in the French capital to watch the west London club's Champions League match against Paris St Germain on 17 February.
Afterwards video surfaced showing Frenchman Souleymane Sylla pushed off the train amid chants of "we're racist and that's the way we like it".
The French commuter previously said the whole episode was "humiliating".
Barklie, 50, of Victoria Street in Carrickfergus, a director with the World Human Rights Forum, had admitted twice pushing Mr Sylla, but blamed the Parisian for using "aggression" and shouting.
The judge, however, said Barklie, a former policeman, "proved to be a menace" and had "demonstrated aggressive, disorderly conduct".
He said Parsons played a leading role too and displayed "aggressive and disorderly conduct as part of a pack of Chelsea fans".
It was heard Parsons later lost his job at a Mayfair financial company as a result of his involvement.
Another Chelsea supporter, Dean Callis, 32, of Liverpool Road, Islington, received a five-year banning order ahead of the court hearing for a number of incidents, including the one in Paris, Scotland Yard confirmed.

CS Fola Esch - Dinamo Zagreb - 22/07/2015

New troubles between Dinamo fans themselves. Many fans were arrested by the police.
-----------------------------------------
Source : www.lequotidien.lu
28 men were arrested and detained by Luxembourg police on Wednesday following violent brawls outside the Josy Barthel stadium ahead of the Champions League qualifying football match between Fola Esch and Dinamo Zagreb.
Before the match, police had already issued warnings of hooligans associated with the infamous Zagreb football team. It was feared that up to 200 violent Dinamo ‘supporters’ could descend on the Grand Duchy, but no evidence of large groups of rioters was witnessed.
However, just before 7pm a first violent incident occurred when a group of Croatians attempted to enter the stadium without tickets. Eye witnesses stated that these ‘fans’, who had travelled by coach, appeared far more interested in other members of the crowd than in their own team.
Suddenly their attention was drawn to two minibuses nearby displaying Croatian flags. Within seconds the mob stormed the two vehicles, attacking and smashing the windows.
A brawl then erupted between the attackers and vehicle occupants and was not limited to violent punches, as wooden planks, bottles, road signs and magnesium flares were used in a battle between the two sides.
Police officers immediately stepped in and attempted to separate the hooligans, and only minutes later special forces wearing protective uniforms arrived at the scene and encircles the two groups.
After some time, individuals were isolated from both groups and arrested by police. 28 men were bundled into police vans and transported to the capital’s police station on Rue Curie where they were put into holding cells.
No other incidents in front or around the Josy Barthel stadium on route d’Arlon were reported to the media.

Police in Larnaca are looking into a mass brawl involving around 60 people late on Wednesday night which left two Polish football supporters in hospital.
According to witnesses, drunk supporters of Polish football Jagiellonia – who are in Cyprus to play Omonia in a Europa League qualifier on Thursday night in Nicosia – first clashed with each other before being jumped by a group of other men believed to be Cypriots at the Phinikoudes strip.
Wednesday night’s incident would have heightened security at the GSP Stadium on Thursday night in which around 18,000 Omonia supporters and around 150 Jagiellonia supporters are expected to attend the game, which had finished 0-0 in the first leg in Warsaw.
The first reports came in at 11.50pm after Larnaca CID were informed that around 50 Jagiellonia fans had clashed with each other before around half of them left the scene when police arrived.
At around 1.30am, however, a group of around 30 to 40 people arrived and attacked around 25 Jagiellonia fans resulting in two men being rushed to Larnaca General Hospital. The crowds quickly disbursed when police arrived on the scene.
Police later detained nine Polish men who all said that they couldn’t remember the attackers because of the drunken state they were in.
A 32-year-old was treated for swelling and bleeding to his left eye before being shortly released while a man of 39 was treated for a broken nose as well as minor fractures to other parts of his body. He has been ordered to remain in hospital although doctors have stated that his injuries are not life-threatening.

The friendly fixture in Austria was called off after just 35 minutes due to Turkish fans throwing flares and fireworks onto the pitch
The pre-season clash between Udinese and Galatasaray on Saturday had to abandoned because of crowd trouble.
The friendly fixture in Austria was first halted shortly after kick-off due to the Turkish club's fans throwing flares onto the pitch.
The game was restarted after a short delay but was suspended again 35 minutes in after Gala's supporters launched more fireworks onto the field of play.
The referee then ordered the players off the pitch and into the dressing rooms before ultimately deciding to abandon the game after speaking with representatives from both clubs.
"It's a shame about the suspension," Udinese coach Stefano Colantuono stated. "But we accepted Galatasary's desire to call it off."
Udinese sporting director Cristiano Giaretta also felt that it was the right decision to abandon the match.
"It's a missed opportunity for everyone," he added. "But we did not have the necessary security guarantees to continue."

Arrests made at Hibernian v Rangers Challenge Cup match
Rangers could be in trouble with the Scottish Professional Football League due to the behaviour of some of the club's fans during their win over Hibs.
Three arrests were made after sectarian singing during Saturday's Scottish Challenge Cup tie at Easter Road Stadium.
The match delegate's report will highlight the issue as well as the use of a flare.
Rangers progressed to the second round with a 6-2 win.
Police Scotland said in a statement: "Police in Edinburgh ensured that a significant policing presence was put in place to keep the public safe during the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup between Hibernian and Rangers at Easter Road Stadium.
"Six people were arrested for various offences, of which three men aged 20, 30 and 39 were charged under the Offensive Behaviour at Football & Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012 following sectarian singing.
"Of these six arrested, a 43-year-old man was also charged for anti-social behaviour, a 17-year-old man was charged following a smoke bomb being set off in the stadium, and a 22-year-old man was charged following damage to a seat within the stadium.
"A seventh person was charged for allowing alcohol consumption on a public supporters' coach attending the match."
And Chief Inspector Bob Paris said: "The behaviour of the majority of Hibs and Rangers fans in attendance today was commendable and I'd like to thank them for that.
"It's disappointing when the reckless conduct of a few people threatens the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of other supporters. Police Scotland will be applying to the Courts for Football Banning Orders to be placed on the individuals involved."
