The radicals implicated in the death of a Deportivo La Coruna supporter in Madrid on Sunday will no longer be affiliated with the club, Atleti announced on Tuesday

Atletico Madrid have announced that members of the Frente Atletico group of ultras will never be able to watch a match again at the Vicente Calderon following the violence which saw a Deportivo La Coruna fan lose his life on Sunday.

Radical supporters of Atletico and Deportivo were involved in a brutal fight early on Sunday morning by Madrid's Manzanares river and 43-year-old Galician Francisco Javier Romero Taboada, known as 'Jimmy', was killed after being beaten and thrown into the water.

Members of Frente Atletico then allegedly prevented police from rescuing the fan before firefighters pulled out the injured supporter, who later died in hospital after suffering a ruptured spleen, hypothermia and severe brain injuries.

"Atletico Madrid have expelled Frente Atletico," the Spanish champions announced on their website on Tuesday.

"Following the serious incidents, the club created a special commission to gather information and take action," a club statement said. "Upon receiving the police report, which identified detainees and participants of the massive fight as members of Frente Atletico, this decision has been taken."

And Atleti added: "From today, Frente Atletico is no longer an official supporters' group recognised by the club."

The club admitted it does not have the power to dissolve Frente Atletico, but claimed action would be taken against any other fans or groups showing racist, xenophobic or political agendas.

"The club will pursue any other collective, supporters' group or organisation that may arise in the future under any other name that does not radically condemn violence or which uses Atletico Madrid or its facilities to defend political, racist or xenophobic ideas," the statement said.

Meanwhile, Deportivo La Coruna announced on Tuesday that the stand where radical group Riazor Blues (whose members fought Frente Atletico on Sunday) watch games, will be closed for the club's next two home fixtures, both against Malaga.

The first leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup semi-final match between Vietnam and host Malaysia on Sunday was marred by the violent wrath of local fans that prompted that country's sports minister to apologize.
On Monday, Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin offered his apology to Vietnamese supporters.
"These violent fans do not represent Malaysia. My sincere apologies on behalf of Malaysia for the actions of these small number of irresponsible thugs," Malaysian Insiders quoted his Facebook entry as saying.
"No excuse for such violence. Especially against guests in our country. Is this how we treat guests? It doesn't matter whether they are visitors or workers here, this is not Malaysian culture," he said.
"I condemn in the strongest terms, the violence which took place at the AFF-Suzuki Cup semi-final fixture between Malaysia and Vietnam at the Shah Alam Stadiumlast night," the minister said in a statement issued later on Monday.

"Although only a small segment of Malaysian fans turned unruly, their violent conduct directed at visiting Vietnamese fans was completely unacceptable and has tarnished Malaysia's reputation.

Khairy voiced his concerns about the prospect of retaliation from Vietnam fans in the second leg in Hanoi on Thursday and warned travelling fans to be vigilant, Reuters said.

Vietnam secured an impressive 2-1 first leg win away to Malaysia on Sunday and take a firm grip of their AFF Suzuki Cup semi-final.

The incident happened around five minutes before the end of the match when nearly 5,000 Vietnamese fans were cheering the forthcoming victory of their national football team.

The Vietnam fans were attacked by hooligans who threw bottles and other objects, creating a messy chaos at the Shah Alam Stadium, west of Kuala Lumpur.
Some Malaysian hooligans even rushed to assault the Vietnamese fans, who tried to flee and had no intention of fighting back.
At least one Vietnam fan was injured in clashes at the end of Sunday’s rain-soaked match, AFP quoted a police official as saying, adding that five people were arrested.



Bottles and objects continued to be thrown even after Malaysian police arrived at the scene to quell the scuffles.
A Vietnamese man suffered injury in his head with blood flowing onto his face.
Tran Song Hai, a spokesman for Vietnam’s fan club, said Malaysian fans “reacted in uncivilized manner” after the Vietnam team fought back and took the lead.“They went straight to attack Vietnamese fans under the watch of security force. They event burned fireworks to cause a mess after the match,” he said.

Tran Quoc Tuan, deputy chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), said he would report the case to the match organizers.
“VFF will also request the Football Association of Malaysia take strict measures against the people involved,” he said.
Khairy, the Malaysia sports minister, said he was waiting for a report on the incident from the police and the Football Association of Malaysia, but added that he had witnessed how a section of Malaysian fans turned unruly.
"These irresponsible people don't think what would happen to our fans when we play in Hanoi, Vietnam, for the second leg," he said.
Meanwhile, Harimau Malaya, a Facebook page of Malaysian football fans, also posted an apology to Vietnamese fans on Monday for “the shameful act of a small numbers uncivilized football morons causing injuries to your supporters.”
“They have ruined the good name of our footbaling culture... We hope the police will take action on those involved and sentence them to jail,” it said.
“We also hope your supporter especially those injured to lodge a police report by providing some of the pics here as evidence.”

Malaysia's minister of youth and sports apologised to Vietnam supporters on Monday after they were subjected to "unruly, violent conduct" from opposition fans during a Suzuki Cup fixture.
Some Malaysian fans started throwing bottles at the visiting supporters and fighting broke out towards the end of Vietnam's 2-1 win in the first leg of the semi-final on Sunday, local media reported.
Pictures of the perpetrators were published on social media and Khairy Jamaluddin said he expected swift action against the guilty parties.
"I condemn in the strongest terms, the violence which took place at the AFF-Suzuki Cup semi-final fixture between Malaysia and Vietnam at the Shah Alam Stadium last night," the minister said in a statement.
"Although only a small segment of Malaysian fans turned unruly, their violent conduct directed at visiting Vietnamese fans was completely unacceptable and has tarnished Malaysia's reputation.
"This is clearly not the Malaysian way. Violence is not and was never part our culture... I am saddened that the football match was marred by the actions of a small number of hooligans.
"I would like to apologise to the Vietnamese fans for the behaviour of these unruly fans, whose actions have been condemned by many Malaysians."
Khairy voiced his concerns about the prospect of retaliation from Vietnam fans in the second leg in Hanoi on Thursday and warned travelling fans to be vigilant.
On Friday, the Asian Football Confederation fined the Football Association of Malaysia $10,000 after crowd trouble at a home friendly against Philippines in March.
The penalty came with the warning of stricter punishments if there was a repeat.

Very good group mix HS81/Youth RSCL in one coach.
Once arrived in Charleroi the doors off the bus pussed open, and everything what was loose flew in the direction of the Charleroi lads (supporters or everybody who was in the way)...
Arriving at the stadion a direct attack by Standard group towards police, trying to get closer to the Charleroi side, big fight with barriers and bottles, police had to back off and regroup to get the group inside the ground.
During the beginneing off the match great fireworks and smokebombs in the Standard tribune, wich caused a delay for 5minutes (and nobody saw the tifo of Charleroi...)
Lots off damages inside the stadion by Standard lads.
After the game evrybody regrouped and tried to get to the other side for a confrontation with Chaleroi, but it was another big fight with police.
3coppers wounded, 1 police vehicle damaged and the coach with the Standard lads held detained untill 1 o'clock midnight.

Appeal after fans’ anger at steward scuffle

The head of safety at Blackpool FC has today appealed to fans to stay in their seats after an ugly row broke out between supporters and stewards during Saturday’s game at Bloomfield Road.

Furious fans say one supporter was injured in the altercation which broke out in Block X at the back of South Stand during Pool’s 1-0 win over Birmingham.

Ground safety officer Tony Pinder said stewards, accompanied by police, went into Block X during the second half because of concerns some fans had left their seats in other blocks to go and stand there.

But fans say one of the stewards was aggressive and a scuffle was sparked as attempts were made by staff to remove people from the block.

One supporter, who says those targeted by the stewards have genuine seats in Block X, said: “They knocked a young boy who sits in front of us to the ground and this lad was almost trampled on.

“Not only was this younger lad injured, an older man another row down was also pushed to the ground and actually ended up being pushed down the steps and fell at least two rows forwards.

“By now police, fire and safety stewards and other crowd stewards had arrived and a bigger scuffle had 
broken out.”

The Pool fan said the row was initially sparked after a fan clambered over a row of seats to get to his own seat.

“When attempting to climb over the row of seats – there is no steps at our side of the row to our row – he was confronted by one of the stewards,” the supporter added.

“A few of us heard this and quickly tried to calm the steward down by letting him know he sits with us and he was 
getting to his seat. The same steward replied aggressively again.

“Again we all tried to calm him down.”

The incident on Saturday has also been widely discussed on fan forums and social networking sites.

Another fan posting on a BFC supporters’ forum, said: “They tried to pull out a Pool fan from the back row,he wouldn’t leave peacefully, they ended up sending two innocent fans who were not even looking flying over three rows of empty seats.

“The older one of the two narrowly missing a female fan and ending up at my feet.”

Another said: “The guy was visibly shaken, and it is a miracle that he wasn’t seriously 
injured.”

Mr Pinder today confirmed a steward involved in Saturday’s incident, which was captured on the stadium’s CCTV system, had been “spoken to” about the way he handled the situation.

Normally, regular stewarding staff at Bloomfield Road are shared with Preston North End, but because both clubs were at home on Saturday, Blackpool brought in contract staff, of which the steward 
involved was one.

Mr Pinder said: “It has been dealt with internally. His actions in dealing with this were less than acceptable to me and it has been dealt with.”

He added: “The police were there and spoke to all the people around there and to my knowledge there have been no complaints.

If (the injured fan) wishes to complain he can contact the football club and leave his number and I will contact him and deal with the complaint. I am happy to deal with any complaints.

“For some time now we have had concerns regarding Block X in South Stand. There’s a migration of younger fans to that area where drummer is.

“We are finding that Block X has double the number of people it should have.

“On this occasion, stewards were instructed by my stand manager to monitor this and peacefully resolve it, and send them back to where they should be sat. It is purely a safety issue.

“The police have followed them up because there is always the potential for disorder when people are asked to move from where they should not be.

“I understand they all want to be together but it does not enter their heads about safety.

“I would say to them don’t go up there, stay in the seats you are allocated because going up there gives us concerns about safety.”

Leeds United fans became "extremely aggressive" after their side's 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, sparking a police hunt for suspected hooligans.

Lancashire Police have released CCTV images of men they are seeking after a minority of fans allgedly took out their frustration on police.

Fans tried kicking police dogs and pulling officers' batons after the Championship clash on November 22.

A post-match investigation was launched and officers have identified a number of men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant Eric Halford of Lancashire police said:

"Several thousand Leeds fans attended the match and the vast majority of fans were good spirited and well behaved. The incidents in question were very clearly down to a small section of the travelling Leeds supporters who took it upon themselves to target their anger at the police.

"Some of the individuals were acting in an extremely aggressive manner, trying to kick police dogs and pull officers' batons. Fortunately, incidents like this are very rare but when they do occur we take a zero tolerance approach. We cannot afford to let the actions of a minority spoil games like these for the true fans and to behave like this towards the police is wholly unacceptable.

"People need to know that if they come to Lancashire and cause trouble in this way we will go out of our way to ensure they are brought to justice so that we can maintain the safety of the attending families, supporters and our officers.

"If anyone has any information about the incident or recognises any of the six men pictured in the CCTV images I would urge them to contact us."

PSG fans stabbed in Barcelona, police confirm

Paris Saint-Germain fans were stabbed in two separate incidents in Barcelona on Wednesday, Catalan police have confirmed.

The Ligue 1 champions were beaten 3-1 at Camp Nou as Barca sealed top spot in Group F at the expense of their opponents, who qualified for the last 16 as runners-up.

On Thursday, Catalan police announced that some PSG supporters had been attacked close to the stadium and had been admitted to hospital.

A statement released by the police confirmed that the first incident occurred at around 23:00 local time on Carrer de Felipe de Paz, close to Camp Nou.

According to the release, "a French citizen" was stabbed "by two individuals dressed in dark and with a balaclava".

A short time later, a group of three supporters were attacked, one of whom had to be transported to hospital after being stabbed.

"The police are working to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident and arrest those responsible," the statement concluded.

The incidents come hot on the heels of Spanish authorities looking to clamp down on football-related violence after a Deportivo La Coruna fan was killed ahead of their fixture at Atletico Madrid last month.

However, one of those assaulted in the vicinity of the stadium said the attackers were not wearing colours of Barca or gave any indication that they supported them, suggesting the attack had no motives coming from football.

Celtic fans 'clash with riot police in Zagreb'

Celtic's visit to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League has been marred reports that police clashed with Hoops fans at the Maksimir Stadium.

The travelling supports are said to have let off flares in the away section of the ground and local law enforcement allegedly used CS spray to subdue them.

Photographs of a bright red flare lighting up the Celtic section of the stadium and police dressed in full riot gear arriving on the scene have been published by the Daily Mail and are in circulation on Twitter.

Police activity at Brighton Station as football fans arrive

There are reports of police activity at Brighton Station as fans arrive for tonight's Albion game against Millwall.

Officers from Sussex Police are on the scene and one person has been arrested for a public order offense outside of the Royal Standard pub near the station.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said there were "isolated pockets of disorder" but the situation was now "calm and under control".

Stewards and police step in to keep Albion and Millwall fans seperate

MILLWALL fans breached  a cordon between the two sets of supporters at The American Express Community Stadium.

Away fans in the South Stand at the Amex made their way towards the home support but stewards and police were able to step in before any violence occured in the stand during the second half.

But there has already been reports of violence at Brighton railway station before the match.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has requested the police to get early intelligence to prevent football hooligans from entering the stadium at the AFF Suzuki Cup final second leg match between Malaysia and Thailand in Kuala Lumpur next Saturday.

Its minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said it was to avoid a recurrence of the situation faced by Vietnam fans on Dec 7 at the Shah Alam Stadium when Malaysia lost 1-2 to Vietnam in the semi-final first leg match.

He said the 15 individuals who were involved in the incident should be barred by the police and Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) from entering the stadium.

“Security should be tightened. Thailand fans’ seating area should not be accessible to the country’s fans,” he told a press conference during the ‘Hello YB!’ programme organised by the Barisan Nasional Youth Volunteers Kedah (BNYV) yesterday.

In the Dec 7 incident, a group of Harimau Malaya supporters were said to have provoked the crowd by throwing objects towards the Vietnam supporters.

Police chiefs have announced unexpected plans to reduce security for Newcastle United and Sunderland supporters for December’s Tyne-Wear derby.

The fierce rivals, will be allowed to mix before and the match after Northumbria Police said Sunderland supporters will not be escorted from Central Station to Newcastle’s St. James Park stadium.

The long-running tension between fans of the two teams has ensured a well-planned policing operation is always in place during matches.

But Chief Supt Steve Neill, who is in charge of policing the matches, said he hoped the disorder witnessed in the 2013 derby is now a thing of the past, according to the Chronicle Live.

The notorious 2013 incident saw a police horse attacked by a Newcastle supporter after violence erupted when the team was defeated in the derby by Sunderland.

However, the relationship between the two teams appeared to take a more positive turn when Sunderland supporters raised over £20,000 in memory of Newcastle fans John Alder and Liam Sweeney, who were killed in the MH17 crash.

Spanish police investigating the death of a soccer fan before an Atletico Madrid home match in the Spanish league said they arrested 32 more people.

The people were detained in Madrid, Avila and Toledo, a police official said by phone. He said he couldn’t confirm a report by El Pais newspaper and other media that two people suspected of the murder were among them.

Francisco Romero, a 43-year-old supporter of Deportivo La Coruna, was killed in the Nov. 30 fight after being hit with a metal bar and thrown into a river.

The fight, involving dozens of fans, took place less than a mile from Atletico’s stadium about four hours before the match. Police initially arrested 21 fans, who were released on bail and face public-disorder charges.

Dorset Police said in a statement to WalesOnline: “We were aware of problems between Cardiff fans at the game with Bournemouth.

“It ended with four arrests. One man was charged with assault and is due to appear in court on January 6. One was given a penalty notice for disorder and the rest were released without charge.
