FC Bruges - Beerschot - 22/08/1999
Source: Soccer Fans
Comments from a FC Brugge lad :
"Still 5 years ago we were friends with Beerschot lads, but some recent "Oostend-Beerschot" games led to the braking of this friendship (Oostend and FC Brugge are nearby cities). We were expectating a nice group of Beerschot hools to come in Brugge. It was said they would come with about 120 with cars, and then by footh would arrive at our pub "The Plats". As usual we gathered at our local pub, the size of the FC Brugge group was growing positively. The game started at 15H00, but at 14H40, still no group of Beerschot came as promised, although they called us with GSM phones to confirm their venue. At around 14H50, a last GSM call informed us that they were on their way now around the stadium, so the whole group of FC Brugge left the pub towards the entrance of the stadium to meet them. Approaching the visiting reserved area, the police forces rapidly established a barrage, just in time before the FC Brugge group could pass. There were also many cops in civilian clothes accompying us, so there couldn't be any surprising actions done. We decided to enter into the stadium, and near the ticket entrances finally arrived the Beerschot group (shouting and running), with about 50 lads well escorted with mounted police. Fences were separating the two groups, and there was clearly enough police to prevent any contacts to occur. Some FC Brugge lads tried to pass over the fences, but the police made a charge (with their horses). The civil police arrested some FC Brugge lads "here and there", and this was all what happened for this day. We had previsted more from the Beerschot hools, and this confirm the fact that Beerschot hools are not as well organized as Antwerp, who nearly always manage to insure something to happend."

AIK Stockholm - AEK Athens - 25/08/1999
Source: Soccer Fans
Swedish AIK Sthlm supporters sneaked up a flag up smearing the greek visitors. around half-time, police realised the flag was offensive in it's intention, and decided to remove it. that move sparked bad blood, especially when the very same policemen decided to walk back onto the AIK-supporters North Bank, after removing the flag. AIK-hools attacked the police, to the extent that the police were forced (for the first time in swedish history) to fire live pistolrounds to force back AIK hooligans as the police retreated from the North Bank. the rest of the game was played out in good order. There was significant confrontation between greek and swedish supporters after the game.

Arsenal FC - Manchester United - 27/08/1999
Source: BBC
Rival football fans were involved in a mass brawl at Holloway Road Tube station following Sunday's ill-tempered match between Arsenal and Manchester United at Highbury. British Transport Police have launched an inquiry after violence erupted. Some fans spilled out into the Highbury area and a chase ensued, which ended at the station. A police horse was punched by one hooligan. Eight people were arrested during and after the tense match, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for Arsenal. Inspector David Dickason, who was in charge of the policing of stations, said: "There is an inquiry into the Holloway Road incident, but at the other stations there were no reported problems. No officers were injured during the disturbances as far as I know." One United fan said that clashes broke out around the stadium directly after the game.
"I've been going to Arsenal games for the last 11 years and this is the worst violence I've seen since 1990 when Manchester United won 6-2 in the Littlewoods Cup at Highbury," he said. "There was a swarm of people around Drayton Park station and there was pandemonium. "There were lots of scuffles where the coaches park. There was a really ugly atmosphere, and there did not seem to be a big police presence.
There were fights all over the place." But Superintendent Andy Smith, of Holloway police, who is responsible for overall policing at home games, said "Our strategy was to identify and shadow known trouble-makers and provide an appropriate level of policing," he said. "There were two very organised elements we were able to frustrate. A 38-year-old man collapsed inside the stadium during the game and died from a suspected heart attack in hospital. Police said the death was not connected with any disturbances.

Atalanta Bergamo - Brescia - 02/04/2000
Source: Soccer Fans
600 policemen and 2 helicopters were needed to insure the security around the stadium for this classic derby game. This did not prevent incidents to occur, as well before than after the game. At the arrival of Brescia fans, the police had to use teargas to disperse the Atalanta Ultras. During the game, all remained relatively calm. After the game, as expected, Atalanta 'Brigate' and 'Wild Kaos' goup gathered outside the stadium, trying to reach to visiting fans before they left the stadium. Around 500 Ultras managed to keep the police busy during one hour, forcing them to use once again teargas. Because all the police forces were outside the stadium, this allowed the Brescia Ultras, still inside the stadium, to enter into the pitch easily. They managed to cross the whole field, until some Atalanta Ultras went back to their tribune, to enter too on the pitch. Not one policeman was present at that moment. It took some minutes before finally some cops entered the pitch, but a short contact was possible between the two rival fans, on the pitch itself ! The game was played at 15H00, the Brescia fans could take their return train only at 20H00. Photo's of this game will follow soon on this site. 15 policemen were wounded, 2 more heavily. It is reported in the press that the police arrested around 50 Atalanta Ultras, although this seems quite exagerated to what I witnessed around the stadium.

Aberdeen - Glasgow Rangers - 02/04/2000
Source: Soccer Fans - Aberdeen view
This game at the stadium (pittodrie) had no real incidents, but after the game, at about 6 o'clock at night we were walking to go to some clubs when one of our top boys received a phone message saying Rangers ICF and some Chelsea Headhunters was at Guild Street beside the train station, we gatherde as many ASC as we could (about 100) and set off towards them. When we got around the corner we saw about 150 of them. We started singing one of our chants: We're red, your dead, we're bouncing on your head, we're Aberdeen. and running at them, as soon as we started fighting police arrived and escorted most of our lads into some nearby clubs and locked the doors. There was about 20 of us ASC outside and the coppers were trying to escort us with the Rangers and Chelsea to the station. We managed to get out of the police escort and sneaked up to where the rest of our lads were. The police let them out and one of my mates was telling me 3 rangers lads had gotten dragged into the club in all the confusion and got beat up real bad one was in hospital with broken ribs.

Before the match Ferencvaros-Diosgyor 24 ultra from both groups (Monsters and Stormy) get to the the railway station before the riot police get them a big escort at the final station in middle of Budapest. We call them in phone that we are there waiting for them. As the train arrived we attacked the train. We was very crazy because there was about 50-60 away supporter on the train as they said. Only 3 D.gyor supporter get of the train two of them where beaten up also two policeman get off the train each with two teargas they immidiatly started to spray it around. The away supporters started to trowing things on us we responded and as the newspapers said today one of them taken to hospital because he get a hit on his head with a glass. After the incident we call one of their leader again who said: I was get of the train (he was beaten up) but i do not know the others why not do so. Also he said that they started to trow glasses on us first. The newspapers said that we was with 50 warrior but it is not true i was also there and we was only 24!!!
About 1800 Ujpest fans made the trip with the special metro train, it only stopped at the station were the stadium of Ferencvaros is. There was heavy police presence, the Ujpest hools tryed to break trough a police cordon inside the station to get to the Ferencvaros fans. The police used tear gas and battons to force Ujpest fans into the stadium. The police also attacked the supporters of Ferencvaros, with brutality never seen before in Hungary. About 50 person were injured in total. Some Ujpest fans were hit by stones, but the other injuries were caused by the riot policemen on both sides. The angry Ujpest fans beat up some security personnel and they have destroyed a fast food facility inside the stadium. At half time Ferencvaros hools began to trow things and spit on the policemen outside the stadium, and they began to fight with the police inside. The riot police had to use teargas and battons to restore order. 30minutes after the game Ujpest fans were escorted to the metro station, were due to the failure of the police a train full of Ferencvaros supporters waited them. They beat up as many as they could, until the train left. After that their special train arrived, wcich only stopped at the first station in Ujpest. The police made about 24 arrest, and injured a lot of innocent people.

The game was interupted during some minutes, because of incidents in tribune between Napoli Ultras and the police. Teargas had to be used into the tribune, and the players couldn't play anymore for some minutes. The 1-1 result is probably meaning for Napoli team a stay in serie B for next season.

Zenit St Peterbsurg - Dynamo Moscow - 15/04/2000
Source: Soccer Fans
The former allies Dynamo and Zenit fans became rivals after season 99, because of one event. When (in 99) Dynamo fans came to St-Petersburg for an away game of their team they were attacked by fans of Zenit. Since then the rivalry between the two fan movements began - especially between young firms Jolly Nevsky (Zenit) and Patriots (Dynamo) - they say the rivalry was begun by these two firms. So an away to St-Petersburg in 2000 was considered to be an extreme one for the moscovites. Before the game after the clash of rival fans near one of cafes (Dynamo hard core fans attacked Zenit scarfers) a 15-year boy (from Petersburg) was killed. Police say that he died because of epileptic attack, but you what it really is. After the game many local, but really cruel and violent fights kicked off - they were all provoked by the death of the young Zenit supporter. As the result - many injuries, many people taken to hospitals (at the stand of Dynamo fans you could see many lads with their heads damaged by sticks and bottles) and just a few arrests.
Also not all information is known at the moments. Some people say that totally 3 lads died during the clashes.
Hooliganism level is rising in Russia very quickly. If the scum (which is bottles, stones, sticks and so on) won't be stopped - there'll be much more victims:Next week, 22.04 the Moscow derby - Spartak - CSKA. The two rival groups will clash for sure and we hope there won't be any dead people.

After the game has ended the 200 riot policemen left the stadium to prevent fights outside. Meanwhile inside the stadium about 200 "fans" from both sides climbed over the fences, and had a great fight on the pitch. Most of the Kispest "hools" cowardly ran away after the first few punches leaving some of their friend at the hands of the Ujpest fans. They were beaten up really hard and were chased out. The police arrived after 3 mins. of fighting and they could only arrest 3 slower fans. This was one of the biggest fights in recent years and the police was as good as usuall

Spartak Moscow - CSKA Moscow - 22/04/2000
Source: Soccer Fans
This Moscow derby has been always considered to be the most dangerous one, because Spartak and CSKA lads are the most violent hools in Russia. After the death of the young Zenit supporter in Petersburg last week huge forces of police (3000 people, which is much more than at the regular league game) were on duty this day to prevent the clashes of the rival firms. The game started at 17:00 but the firms began to mob in the city much earlier - at around 13-00. All the time before the match the spotters of the both lots were trying to spot the rival one, but in vain. It seemed like CSKA lads were hiding. Finally when there was only an hour left before the start of the game the mob of Spartak casuals (about 300-400 lads, 150 of them - representatives of all Spartak firms - hard core), who were fed up with just staying and waiting for the "horses" (that is how CSKA lads are called) went to the stadium. On the way to the stadium a window of the underground train was kicked and 2 police officers were hardly beaten with bottles. Near the stadium the mob decided to stay 15 more minutes keeping in mind that CSKA loosers may still come, but again in vain. Two stupid police officers were riding the horses, trying not to let the Spartak casuals to regroup and form the new mob. One of these assholes received a good kicking - either did his horse. After this episode both wankers on the horses ran away as fast as they could. At the stadium during the first half the perfomance was quite bad, but in the second one, when Spartak casuals managed to regroup and form a good lot (not all hools had the tickets to the one terrace) they started singing really great. After the penalty and goal on the 87th minute the great slam kicked off at the terrace of Spartak hools. After that the riot police came and tried to calm the casuals - no way! The trouble began. Hools fought police and won the short-time battle - some police lads were kicked and punched quite hardly. CSKA supporters who were really disappointed with the fact that their team hadn't won a game this season fired a smoke-bomb and also had troubles with police but these were much smaller than the ones, which took place on the terrace of Spartak hools. After the game Spartak hools mobbed again - about 400 people, but, unfortunarely, after waiting for CSKA wankers for about 1,5 hours again in vain, went home.

Hajduk Split - Dinamo Zagreb - Cup - 02/05/2000
Source: Soccer Fans
Game was 1. game in Croatian cup finals. From the start (3. minute) Torcida (fans of Hajduk Split) started to throw fireworks in the field and tried to break the fence. Then began fight with security on the stadium. Security ran away so special police (450 of them) entered in the north where Torcida was situated. Fight with them was very long, about 25 minutes. They also got away from the north. Problem was that not all of the speacial police managed to run away because gates on the fence were closed and they couldn't be opened because it was the only way for supporters to go into the field.
Fight with special police and "usual" police (1000 of them) was also very long, until 80. minute of the game. Supporters of dinamo zagreb (situated on the south-west) started to throw fireworks and chairs on the children and old people situated on the west part of staduim. Torcida on the north north-east broke the fence and ran all the way from the east of the satdium to south. There started another fight with special police. In the mean time Torcida on the north-west began with breakin the fence so police fired tear gas. Game stopped in 86. minute and never was finished. Fights continued outside the stadium (police started to shot from guns and fired few more tear gases) and in the town. Result is many people in hospital (49 of them were policemen) and in the jail, many broken shops and fire in the town. Just for the record Torcida stopped the game 2 weeks ago also on Poljud (stadiuim in Split) when they managed to jump over the fence and strated to beat Hajduk Split players because they played like girls. Week ago in rijeka Torcida also managed to jump into the field and began fight with supporters from Rijeka, but later game continued. And fence in the Poljud is known as biggest and most dangerous fence in Europe.

CSKA Moscow - Spartak Moscow - Cup - 04/05/2000
Source: Soccer Fans
This was the second derby between two biggest rival teams with the most violent hools during the last two weeks. This time it was a Cup game, not a league one, so it was much more important. During the first 6 league tours CSKA didn't win a point and didn't score a goal (!) and that game they managed to beat their biggest rival (it happens quite rare). Spartak played as bad as they could so greetings to cSCUM. As for the riots - 3 clashes occured this cold and rainy day: 2 between rival groups and 1 between riot police and Spartak casuals (the same story as at the previous derby and it seems it will never stop, so "to be continiued"). The first fight kicked off near the stadium, right near the entrance to the local underground station. Spartak casuals were getting out of the undeground when they spotted CSKA hools passing by and moving to the stadium. A short-time (3-4 min.) fight broke off. Totally there were about 200-300 hools from each side but only 50 fought each other. Possibly a draw (but you could see some CSKA hools running and mighty shout "Red-whites!" after the clash). At the terrace after Spartak lads fired a little smoke-bomb the trouble with riot policemen began - many of these assholes received a really good punching and kicking (it took about 3-4 min. too). After the game Spartak lads spotted CSKA supporters at one of the underground stations, fight kicked off and Spartak casuals won it but after they had kicked some scum out of the first group of CSKA lads the second one appeared - many of them were armed with bottles, sticks, belts and so on (you see there was an arangement between the leaders before the previous derby not to use armour during clashes, to prevent new deaths and so it was first ok, especially near the stadium the fight was totally pure - fists and boots, nothing else), so of course as the Spartak hools weren't ready for that and had NO armour, why they had to leave - that's what CSKA lads will call a "victory". Some blokes were badly injured (broken legs, hit heads and so on) with cSCUM's armour. That's it (150 people were in action from both sides). It was a bad day for Spartak Moscow and its hools. But anyway no one will forget that cSCUM supporters brought the armour and used it first. It seemed that violence was stopped at a definite level, but now it will probably go really tough...

The trouble started after the game ended, 1-0 to AIK. Hammarby supporters were taken out of the stadium and short after they started fighting with the police. The police were attacked with stones and bottles. 100+ Hammarby hools were involved in the trouble. Later at night a "meeting" was arranged by the two sets of firms in the city. approx 40 AIK against 60 Hammarby hit it of big time. the fighting lasted for several minutes before the police arrived. AIK is known for having a big and nasty firm but this time ( according to people who were there ) the hammarby mob got the better of them. mostly because they came tooled with ironbars and knives.

FC Utrecht - Ajax Amsterdam - 14/05/2000
Source: Soccer Fans+Ajax websites
A group of +- 80 Ajax lads travelled to utrecht by car, avoiding the mandatory combi-travel (organised, escorted travel), looking for a confrontation with the utrecht lads. Although it was clear that the Ajax fans were present no utrecht groups showed up (some drove by, showing utrecht tattoos, but that's all). After about an hour and a half/two hours riot police surrounded the Ajax group and sealed off the street. The Ajax fans were escorted out of utrecht. I don't know why the utrecht lads didn't show up, but they can sort that out for themselves. We were there, and that's what counts.
At the ground utrecht fans bricked the combi-coaches and smashed the windows. after the match they tried to get in the ajax end, but riot police pushed them back. 6 ajax fans and 7 utrecht fans were arrested.
