Three fans arrested at U's game
From the archive, first published Monday 24th Apr 2000.
Three football fans have been arrested in minor disturbances on the local derby day which saw Colchester United saved from relegation.
On Saturday, Colchester United beat Cambridge United in a 3-1 showdown at Layer Road, but the behaviour of "a small group of fans" was not so thrilling.
Insp Clive Butler, of Colchester Police, said in total three arrests were made during the match and the time afterwards.
"There were no public order offences," he said.
"It was a situation where fans of both sides were in various public houses in the town. Any potential for public order offences was averted by police action."
He said the derby match and the Easter Bank Holiday weekend had attracted larger crowds than normal which was all ticket only for away fans.
"The situation was some Cambridge fans turned up without tickets and were refused entry to the game," he said.
"They went into licensed premises and things started from there. There was some minor damage and one person was arrested for causing damage."
Despite the arrests Mr Butler said the majority of fans were well-behaved.
"Most Cambridge fans went straight home after the match and didn't even come into the town centre," he said.
"It was a small group of 50 fans altogether who caused the problems."

| Halifax: Fans held in dawn raids - 17/03/2000
Source: http://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk
FOUR Halifax football fans were arrested yesterday in dawn raids by police. The quartet were being quizzed by officers at Halifax Police Station about crowd trouble at the Shay Stadium. The arrests come after a month-long probe into serious disorder at the Nationwide Third Division match between Halifax Town and Rochdale on February 12. Ten Halifax police officers, from the football intelligence unit and the town-centre Shockwave team, swooped on homes in Illingworth, Greetland, King Cross, and Southowram at 6 am. The four men were being questioned on suspicion of public order offences. PC Andy Lund, Halifax Police football liaison and intelligence officer, said the arrests came after officers studied closed-circuit television footage provided by the club and police cameras. Forty people were thrown out of the ground after the trouble on the terraces of the Skircoat stand shortly after kick-off. The two-minutes of fighting was brought under control by police. An incident room was set up to investigate the problem. Some visiting Rochdale supporters later tried to get off a train at Hebden Bridge, but Calder Valley Police officers made sure they continued their journey home. Officers from Halifax were joined by two from Greater Manchester Police at the game. As part of a national agreement between police forces, officers travel to away games to spot potential and known trouble-makers among visiting fans. Following the trouble it emerged that club officials usually checked the accents of fans as they arrived at The Shay as a common ploy to root out trouble makers. The club s safety officer Mr David Rhodes said it was also a way to make sure visiting fans were sent to the away terraces on the South stand. Officers will again be on full alert tomorrow when Hull City visit the Shay.

A nasty mob of 60 BXl Boys, 10 BCS and 10 BCF were waiting for the Fast-Side at the entry of the away section but no show was made. We only spotted 5 cars from Lige who stopped 150 m from us and when they saw our group they went immediately back to Lige !!!!!! So we went back to the local pub where we talked with some top boys of Brugge in order to plan something good for our next meeting......Show must go on.....

A group of around 60 BCS went to Lokeren in order to have some fun. After the game we spotted a group of 30-40 locals who saw us and turned back. We charged them in order to catch some of those rabbits but they were too far from us and no contact was possible. This little action turned the attention of the cops on us. They made some intervention and arrested 14 BCS. (4 administrative - 9 juridical)

| AA Gent - RSC Anderlecht - 17/03/2000Source: drive.to/BCS + local newspaper For this 'always pleasant' away game, the BCS brought a strong mob of around 80 lads. After a chaotic arrival when we came in front of the Rebel sector, the first 8 arrestations were made. After the game all went mad, and now a mob of 120 BCS decided 'to take a look' at the Rebel side. Atfer a while we spotted a group of about 120-150 locals, we charged them but they didn't stand their ground and it was time for the police to come in the game. Unfortunely for the Cops they were very agressive and arrogant so we were forced to do the same with them and several clashes errupted in order to let them know who we are... But the law still have the last words and others arrestations were made: this time the Old Bill catched 76 unlucky BCS...

| RSC Anderlecht - RC Genk - 10/03/2000
Source: drive.to/BCS
Due to the non-respect of 1 minute silence for the dead of one of our toplads by a part of the Genk fans, violent incidents errupted during and after the game. During the game, 2 mobs of BCS lads tried to attack the Genk fans. The first one went to the terraces in order to jump over the fences but clashes between police and angry fans didn't allow a big confrontation. In the same time, on the first floor, the second mob clashed with the Genk casual at the entry of the away sector. A 4-5 minutes incidents where 5 lads were seriously wounded. After the game a BCS mob of about 60 lads attacked the bus sector. It was total mayhem, after a while a short but violent clash occured between 20-25 BCS and 50 Genk casuals. The Genks frontline was well game but the second line of the Genk fans was throwing bottles and glasses at us. So we were forced to turn back and get away from this bad situation. In conclusion the BCS made the action and the Genks lads proved that a casual movement is well existing in Limburg....

All Brussels casuals gathered in front of the Petit St Guidon. (with the away game still in our mind). At 20h10 we left this place with some 160 lads. Some of us had contact with the ACC and we knew that they came from the railway station Brussels Central ... so we walked with all to metro Veeweyde. After some minutes walking te group splitted in two (each of 70-80 people). There we were stopped at the Meir. After some running in the park we decided to went to the ground. After 80 minutes the whole mob took off. We were with a magnificent group of 200! lads. At the end of the street a polie intervention tried to stop us with a watercanon. Some 120 people regrouped after that fact. We continued our tour ... but at the moment we saw the impressive ACC mob, we were driven away by cops and BOB. +/- 10 lads got arrested but most of the lads were in the possibility to return to the St Guidon or Jury. Totally deceived ...
PS: There were two little incidents. Before the game there was a small incident before the PSG and after match also a smal incident with a cab...

Only 30 BCS made the transfer to Charleroi. After a quiet arrival, all became funny at the end of the game: We went to our car when near the pub of the Charleroi hools we spotted a group of 50 (+ 10 of PSV hools) who was waiting for us. We came to the contact and a clean fight made place while each group stood their place. Police intervention did'nt allowed further confrontations...

60-70 BCS made their way after the match in the Beerschot area. Firts we spotted 30-40 Kielse hooligans in a street near their local pub. we made a charge but they didn't stand their ground and ran away...we could catch some of them and they were seriously battered...Then, we continued our way to their pub and for a second time we charged them back till their pub. They offered no resistance and ran back again. Then we smashed all the windows and broke the door of their pub it was total mayhem... then we decided to chasse them back till the Olimpia avenue. They were cops making barrage between us and them, but we passed through the police and we charged them a third time...and for the third time they ran away at home....It was a total victory... BCS made the buzz in the Kiel.....

ANSWER TO BCF (FC Brugge)
1. After the game it's impossible in Anderlecht to go marching around with a mob of 50 or more so we always trying to go to the "away sector" with smaller group. What was not working is that we couldn't regroup in order to attack the BCF.
2. In the city town, we regrouped the mob in a pub 100m far from the place where the BCF mob was standing. First we were only with 15 and others lads were on their way and when the police saw that two mobs were up for it in the city center, they decided to lock the pub where we were standing and we couldn't escape to the police vigilance. Brugge lads were free to do what they wanted and we were arrested in our own city !!!!! Since the Euro 2000 and the rampage in Brussels the BCS mob had a good reputation in Brussels. For the Brussels Police the BCF represent just nothing (that's what they told us) and It's just the way it is !!!!

Only 40 BCS were up to go to "het Kiel" by car. Before the match we spotted 2 lads from Beerschot who let us know where we could find their Pub. After the game the Police allowed us to pass through the barrage and we arrived in the area of their pub. To our amazment only 3 lads from Beerschot came to us and they ran for their life after a little charge. Next to their pub the police made some intervention and forced us to go back to our car. We made the show and Beerschot was nowhere to be seen... is it still a crew?

Only 80 BCS (35 by car and 45 in bus) made the trip to Lige for this game played at 1pm. Before the game we regrouped the mob in order to attack the local pub. We passed a first police barrage but 100 m from the standard pub horses forced us to return to the Anderlecht's area. We spotted a group of Standard hools but they didn't come to us. After the match there were little skirmish with the police and 150 Anderlecht fans. The Old Bill escorted us to our cars and they arrested us and took several pictures of the main boys. 1 hour later we were allowed to make our way back to Brussels.

We were forced to travel by coach for this trip to Eindhoven. A mob of about 100-120 BCS were up for it. Before the game nothing happened. We were in constant contact with one of the leader from Eindhoven Oostfront who want to make an appointment after the match. During the game, angry Eindhoven fans attacked simple anderlechts fans who were sitting in the Eindhoven section. When we saw what was going on we broke the fence separating us from the Hollanders, but we were at the first floor and we couldn't manage to punish this fellows and after a while the police get everything under control. After this incident we phone at our contact and we fixed an appointment on the first parking on the motorway. Close to this meeting point, we phoned back to the dutchmen, nobody answered and as we supposed noone from the Oosfront were present at the motorway's parking.

We had a good turn out for this game. About 120-150 lads made the trip to Manchester. Before the game about 20 Manchester lads came for a punch-up. First they attcked innocent people but we came to help this simple fans. It was a clean fight but they were well outnumbered and some of them hit the floor but respect is due to this lads. At the end of the game we spied about 60-70 young lads that had come around the Anderlecht area. We made a charge but to our amazement they didn't stand their ground and ran away.

After the game the ACC lads attacked the Anderlecht coaches with stones and bats and they followed several of our coaches on our way back to Brussels. No luck for some Antwerp lads they were ambushed by some of our lads and were seriously battered.

| Cardiff - Luton: Fans in for 'a hot reception' - 27/01/2000
Source: http://www.lutontoday.co.uk
LUTON police s football liaison officer Peter Palmer has warned Town fans travelling to Cardiff on Sunday that they could be in for a hot reception. He suggested it would be best for the fans own safety if they travel on the organised supporters coaches, and said he was working with the Cardiff police to arrange protection for Hatters fans.Bad feeling towards Town fans was stirred in the Welsh capital by the burning of their national flag on the Kenilworth Road terraces when Cardiff came to Luton on August 28.Two youths were arrested and punished for that silly demon-stration. "They are now excluded from football, said PC Palmer. "We have told the Cardiff police what happened to them, and that they will not be around on Sunday."But news about the flag incident spread from Cardiff fans who were at the Luton match to other people in the city and they are quite upset about it."Cardiff police were concerned that there might be a disturbance and asked for the match to be changed from a Saturday kick-off to 12.15pm on Sunday."We don t expect many Luton supporters to travel, but those who do can expect a hot reception," said the Luton liaison officer. He said Luton followers on the coaches would be looked after by the Welsh police. "I just wonder who is going to look after me," he mused.Luton fans experienced violence at Ninian Park when Luton won there in an FA Cup fifth round clash in 1994. The difference this time is that there will not be a 17,000 gate with 3,000 or more coming from Luton.
