Spain : Police block Ultras Sur - 21/09/2014
Source : http://www.marca.com
Around 50 members of Ultras Sur congregated outside Real Madrid's annual general meeting to demand Florentino Pérez's resignation. Police surrounded Real Madrid's most radical supporters whose chants called for the Real Madrid president to resign, as well as criticising his management. "ACS (a construction company owned by Pérez), hands off Real Madrid" was one of the most popular numbers. The Real Madrid AGM got under way shortly after 11am with many delegate members in attendance and with more security measures in place than in recent years, following the announcement by the Ultras Sur group to boycott the meeting. Aside from the security provided by the venue and the club, four police vans were stationed outside the main entrance to Auditorium nº9 at IFEMA Conference Centre and entry to the building for delegate members and the press was preceded by three rigid security checks. Florentino Pérez was able to begin his speech without any trouble. The meeting progressed as expected and, luckily, there was not a single incident to report. Real Madrid's most violent supporters have been campaigning against Florentino Pérez and his board of directors since the start of the campaign when he officially banned the group from the Bernabéu terraces.

Police ready for notorious band of 200 Roma 'ultras' who will march on the Etihad - 27/09/2014
Source : http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk
They're due to come to Manchester ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League clash between City and AS Roma
Police are ready for a notorious band of around 200 Roma ‘ultras’ who will insist on marching together to the Etihad for Tuesday night’s Champions League match against City.
The Italian team will bring around 1,600 supporters to Manchester, and the first wave of fans are expected to fly in on Monday.
Greater Manchester Police is drafting in around officers to make sure the ‘high risk’ fixture passes off without incident.
Extra police officers will be on hand at the airport to greet Italians supporters under orders to try and open dialogue with vising fans.
Even more will be on hand in the city centre in the hours before Tuesday's kick off, including ‘police liaison’ officers who have become commonplace at marches and demonstrations.
They will have Italian interpreters with them to improve communication with the visitors.
Riot police, mounted officers and police dogs will also form part of a significant police operation.
Roma’s hardcore fans, or ‘ultras’, have a fearsome reputation, with fans from Liverpool, Middlesborough and Manchester United being stabbed during previous European encounters.
Police expect those hardcore fans to march en masse from the city centre to the ground, and officers will be ready to make sure their journey is trouble-free.
In 2007 police arrested 18 people outside Old Trafford following violent skirmishes before and after the match.
During the first leg in Rome a week earlier Italian police charge United supporters with batons, a move condemned by United who accused them of handing out ‘indiscriminate beatings’.
Since then Roma have been back to Manchester twice and the fixtures passed off without serious incident following major police operations to keep the peace.
Chief Superintendent John O’Hare said: “GMP is working closely with Manchester City football club to ensure all supporters have a safe and enjoyable experience. Roma supporters do come with a reputation and in 2007 when they played in Manchester we did experience some problems. However since then they have visited the city twice and there were no major issues.
“We have a policing operation in place from Monday evening which includes Manchester Airport and city centre. This will run throughout the day on Tuesday to ensure the day passes off peacefully with minimum disruption to the local area.
“The majority of football supporters will come to Manchester and behave in a responsible manner.
“We will continue to work with both clubs ahead of the return fixture in Roma later in the year.”

Greek Super League matches postponed after supporter death - 29/09/2014
Source : https://uk.news.yahoo.com
This weekend's Super League matches have been suspended by the Greek government, along with all other team sports in Greece, as a mark of respect following the death of a soccer fan after violent clashes at a third division match. Kostas Katsoulis, 46, died in the early hours of Monday morning after attempts to bring him out of a coma failed. "As a small token of respect to the memory of Kostas Katsoulis, who lost his life today as a victim of football fan violence, a decision has been made by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Giannis Adrianos to suspend all rounds of matches involving team sports this coming weekend," said a government statement. The Ethinikos Piraeus supporter had suffered serious head injuries following clashes with Irodotos fans in Crete during a third division match on Sept.15. The decision means that the sixth round of Super League matches will not go ahead, while it also effects the third round of third division matches, the basketball Greek Cup and the second round of Greece's handball top flight. The various sporting authorities have not yet announced when the postponed matches will be played.

England : Two Bristol Rovers fans jailed and others given suspended sentences after Mansfield disorder - 29/09/2014
Source : http://www.bristolpost.co.uk
THEY were decried by a judge for bringing shame on the city. One by one, Bristol Rovers hooligans took to the dock to receive punishment for their part in disorder which marred the end of club's 94-year tenure in the Football League.
The five who appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court were the latest to be sentenced for their roles in the trouble after the Pirates' defeat to Mansfield at the Memorial Stadium, which saw fans invade the pitch and disturbances break out outside the ground.
Two were jailed and the others escaped with suspended prison sentences. All were given football banning orders for either five or six years and lambasted for getting involved in shameful scenes on May 5 which were watched around the world.
Footage from CCTV, police and broadcaster cameras was played to the court and highlighted each man's involvement in the disorder which followed the club's relegation to the Football Conference.
Builder James Mallett, 29, of Moravian Road, Kingswood, was jailed for six weeks after being found guilty of a public order offence. The father-of-two was involved in the post-match trouble in Filton Avenue as Rovers fans were held behind a police line goading Mansfield fans.
Mallett had previously thrown punches at an Oxford fan at a game in 2012 and invaded the pitch at an AFC Wimbledon match.
He was also convicted of possessing cocaine earlier this year.
District Judge Lynne Matthews told him: "You could be seen spitting on one occasion. Either that or you were blowing a kiss – I doubt the latter."
Ashley Eyles, 19, of Tidenham Way, Patchway, was also jailed for six weeks after admitting two public order offences.
He could be seen invading the pitch wearing a hooded top, shouting abuse at Mansfield fans and beckoning police in a threatening manner. He was heard shouting 'GHS', which is short for Gas Hit Squad.
The court heard he had previously been involved in trouble when Rovers played at Newport County and disorder at the Golden Lion pub in Gloucester Road when Chesterfield played at the Memorial Ground.
Judge Matthews said: "You brought shame on the city – you only have to watch the recording in all its horror to see it."
Rolls-Royce employee John Smart, 49, of King Street, Kingswood, was given a suspended nine-week prison sentence after being found guilty of a public order offence.
The judge told Smart, who manages a local football team, he had a respectable job but "behaved like an animal when in a group of like-minded people".
Robert Scott, 26, of Filton Avenue, Horfield, received an eight-week suspended prison sentence and a curfew for two disorder offences. He joined the pitch invasion, pushing a police officer and trying to conceal his face with a scarf as he made threats to rival fans.
Michael Gould, 47, of Brookthorpe, Yate, was given a 12-week suspended sentence for affray and a public order offence.
Some 29 fans – 28 Rovers and one Mansfield – have been charged over the trouble.

Manchester City - AS Roma - 30/09/2014
Source : http://www.dailymail.co.uk
Police on alert for revenge attacks from Manchester United fans on Roma's 'ultras' Several United fans were stabbed before the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico and Italian police were accused of indiscriminately beating others in a series of baton charges. Francisco Totti, who once again captains Roma against City on Tuesday night, later issued a public apology to one female fan who was seen on camera being attacked without provocation, while Amnesty International were among those who called for an inquiry. Before the return leg at Old Trafford, 21 arrests were made as riot police tried to quell running battles between the two sets of fans.
Trouble flared again in Rome when the clubs met in the group stage later that year and a United fan was also stabbed before the 2009 Champions League final against Barcelona in the Italian capital. Roma’s return to Manchester has therefore raised as much concern over revenge attacks from United fans as the threat of clashes with City supporters. As many as 200 ultras are believed to be among the 1,600 Italian fans who have come over for the game. Most of them are expected to gather in the city centre and then march to the stadium under heavy police escort and helicopter surveillance.
They were involved in clashes with CSKA Moscow fans before their opening Champions League game in Italy earlier this month and not surprisingly this match has been designated a maximum Category C with hundreds of extra police deployed on the streets of Manchester to make sure it passes off peacefully. A spokesman said: ‘Roma supporters do come with a reputation and in 2007 when they played in Manchester we did experience some problems. However since then they have visited the city twice and there were no major issues. ‘We will continue to work with both clubs ahead of the return fixture in Roma later in the year.’

Casual violence — Dundee football hooligans speak out on the emergence of ‘Ultra’ violence in Scotland - 30/09/2014
Source : http://www.thecourier.co.uk
One of Scotland’s most feared hooligan firms today reveals the truth behind modern football violence.
For the first time, a Dundee Utility source explains the group’s links to extremist politics and sets the record straight on the rise of their youth wing, the Alliance Under Fives.
Over the next three days our special investigation lifts the lid on an expansion in Ultra culture that has seen vandalism and pyrotechnics infiltrate Scottish terraces.
Only this week Police Scotland confirmed they are investigating claims that Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk was subjected to racist abuse at St Mirren Park. That followed an alleged pitch invasion at Tannadice last week and ugly scenes at Hamilton where missiles were lobbed at rival fans.
Probing similar incidents this year, I tracked the notorious Aberdeen Soccer Casuals to a match where a top manager was spat at and pelted with coins.
We also hear from an expert on how the use of smoke bombs, surfing flags and political banners has spread from the continent to replace the hand-to-hand in-fighting of the 1980s. And the chief of Police Scotland’s football coordination unit tells us why he thinks there has been a perceived surge in football violence.
Dunde AUF, described as the 'younger crowd' of Dundee Utility.

Italy: 5 Napoli fans arrested for violence at cup final - 22/09/2014
Source : http://news.yahoo.com
Five Napoli fans have been arrested for the violence surrounding last season's Italian Cup final, which was marred by a shooting before the match.
Police say that among those arrested was Gennaro De Tommaso, who jumped over a barrier at the Stadio Olimpico to speak with authorities and argue for the match to be postponed.
De Tommaso and the others face charges of resisting public officials and violations of stadium laws.
Napoli fan Ciro Esposito was shot away from the stadium before kickoff of the May 3 game then died of his wounds in June.
Roma fan Daniele De Santis, who allegedly fired four shots, was among four people arrested a day after the game.
An investigation of the shooting is ongoing.
