England : Four Bristol Rovers fans banned after trouble at away game - 25/07/2013
Source : http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk
FOUR Bristol Rovers fans – including a former club steward – have been banned from football stadiums across the country.
The punishment was imposed for being involved in fights and disorder before a league game against Oxford United last season, which Rovers won 2-0.
They, and two home supporters, got involved in trouble around the Kassam Stadium on February 9 this year.
Oxford Magistrates' Court heard on Tuesday that there was a fight at the nearby Priory pub and disorder around the Bowlplex bowling complex.
During the court case, CCTV footage from the pub was shown, as well as video recorded by Avon and Somerset police outside the stadium.
The court was told Oxford fan Cleighton Tutty, 37, who claimed he was spat at, made hand gestures to Rovers fans in the pub garden "as if to start a fight".
He then pushed a one in the chest, triggering a fight between two groups of supporters.
Ex-Rovers steward Andrew Young; brothers Joe and John Lally; and Leslie Underdown's punishments all included three-year football banning orders after they admitted public order offences.
Kenny Reed, 21, of Braemar Avenue, Northville, who had no previous convictions, escaped a ban but was given a one-year conditional discharge for using threatening words and behaviour by making v-signs, shouting and swearing.
Father-of-five Young, 52, of Meadow View, Coalpit Heath, admitted causing a fear of unlawful violence by putting up his fists in a "fighting stance" and was a given a two-month curfew.
The Bristol Post understands he stopped being a steward – a role that involves guarding against violence – at the Memorial Stadium a number of years ago.
Joe Lally, 31, of Kellaway Avenue, was fined £500 after he admitted threatening behaviour by throwing a plastic cup over a police line and adopting a fighting stance.
His 26-year-old brother John, of Hopkins Close, Thornbury, admitted causing fear of unlawful violence by taking off his belt and hitting the ground with it in front of police at the Bowlplex.
He too was punished with a three-month curfew.
Grandfather Leslie Underdown, 46, of Blaisdon, Yate, was given a three-month curfew for causing fear of unlawful violence by punching a man at the Bowlplex who earlier "had a go at him".
Bristol Rovers' safety officer Dave Harper said Avon and Somerset police provided the club with the names and photos of everyone given a new banning order.
"We work very closely with the police and have an information exchange protocol," he said.
"Violence and disorder of any kind will not be tolerated in and around the Memorial Stadium, nor by our fans at away matches.
"As an extra punishment, three-year banning orders may also stop these individuals going to our new stadium, once it is built."
Martin Hill, 45, of Hotwell Road, John Henehan, 42, of Arnos Vale, and John Daly, 42, of Patchway, have denied using threatening words or behaviour and will be tried on October 24.

Police say 12 people were injured and three were detained following clashes before a Champions League qualifying match between local club Vardar and Steaua Bucharest.
Authorities only announced the injuries Wednesday, a day after the clashes late Tuesday in the capital Skopje when several hundred local fans clashed with riot police while trying to force their way into the Filip II National Arena. Seven police officers were injured, along with two stadium security officials and three fans, police said. The rioters hurled rocks and petrol bombs at police, who responded with tear gas and flash grenades.

More Than 30 Arrests Made at Moscow Football Derby
MOSCOW, July 289 (R-Sport) – Police arrested 31 people at a weekend football match between local rivals CSKA Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow, a spokesperson for Russia’s Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti on Monday. Sunday’s arrests, which the ministry said were made for “various offenses,” came five days after President Vladimir Putin put his signature on legislation designed to clamp down on violence at Russian sporting events. The so-called Fan Law, which is aimed at keeping the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia safe from hooligans, comes into effect on January 19, 2014. There have been more than 14,000 offenses committed at Russian sporting events over the last three years, according to Sports Ministry figures. Local police said the game at Lokomotiv Stadium drew roughly 21,000 spectators, including 6,000 CSKA supporters. CSKA picked up their second win in Russian Premier League play this season, beating Lokomotiv 2-1.
