Scotland : Hooligans jailed over attack on rival fans - 17/07/2013
Source : http://www.heraldscotland.com
TWO football fans have been jailed and banned from attending matches for attacking rival fans after a game.
William Simpson, 20, picked on his victim simply because he was an Aberdeen fan, punching him, knocking him to the ground and kicking him several times after the Scottish Premier League match between the Pittodrie team and Dundee and on December 29 last year.
Lee Stewart, 20, also punched another Aberdeen fan on the back of his head after the game at Dens Park in Dundee.
He was sentenced to three months in jail while his co-accused was given a sentence of 11 months.
The men, who both pleaded guilty earlier, were given football banning orders, meaning that they will be banned from attending any match in the UK for 30 months.
Vicki Bell, Football Liaison Prosecutor for the North of Scotland, said: "The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is absolutely determined to play its part in confronting the problems of violence motivated by prejudice or discrimination of any kind.
"Such totally unprovoked attacks are both shocking and unacceptable.
"Prosecutors will continue to prosecute anyone indulging in such behaviour with a zero-tolerance approach and reiterate the message that it has no place in modern Scotland."

A massive Lech mob for this game in Finland. As locals do not have a firm to compete with Polish, these last ones fought against police, throwing rocks, singing "Lech Poznan hooligans". Everything started after 2 Polish fans were arrested and when their friends tried to release them so police used pepper sprays. Police said 300 hooligans were present.

Celtic fan arrested at pre-season friendly during pitch invasion
A Celtic supporter has been arrested following a pitch invasion at the club's pre-season friendly with Brentford FC.
Neil Lennon's side beat the English League One side 2-1 in Middlesex on Saturday but the match was interrupted by smoke bombs and pitch invasions.
Local news website London24.com reported "unsavoury" scenes and that "overzealous Celtic fans launched smoke bombs and invaded the Griffin Park pitch on numerous occasions".
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that one Celtic fan was arrested during the match for invading the pitch.
The supporter was being held in custody on Saturday evening while the incident was investigated.
An earlier arrest for possession of a Class A drug was made outside the stadium.
Adam Forshaw gave the hosts an early advantage before Amido Balde and Callum McGregor put Celtic in the lead.
Brentford FC manager Uwe Rosler was quoted as saying: "Fantastic day and I thank Neil Lennon and the fans for making it a fantastic atmosphere."
An estimated 6000 Celtic fans made the trip to Brentford.

Police alert for Celtic supporters in Belfast - 17/07/2013
Source : http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk
SCOTS police have been drafted in to help protect Celtic fans in Belfast tonight for their Champions League qualifier against Cliftonville.
Around 100 cops — originally needed after an Orange Order parade ban led to riots — were told to stay put.
Extra officers have also been requested. But MSP Graeme Pearson hit out at Police Scotland for refusing to reveal details of the move. The Labour politician said: “It is only right to know when our officers are coming home.”
Rioting broke out close to Cliftonville’s Solitude ground last Friday. Some Scots officers returned home but the Police Service of Northern Ireland are asking for more to be sent across.
An insider said: “The Celtic match will be a real burden on the PSNI.”

Cliftonville urge Celtic fans not to wear Hoops shirts in Belfast
Cliftonville officials have urged Celtic fans not to wear the club's green and white shirts in Belfast city centre ahead of and after tonight's Champions League qualifier against the Irish League champions.
The friendship and cultural similarities between the clubs and their fans means there should be little animosity at the north Belfast ground, which has had its capacity increased to around 5,000 – but particularly in marching season, the situation could be different in other parts of the city. "Belfast city centre is a very welcoming place but people are very sensitive about colours, not just this week," said Cliftonville director David Begley.
"As a result, its probably best to avoid wearing colours into the city centre."

Russian Police Arrest 38 at Lokomotiv-Volga Football Match
Police said Sunday they had arrested 38 people for lighting flares and ripping up seats at a Russian Premier League football match.
Saturday's game in Nizhny Novgorod between FC Volga and Lokomotiv Moscow finished 2-1 to the visitors, and police said it was the Lokomotiv fans who had misbehaved.
"In the run-up to the match and during the game itself 38 people were arrested by police for breaking the law," the regional force sad in a statement.
Lokomotiv supporters lit 29 fireworks and caused damage to 66 seats at the 17,856-capacity stadium, police said.
Nearly 2,000 of the 11,000 in attendance Saturday had made the trip from Moscow, police said.
Both houses of parliament have approved legislation that would ban convicted hooligans from sports events for at least six months and up to seven years. It is awaiting President Vladimir Putin's signature to become law.

Argentina : San Lorenzo - Boca Juniors - Copa de Invierno - 21/07/2013

Two Boca Juniors fans killed in shootout
Two Boca Juniors fans were killed Sunday in a shootout between rival factions of hooligan gangs that support the famous Buenos Aires club.
Buenos Aires police said the shootout took place outside the stadium of rival Buenos Aires club San Lorenzo. The pre-season match was called off by San Lorenzo club president Matias Lammens.
The names of the dead men were not immediately released. Witnesses said about 100 shots rang out during the gun fight.
Sergio Berni, head of national security, blamed the violence on Boca club officials. In a radio interview he suggested the season should open in August with visiting fans banned from attending matches.
Violence is endemic in Argentine football, with many matches threatened by mayhem orchestrated by hooligan gangs. The Argentine Football Association says the violence is a larger societal problem, but has been blamed for not tackling the problem.
A fan of Argentine club Lanus was killed in June during a brawl with fans of rival club Estudiantes outside their stadium. The death was caused when the fan was reportedly struck by rubber bullets fired by police.
The Lanus club issued a statement calling the action "police brutality."

Italy : Milan AC - Sassuolo - Tim Tournament - 20/07/2013
Source : http://www.bbc.co.uk
AC Milan's Kevin Constant walks off pitch after racist abuse
AC Milan midfielder Kevin Constant walked off the pitch during a pre-season tournament match against fellow Serie A side Sassuolo on Tuesday in response to alleged racist abuse.
The 26-year-old Guinea international kicked the ball into the crowd and left the pitch in the 34th minute.
Milan sent on a substitute, and an announcement warned the game would be stopped if further incidents occurred.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has announced an immediate inquiry.
A statement from FIGC read: "The Federal Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to ascertain the extent of the racist incident that took place at the Stadio del Tricolore in Reggio Emilia during the Milan-Sassuolo match, which saw AC Milan player Kevin Constant the subject of chants from some supporters in the stands."
Constant's actions emulate Kevin-Prince Boateng's in January.
The Ghana international sparked a walk-off during AC Milan's match against Italian lower division club Pro Patria by picking up the ball midway through the first half and kicking it into the crowd before removing his shirt - he was then followed off by both sets of players and officials.
While Boateng had plenty of backing, it appears that Milan are less supportive of Constant's decision to leave the field.
The club said in a statement: "This was not a decision he should have taken upon himself to make.
"Despite his more than understandable reasons and the anger he must have felt, AC Milan would like to remind everyone that the only people responsible for intervening against any manifestations that offend the human dignity, which includes racial discrimination, are the referee in charge of the match and the head of public safety."
However, the statement added that racism deserves "zero tolerance".
In May, Fifa announced new measures to tackle racism, declaring that teams could be relegated or expelled from competitions for serious incidents of racism as a result of tough new powers.
