Schalke 04 - Eintracht Frankfurt - 24/11/2012

Source : AFP

Police to press charges after flares chaos

Police have said they will press charges against a group of 60 fans from Bundesliga club Schalke 04 who held up Saturday's 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt by lighting flares.

The start of the second-half was delayed by referee Guenter Perl after the fans lit around 25 flares during the half-time break which filled Gelsenkirchen's Veltins Arena with smoke.

"It was a sad situation, we have taken the details of about 60 people and will press charges," said a police spokesman.

"We video taped the incident, identified those involved and we intercepted them after the game."

After the majority of Schalke fans loudly whistled and booed those who lit the flares, team manager Horst Heldt said: "Something like this has to be condemned. I think our fans gave the right answer."

Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored for Schalke in the first-half before Stefan Aigner headed Frankfurt level just a minute later while Eintracht were later reduced to 10 men when Karim Matmour was sent off.

This is the second time this autumn Schalke fans have been involved in crowd trouble after more than 200 arrests were made at Dortmund on October 20 when groups of rival fans rioted.

Brazil : 8 arrested over football fan murder - 25/11/2012

Source : http://sport.msn.co.nz

Police have arrested eight people, including the president of a supporters group for Brazil's biggest football club Flamengo, in connection with the murder of a rival fan.

In a raid on the Rio headquarters of the 'Torcida Jovem' (young fans) club, police found weapons, drugs and 20,000 Brazilian Real ($A9,261) in counterfeit bills. They also seized a computer that had pictures of fans from opposing teams.

At the time of his arrest, club president Carlos Silva Santo was armed.

The arrests follow a homicide squad probe, dubbed Fair Play, into the murder of Vasco Da Gama fan Diego Martins Leal in Rio's suburbs last August before a derby between the Rio rivals.

Homicide officer Rivaldo Barbosa said that the 'Torcida Jovem' were found to have "an entire structure used for the commission of crimes, either injury or murder. We can say that it is a criminal organisation".

Two men from the 'Torcida Jovem' group, one of the oldest and largest organised fan clubs in Brazil, remain on the run.

In a statement, Flamengo denounced all type of violence and took no responsibility for the actions of factions of their fan clubs.

Spartak Moscow - Dynamo Moscow - 25/11/2012

Source : http://en.ria.ru

More than 160 Arrests at Spartak-Dynamo Clash

Police have arrested more than 160 people after the derby game between Spartak Moscow and Dynamo Moscow, the city police’s rapid-reaction force said Sunday.

Spartak fans booed their team off the field after a 5-1 defeat to Dynamo, and Spartak coach Unai Emery was fired minutes after the match ended.

“At the end of the match, more than 160 people were arrested for various misdemeanors by officers of the special unit,” the police said in a website statement.

“More than 70 pyrotechnics and six flares were confiscated.”

The arrests came eight days after Dynamo’s match with Zenit St. Petersburg was abandoned when a pyrotechnic exploded near Dynamo goalkeeper Anton Shunin, causing him to be briefly hospitalized with eye injuries.

Dynamo were awarded a 3-0 win by default for that match after the Russian FA held Zenit responsible for the actions of fans in the away end, from where the pyrotechnic was thrown.

Sickening! FA must act after West Ham fans mock Spurs supporters stabbed in Italy

Season 12/13 - November - Page 5 137324WHU

West Ham United are facing an FA investigation after their fans subjected Tottenham supporters to vile chants at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Spurs’ 3-1 Barclays Premier League win was overshadowed by sickening songs about the stabbings of the Tottenham fans in Rome last week.
Anti-Semitic taunts were also heard, along with persistent hissing and references to Adolf Hitler.

Hundreds of West Ham supporters chanted ‘Viva Lazio’ at numerous points during the game in a macabre show of support for the hooligans who left at least 10 Spurs fans injured and one needing emergency surgery.
Ashley Mills, 25, of Essex, had to be admitted to hospital for stab wounds to his head and groin after being set upon by a gang of masked thugs while in Rome for Tottenham’s Europa League match against Lazio. Two men have since been charged with attempted murder.
Italian flags were seen in the away section on Sunday and a red flare was also set off. After Tottenham had scored their second and third goals, ‘Lazio’ was chanted, bringing ironic cheers from the home crowd.
The most distasteful chants were saved for towards the end. In reply to Spurs fans chanting, ‘Can we play you every week?’ West Ham fans sang: ‘Can we stab you every week?’
Anti-semitic chanting, hissing and the references to Hitler then followed.
The FA said they would await reports from referee Andre Marriner and fourth official Mark Clattenburg before taking further action.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce said he had not heard the chanting but agreed his fans ‘should not be doing that’. Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas branded the chants as ‘stupid’.
Allardyce said: ‘I don’t hear what the fans say or do when I’m concentrating on a game of football.
‘They shouldn’t be doing things like that, should they? But it’s the least of my worries at the minute.’
Asked about the Hitler chanting, Allardyce said: ‘If I didn’t hear it, I can’t condemn it. I’ll wait and look at it myself and then I’ll comment after I’ve listened to what they’ve said. I don’t want to be a political animal. I’m in here to talk about football, not what fans are saying or singing.’
Villas-Boas said: ‘We know the animosity there is between Tottenham and West Ham. As long as it doesn’t reach stupidity, it is a great rivalry.

‘I understand the whole situation is unavoidable although we can’t decipher the complete meaning of what they were singing.’
The two clubs have a long-standing history of abuse between supporters. Former West Ham striker Jermain Defoe, who was booed throughout, scored two of the goals in the win for Tottenham, a victory that takes them one place above the Hammers.
Spurs fans have been the subject of complaints by the Society of Black Lawyers who objected to the White Hart Lane supporters singing ‘Yid Army’ about themselves. Sportsmail has highlighted that this kind of disgraceful chanting is just as despicable as racist abuse, pointing out unacceptable behaviour such as vile abuse Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is subjected to at various grounds.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones, who has been the victim of sustained abuse, said: ‘It is like a form of racism because it is every bit as bad.’
Spurs supporters rushed to condemn their West Ham rivals on Twitter.

Andrew Leason wrote: 'West Ham fans & their Lazio/Hitler chants showing what utter vile scum they are.'
West Ham fan Andrew Wiseman posted: 'The minority of hammers fans with the Lazio chants should hang their heads in shame. And I'm a Hammer. Pathetic.'
Ed Aarons commented: 'Not surprised at all by reports of moronic Lazio chants by West Ham fans at WHL. Not exactly known for their intelligence.'
West Ham fans were also accused of hissing in reference to the Jews who were slaughtered by the Nazis in concentration camps.
'Hissing, Lazio chants and (letting off) a flare. You classless bunch of p***** are really enjoying your cup final, aren't you West Ham,' posted Louise Page.
And Charlie Parrish added: 'Next to West Ham away fans. Lots of Lazio chants. Football's pretty grim sometimes.'

Zenit : 2,000 Police to Guard Match With No Fans - 26/11/2012

Source : http://en.ria.ru

Two thousand Russian police officers will be on duty at Zenit St. Petersburg’s match with CSKA Moscow even though no fans will be allowed in, Zenit said Monday.

The St. Petersburg side have been forced to play the match, and their game against Anzhi Makhachkala on December 9, behind closed doors as part of their punishment over a flare-throwing incident.

Despite the lack of supporters, a standard police presence will be deployed, Zenit said in a website statement.

Zenit’s game at Dynamo Moscow earlier this month was abandoned when a pyrotechnic thrown from the Zenit end injured Dynamo goalkeeper Anton Shunin. Dynamo were awarded a 3-0 win by default.

Zenit have vowed to appeal their punishment, but the case will not be heard in time for the CSKA game.
