| Uruguay football season suspended - 20/12/2008
Source: Associated Press
The Uruguayan Football Association suspended the final weekend of a tumultuous season due to ongoing fan violence.
The announcement of the suspension was made late Friday after the Interior Ministry objected to the use of a stadium due to host a key game. It did not state when or if the final round of games would be played.
In November, the season was suspended for 15 days after about 100 fighting fans spilled on to the field during a game between Danubio and Nacional, prompting security officials to impose tighter restrictions on stadium conditions.
Danubio and Nacional are tied at the top of the standings.
Officials wanted Danubio's game against Penarol switched away from the stadium where fighting between fans broke out on Nov. 16. But their preferred venue — the more-secure Centenario stadium — was scheduled to host a game between Nacional and Central Espanol at the same time, and Central Espanol was unwilling to change venues.

| New appeal for information fans who abused Sol Campbell at Fratton Park - 22/12/2008
Source: http://www.thisishampshire.net
OFFICERS investigating indecent chants at a Hampshire football match have renewed their appeal.
Following an initial appeal police have made a total of twelve arrests, and are now asking for the public to look again at the last five images and see if they know the men pictured.
The investigation follows abuse directed at Pompey player Sol Campbell during a game against Tottenham on Sunday, September 28, 2008.
Officers have received a steady stream of information and names, however they are keen to stress that would like to hear from anyone who recognises the remaining five people.
Superintendent Neil Sherrington, said, “We have had an excellent response to the first set of pictures, however these five men still remain outstanding and we are keen to identify them as soon as possible, and so I would encourage anyone who knows them to contact us.”
On Saturday, December 20 a further three arrests were made, bringing the total arrests to 12.
A 42-year-old man from Milton Keynes, a 13-year-boy from Milton Keynes and a 34-year-old man from Shropshire were arrested and have been questioned on suspicion of indecent or racial chanting at a designated football match after attending a police station in Portsmouth.
All three have been bailed until January 13, 2009.

| Arsenal Slap Life Bans On Spitting Fans - 17/12/2008
source: goal.com
Some Arsenal 'fans', who held prestigious Emirates season tickets, have been banned for life by the club...
The conduct of Arsenal's supporters at the Emirates Stadium is under yet more scrutiny. The Gunners' 'faithful' were widely slammed over their treatment of Emmanuel Eboué, whom they jeered during the narrow win over Wigan Athletic recently.
Now, though, some distinctly loutish behavior has been uncovered, pre-dating the E-boo-é situation.
Reports suggest that the club have banned some of their fans after they abused visiting Everton supporters in October. Somewhat surprisingly, the people in question were affluent £3,000-a-season ticket holders who occupied sought-after 'Club Level' vantage points inside the stadium.
Angry Toffees supporters complained and, now that the Metropolitan Police have had a chance to investigate, Arsenal have informed their Premier League rivals that the culprits have been identified and told never to come back.
A letter penned by Arsenal beaks is said to read: "As a result of investigations, a number of Arsenal members have had their membership and ticket-purchasing rights rescinded on a permanent basis."
Visiting fans were also less than impressed with the match stewards, according to The Guardian, who allegedly chose to ignore the offending fans at the time.

| Arsenal: Fan banned from pubs on match days - 19/12/2008
source: local newspaper
AN ARSENAL fan who urinated on a burger bar counter and threatened drinkers has been banned from every pub in Islington on match days.
Highbury Corner magistrates have imposed a two-year anti-social behaviour order (Asbo) on Michael Doyle, 39, who lives in Andover Road, Finsbury Park. Police and Islington Council applied for the Asbo after complaints from publicans, pub customers and residents. Mr Doyle is already banned from attending football matches until 2010, after he twice invaded the pitch at Arsenal’s former home, Highbury, in 2005. He went on to breach this on six occasions, prompting police to apply for an Asbo against him. The court was told Mr Doyle had been convicted of harassing customers outside a nightclub in March last year, threatening staff and customers in a Holloway Road pub in May, urinating on a counter in a burger bar in front of families and children in August and being abusive and throwing coins at police officers and their cars in September.

| Northern Ireland : Linfield FC - Glentoran FC - 26/12/2008Source : belfasttelegraph.co.uk Riot police deal with hooligan fans as Linfield beat GlentoranLocal football chiefs will once again launch an inquiry into violent scenes at a Glentoran v Linfield match after police had to be called to quell clashes at today’s annual Big Two Boxing Day meeting at Windsor Park. The Irish FA will examine the referee’s report and gather information from security staff as Linfield beat their Belfast rivals 3-0. It is the latest in a line of meetings between the clubs that have been marred by crowd trouble. There were problems at the same Boxing Day game at Windsor Park two years ago and the most infamous game between the clubs in recent years was the April 23 match in 2005 at the Oval when fans rioted on the pitch after former Linfield striker Chris Morgan scored a winner for Glentoran. Yesterday around 70 Glentoran fans — in a crowd of almost 10,000 — broke through a security cordon intended to stop them from occupying seats on the bottom deck of the North Stand in close proximity to Linfield supporters and proceeded to throw missiles at Blues fans in the Kop Stand. A series of objects were then thrown between the rival sets of fans, with stewards powerless to break up the violence. Fireworks were also thrown, coming less than two months after Linfield player Conor Hagan was hit by one just seconds after the final whistle in the County Antrim Shield final defeat by Cliftonville. Referee Michael McLaughlin stopped the match at half-time. After a seven-minute delay the match recommenced, but only when police officers in riot gear appeared on the scene. “I’m not going to criticise Glentoran Football Club or the genuine supporters, but there are people who will connect themselves to any club,” said Linfield manager David Jeffrey. ************************************************************* Source : Press Video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=PL&hl=pl&v=9YopzbU-NvU | |
