PAOK hooligans sentenced - 21/09/2004

Source: Reuters

Five supporters of PAOK Salonika have been given 12-month suspended sentences after tearing up seats and setting them alight during a UEFA Cup match in Thessaloniki last week, the Athens News Agency said on Tuesday.
The fans have been banned from attending any PAOK games for the next eight months and will have to report to their local police station when the team is playing, ANA quoted court sources as saying.

PAOK lost the UEFA Cup first round, first leg match 3-2 against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.

Meanwhile, an Albanian man charged with injuring two Greeks with a broken bottle after the World Cup qualifier between the two countries in Tirana on September 4 was handed a four-month suspended sentence by a Thessaloniki criminal court on Monday.

Trial 'a warning to others' - 18/09/2004

Source: IC Teeside

A stark warning has been issued to football louts after seven Teesside hooligans were jailed for violent clashes during a Boro away game.

Detective Sergeant Ian Fawcett, head of Cleveland Police's football banning unit, said similar jail terms faced others choosing to sully the name of Teesside through violence.

All but one of the eight-strong gang, who travelled to an away match with Portsmouth on May 15, were handed "super-bans" to prevent them from attending any match for six years.

Portsmouth Crown Court yesterday heard the group was at last season's final gamewhich Boro lost 5-1. They left the ground at half-time when their team was losing, embarking on a pub crawl in Southsea.

Trouble started when the men, from Stockton, Norton and Eaglescliffe, began singing abusive lyrics about Portsmouth FC.

A Portsmouth fan allegedly threw a glass at the group and a fight broke out with chairs, glasses and abuse being hurled around the Apsley pub in Southsea.

Ian Harris, prosecuting, said: "The group got extremely drunk before going to a public house. They were singing chants that were bound to, if not designed to, infuriate local people."

A second fight broke out in another bar and trouble spilled onto a main road. The court was shown CCTV footage of some of the men kicking and punching other men.

When police arrived, the fans ran to a hotel where they were staying, followed by home fans. They were arrested and all pleaded guilty to violent disorder charges at an earlier court hearing.

The men are: Justin McLeary, 29, of West End Way; James Doyle, 24, of Warwick Close, Eaglescliffe; Karl Rogers, 32, of Fox Street; Christopher Arthur, 22, of Esk Road, Norton; Glen Gilbert, 34, of Granville Grove, Norton; Lee Franklin, 24, of Albany Road, Norton; Richard Nunn, 29, of Dovedale Road, Norton; and Phillip Payne, 24, of Newark Walk, Norton.

Yesterday, Judge Gareth Cowling sentenced Arthur, McLeary, Doyle, Payne, Rogers and Nunn to six months in jail for their part in the disorder. Franklin was jailed for four months.

The judge imposed a community punishment order of 150 hours on Gilbert.

A six-year football banning order from any football match in England and Wales was imposed on all the gang except Gilbert, who received a three-year banning order.

The judge warned them they would be arrested if they attended regulated football matches in breach of the banning orders.

He said incidents caught on CCTV cameras brought "fear" to people who saw it happening on their streets.

He added: "Those who chose to take part in such activity, even if provoked, must do so at their own peril and they must take the consequences."

David Lancaster, defending, said: "If it hadn't been for the Portsmouth fans pursuing the Middlesbrough fans on two or three occasions, these young men would not be here today."

Det Sgt Fawcett said: "This acts as a strong warning.

"If you are intent on causing disorder you will be seen and are very likely to go to court and be jailed or banned from games.

"A couple of these defendants were known to us while some were not. It shows we get various groups mixing together and they pay for their mistakes when they get involved in disorder."

Rob Nichols, editor of the Fly Me To The Moon Boro fanzine, said: "As Middlesbrough fans we like to encourage the situation we had on Thursday night when fans from both teams created an amazing atmosphere.

"Hopefully the violence side of it will become a thing of the past."

Wolverhampton Wanderers - Cardiff City - 24/09/2004

Source: ITK - Woves lad view

Wolves meet up in town before heading off to a pub outside of the city centre.. about a mile-mile and a half out. Cardiff told where to go and apparantly they were on their way.. After about an hour in the pub OB turn up which in fairness was a bit of surprise to many. but what can you do eh? wolves forced into the pub this point there must have been about 40-50 OB, Riot vans etc. wolves then told to leave the pub everyone searched and then we got escorted back into town.. ESCORTED IN OUR OWN TOWN I ASK YA! escorted all the way down to the ground where everyone then goes off to do whatever.. few rumours of it having kicked off down by the ground.. cant say what happened as around 100-150 wolves were being escorted.

After the game.. wolves mob up and head towards the ring road. pretty much seemed on top blocking off the road etc. sort of a split up occurs and wolves make way down ring road. Cardiff then come from the back of the coach park... at a guess there must have been a couple hundred or so.. 6 ob to stop it at most.. wolves come across ring road... a hadnful of slaps given before Cardiff back off being pushed back by 5-10 OB. more ob then come down the street and wolves get pushed back into the city centre then the usual OB splitting everyone up around the streets.. baton charges etc.. thats the way I saw today.. im sure some of the others who were present can maybe give an account of other 'activities' that occured..

SK Lierse - St Truiden VV - 26/09/2004

Source: mail

The PCL lads gathered at noon in a pub somewhere in Lier. After repeatedly trying to reach the JGS mob we left very disappointed towards the stands. We were with a large group and that group expanded to 60 lads when we reached the stadium. A rarely large group. Perhaps maybe a group where we would look pretty nicely in the Belgian scene. When almost all the lads were at the stands, we received a phone call at 14.57 that the JGS mob was waiting for us in the city centre. We called our spotters and told them to look for the group. Our spotters spotted them and told as that they were about 25 lads between 19 and 25. After discussing it with the lads that stayed outside we decided that we shouldn’t wait until after the game, but encounter them with the group of lads that stayed outside and also small group of lads that left the stands. With about 20 casuals we went towards the centre where there was no sign of any enemy mob. Some lads left again towards the stadium. After they had left, JGS called again with there new location. The reduced PCL group decides to still seek confrontation with JGS. After walking a little bit the time had come. A little PCL group of about 10 to 12 lads encountered some JGS lads that made a runner. Some sintruin lads headed into there cars which weren’t harmed by the lierse youths. Only after a second group of JGS lads made there entrance the 2 groups got off. It was a give and take battle with nice toe to toe fights. The fight was pretty fair until some sintruin lads damaged a car of one of the pcl lads. Some time later the JGS lads also armed there selves with their belts. After a fight of about 5 minutes, Old Bill ended the little rampage in Lier centre. After the game the Pallieter casuals gathered again with a large group. But the JGS left Lier already as if they had never been there. Conclusion: nice fight between two upcoming mobs!!!!!!

Ferencvaros TC - Millwall FC - 30/09/2004

Source: BBC + forums

Man hurt in Hungary football riot

Up to 3,000 Millwall fans have travelled to Hungary for the match
A man has been stabbed and seriously wounded in clashes between Ferencvaros and Millwall football fans in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
The scuffles took place before a UEFA cup tie match between the two sides kicked off at 1900 GMT (2000 BST).

"Eight people were taken to hospital... there is one man who speaks English who was stabbed in the back," spokesman for the ambulance service Pal Gyofi said.

Police said up to 3,000 Millwall fans had travelled to Hungary for the game.

A witness said the police had to use teargas and mounted officers to end the clashes.

Police spokesman Endre Kormos told AP news agency that two Millwall fans remained in police custody after being detained on Wednesday for disorderly conduct.

There were also reports of trouble inside the ground in the build up to Middlesbrough's away game at Banik Ostrava in the Czech Republic.

Seats were ripped up and thrown by rival fans after Middlesbrough fans were able to buy black market tickets for the home end.

But the fighting was quelled by local police using batons and the game began on time.

**********************************************************

Millwall view:

............in the business centre in our hotel, been up all night, many stories to tell, 7am Budapest time.

About 1.30pm thursday 100-150 Ferncvaros (Fradi) came in city centre, picking little groups off, then bumped into 30 wall.
Fradi tooled up to the eyeballs, crow bars, poles, a sword, some metal wire around an arm with a freddie kruguer claw attached steamed at wall, mostly young 'uns backed off, then older wall regrouped chased them back.

The above is a second hand account so wait for the pictures and other posts for a more accurate story.

Below is a first hand account of our evening.

Meet was at 7pm on river, by 730pm about 600+ wall all mobbed up, good firm, started to make way to metro station. Went through square then up road past casinos etc. the shout went up, Fradi came from behind and from a side street about 150 again. All the old faces charged, chairs, paper stands, road signs, the kitchen sink thrown at them, at least 6 hungarians sparked put on floor, they run everywhere, got a good shoeing.

ob let off some gas so made our way to station. numbers down to about 400+ as people had got split up chasing fradi from the earlier off.

Got on metro piled in, packed in like sardines. First stop we see 3 meatheads who saw us then run down platform to let their lot know. in total about 25-30 of them. doors werent opening so they started giving it, kicking windows etc.

wall shouting 'you wait for these doors to open' bang doors open, lads pile out, straight away they were on their toes. a few got whacked chased them up stairs more up there backed off. so back on tube doors shut. they came dowm gave it again. doors open...........same thing.

(after first attack some hungarian woman collapsed on train, unconcious for over 10 minutes, her friends slapping her face, her body stiff, got off next station still unconcious. I think she had a heart attack, they checked pulse didnt seem like she had one, terrible to see an innocent lady die next to you but nothing confirmed yet so hope to god that she is ok)

Get to ground some scuffles in station, ob not a clue. came out surrounded by their lads, all kept together crossed road rammed against railings, nowhere to go, ob all around us, a few bottles etc flew at us, gas fired at them, nothing serious by ground.

Queue up, about 700 queuing, loads already inside. 15 of us including me were not allowed in so penned in outside away end. another 10 millwall in same boat joined us so 25 max of us on our own outside ground.

By this time all of us were thinking this is well on top, ob told us to fuck off, so we gingerly walked onto main road.

Everyone tensed up ready for some attack, quite a lot of little groups around, but fortunately nothing happened, got down on metro numbers upto 40 now, still very very wary after 2 good results already but all got back to town safe&sound.

met a few lads back at hotel, they got their own story about after game walking back on their own to the city!!

We got a very good result, some fellas here who aint wall but been with england said this topped anything they have seen. Ferencvaros are one of the top mobs in europe, but today they faced the best. They were shown what millwall is by some old game mad lads.

Very sad about the stabbings, word is 12 have been stabbed now. Our wishes go out to them, all the best, hope they are all well.

Regards...

***********************************************************

Ferencvaros view:

First fight happened near Fradi stadium between 10-15 Walls and 30 Fradi hools, total victory for us because of numbers.

Second fight happened at Vorosmarty square between 200 Fradi hools and maybe 40-50 Walls, another easy victory.Millwall regroupped after 10 minutes they've looked good, but before anything start it OB arrived.

Third fight same place later on.Large group of Wallers 300 many good lads,Fradi hools 200 attacking them from side streets, they've been tough but maybe a draw.Bottles bats chairs was used, two Wallers got stabbed(Fuckin idiot, now everybody can say that we're like gypsies, but Wallers had knifes also, ill hope those guys getting better)

Fourth fight at Ferenciek tere metro station English stopped the train Fradi hools 100-120 came down from the top,the riot begin Millwallers(2-300 hard to tell) pushed our lads back to the top,but we came back than they controlled the situation and they won.Couple of our lads've got beaten badly.

Fifth fight at Nepliget metro station Millwallers smashed everything several normal lads've got beaten unfortunately, nice fight with the police, they used gas against them.
After all Fradi lads tried to attack Walls section outside of the stadium,OB won...

The game was easy we are thru!Good supporting from both sides.
Maybe more news for after the game.

Conclusion:
Millwall did good,respect to them.
Fradi hools tried their best, but many good lads didn't come for the reason as i mentioned on this site before, many of them working for security guard now, and we're falling apart.Today almost only younger faces showed up(Uj generacio) included with 30-40 older lads.It wasn't enough. They tought it will be a good party, yeah it was
Millwall showed up they'were better, because they were together all the time after the first two attacks.
First lost after many years.

Burnley - Cardiff City - 28/04/2004

Source: ITK - CCFC lad view

The intention was to give you all a nice suprise,as a coach was booked weeks ago with half the numbers made up out of some of the bestest banned lot(Burnley on a tuesday night was seen as guaranteed for frolics). As you know yourself, sometimes these ventures fall flat-for whatever reason. 10 of us made it up in a minibus, had a few drinks in town then went to the Wellington to meet others, before your bizzies told us to leave. Had a couple in the cricket club-we had around 30 by now as a few latecomers turned up. The first 12(no Forest,it was a different dozen this time )got onto the main road. As with last year when a mob of Burnley walked past and just obscenities were dished out, this time 20 well dressed locals-a mixture of early 20s upwards, and a dozen visitors sprinted into each other head on to exchange a bit more than swearing this time. Rather good while it lasted, and valleys text got the outcome correct. I won't go into detail because unfortunately theres a court case or two afoot. I don't think the SS turned out big numbers and it was a shame our suprise compliment never materialised, but it was a giggle all the same. Around 40-50 lads in the ground but well sussed after the game.

Banik Ostrava - Middlesbrough - 30/09/2004

Source: BBC

There were also reports of trouble inside the ground in the build-up to Middlesbrough's away game at Banik Ostrava in the Czech Republic.

Seats were ripped up and thrown by rival fans after Middlesbrough fans were able to buy black market tickets for the home end.

But the fighting was quelled by local police using batons and the game began on time.

Only 900 tickets were available for purchase by the Middlesbrough fans.

Fans without tickets had travelled to the Czech Republic and bought tickets from touts for as little as £5.

Witnesses said there were no police inside the stadium at the time of the incident but within minutes a 100-strong force arrived, just as the football players were taking their positions on the pitch.

Football hooligans trapped by FBI - 15/09/2004

Source : BBC news

Nine football hooligans have been jailed thanks to the American crime fighting agency, the FBI.

Staff at Chorley station had blanked the CCTV tape.

The men, all Bolton Wanderers fans, were caught on video tape last February assaulting a Manchester United fan at Chorley railway station, Lancashire.

But the CCTV footage was wiped accidentally by station staff.

However, the tape and video recorder were sent to the FBI headquarters in Virginia where scientists were able to restore the images.

Preston Crown Court heard three United fans were knocked to the ground and kicked repeatedly at the railway station.

Steven P****, 47, from Leigh, was knocked unconscious, spent several days in intensive care, and needed reconstructive surgery to an eye socket.

Mr P**** can only walk with the aid of a stick.

Nine men, all from Bolton, pleaded guilty to violent disorder.

Ronald B*******, 31, and Anthony C*******, 32, were both jailed for two and a half years and 44-year-old Malcolm C****** was imprisoned for 12 months.

'Pack mentality'

The other six, Gerard G********, 38, Timothy H****, 44, John N*****, 41, David H****, 38, John B******, 38 and Anthony B******, 48, were given intermittent custody orders to serve time at weekends.

A tenth man, Paul K*******, 43, was given 150 hours community service.

Judge Michael Evans said: "It is a tragic example of what can happen when otherwise respectable people have been inebriated by excessive amounts of alcohol and are carried away by herd instinct and pack mentality."

Inspector John Vernon of British Transport Police said the FBI's help had been "incredible."

"They were able to examine and retrieve what was effectively a blank tape," he said.

Football fans jailed for violence - 17/09/2004

Source : BBC news

A gang of drunken football fans has been jailed for violent disorder after a brawl with other supporters.

The Middlesbrough fans were caught on camera punching and kicking Portsmouth FC supporters after a match in May.

Six men were jailed for six months and banned from matches for six years. Another man received four months in jail and a three-year ban.

All the men pleaded guilty to violent disorder when they appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Christopher A*****, 22, Justin McL****, 29, Karl R*****, 32, James D****, 24, Richard N***, 29, and Phillip P****, 24, all from Stockton on Tees, were all jailed for six months and banned from games for six years.

Lee F*******, 24, also from Stockton-on-Tees, was jailed for four months and banned from matches for three years.

The eighth member of the gang, Glen G******, 34, also from the same area, was given a 150-hour community punishment order.

Singing abusive songs

Portsmouth Crown Court heard how the gang had travelled to watch the game but left at half-time because their team was losing.

They then went on a drinking binge and trouble flared when they began singing abusive songs about the opposition.

A Portsmouth fan allegedly threw a glass at the group and a fight broke out with chairs, glasses and abuse being hurled around the Apsley pub in Southsea.

The men were then followed to Sam's Bar where a second fight broke out between the two groups of fans.

Trouble spilled out on to a main road and the court was shown CCTV footage of some of the men kicking and punching other men.

David Lancaster, defending, said: "If it hadn't been for the Portsmouth fans pursuing the Middlesbrough fans on two or three occasions, these young men would not be here today."

SC Rotor Volgograd - FC Rostov - 25/09/2004

Source: rus-hool.narod.ru

Version of Volgograd lads R.F.G.: the fight 'fk rostov' vs 'rotor volgograd' hools occured on the 25th of september. this clash was spoiled by unskillful activities of volgograd 'chiefs' what was the reason of absence of fighters. when there were about 120 volgograd lads they were spotted and disseminated by a.c.a.b.'s. finally, about 50 gathered near the palace of sport - action place - where 3 buses of rostov hools had been waiting for hours. short talks about equal fight resulted in zero - rostov hools made for volgograd side in whole number. part of volgogradians retreat to the stadium hoping to find main force. 30 of daredevils remained before 120 rostov lads - they soon kissed the pavement. all recessives run to the stadium but 5 lads stay against dozens on mamayev kurgan - their hads were all smashed. near the stadium remains of volgograd mob in 80 persons try to stand against ~90 rostov guys, but after exchange of scanning they step back. 30 volgogradians stood waiting on the square before the stadium!, then rearguard of rostov lads appeared in equal numbers. both mobs group and hurl to each other: 'let's go fight, scums!' short skirmish happens which is ended by massive hunting of militia on hooligans. in total: derby is after rostov guys who appeared well-organised against slackness and laxity of volgograd mob...

Zenit StPetersburg - Crvena Zvezda Belgrade - 16/09/2004

Source : rus-hool website

Zenit hooligans thought a lot about: fight or not to fight with serbs hooligans from Delije.Everybody decided not to have troubles with slavs brothers, and only one firm -Coalition decided to have them with CZ hooligans. When CZ fans came out from the bus and went to the stadium,Coalition attacked them, but the special police-OMON stopped the incident very fast.It was the first and last fight between Zenit and Crvena Zvezda hooligans. In the sector of Zenit hools was burned the flag of Albania. Then they hang out the banner:"Russian and Serb-brothers forever! Kosovo is Serbia!".After the game the atmosphere between Zenit and CZ fans was very friendly...

Greece and Albania keep peace after fights - 09/09/2004

Source: The Star online

Greece and Albania keep peace after fights

ATHENS: Greece said that acts of violence following Albania's 2-1 win over European champion Greece last weekend will not damage relations between the two neighbours, Greece's foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

Greek Foreign Minister Petros Moliviatis received those assurances in a phone call from Albanian Foreign Minister Kastriot Ismali, the ministry said.

It said that Ismali, who will visit Athens for two days on Sept 15, told Moliviatis that “expressions of fanaticism must not be allowed to undermine good relations.”

Greek government spokesperson Theodoros Roussopoulos said that the two nations must show “understanding” and not respond to athletic events with violence.

“We are neighbours and we must live peacefully and harmoniously. Isolated incidents that are to blame on both sides must not be allowed to disturb the good relations between the two countries,” Roussopoulos said.

Greek and Albanian fans clashed in various incidents across the country after Saturday's match in Albania.

A Greek-American man from Chicago was arrested on Sunday on the Ionian island of Zakynthos after stabbing to death an Albanian man and critically injuring two others.

Blues football thugs are caged - 14/09/2004

Source: Liverpool Echo

PAIR of Everton FC thugs have been put behind bars for their part in a city centre pitched battle with Sunderland supporters.

After an investigation lasting three years, hooligans Mark Hughes and Alan Welsh are in jail for their part in the brawl.

They were seen on CCTV footage punching Sunderland fans in Great Charlotte Street hours after the two teams had played at Goodison Park.

After studying the film Merseyside police football intelligence officers identified them as two of the key offenders and launched an investigation to track them down.

Hughes and Welsh, both 29, pleaded guilty to affray during a hearing at Liverpool crown court.

Welsh, of West Street, St Helens, was jailed for eight months and Hughes, of Knowsley Heights, Huyton, was jailed for four months.

Both were given six-year banning orders which means they cannot go into any football stadiums for that period of time.

Merseyside police DC Ian Miller, from the force's football unit, said the convictions three years after the fighting showed how determined they were to catch hooligans.

He said: "Merseyside police have a very tough policy on football-related violence and we will catch those involved.

"This happened right in middle of the city centre and caused a lot of disturbance.

"The CCTV footage was studied and we picked out those people we wanted to arrest over what happened.

"We managed to identify these two men and they were then charged with affray and taken to court.

"Merseyside police will not just let things go and the jailing of Hughes and Welsh shows that."

The main player in the brawl has already been jailed after he was caught on CCTV clashing with Sunderland fans as he swung a sock weighted with a pool ball.

John Rowson, 37, of Bryanston Road, Aigburth, was jailed for 15 months at Liverpool crown court and given a six-year banning order after pleading guilty to violent disorder .
