| Ajax Amsterdam - NEC Nijmegen - 25/01/2004Source: Bron Nieuws.NLScuffles erutped at the Duivendrecht station, when approx 100 (other sources said 80) NEC lads arrived in Amsterdam. NEC fans tried to attack local lads who were there but police forces restored order. It seems NEC fans have to retreat one time....as locals. Source: post from VivaVaginaLast sunday was a bit of a remarkable day. NEC, a club known for having a more than decent hooligan following, were allowed to move freely into Amsterdam. As was to be expected, trouble came from this. Ajax and NEC groups would supposedly meet up at Duivendrecht station near the Arena stadium. However, it became clear that police forces were fully in the know. The station's entrances were blocked by several fans and officers when the Ajax group arrived. A few attempts were made to get through, but none succeeded. Ajax fans, told by police that NEC fans had already been sent back, walked away from the station but decided to have one more looksy. A few dozen Ajax crawled up the walls, over the fence and head for the railroad tracks. Here they could see a lot of riot police, with behind them the NEC group. Police on the scene reacted a bit passively, and made it possible for the two groups to cross the tracks and meet on one of the stations platforms. A short but heavy fight broke out where mostly umbrellas and stones were used for weapons. Boys were wounded on both sides, but not seriously. Ajax came out on top eventually, but NEC stood their ground for most of the time. After the fighting police arrested the NEC group, the Ajax group managed to get away without any arrests. Several weapons were found later on (knives, bats, umbrellas with sharp points etc). None of these 'heavier' weapons were used in the fights though. All in all a nice day. Too bad it does prove to the authorities that free transfer doesn't work. Ajax lads climbing the side of a railtunnel, leading up towards the platform where their NEC rivals await _________________ | |

Soccer fan stabbed during street battles
Source : local newspaper
A West Ham fan was stabbed in the neck after Wolves' 3-1 defeat at Molineux ended in violence.
Eight people were arrested after running battles broke out among rival supporters across Wolverhampton city centre following the passion-charged clash yesterday afternoon.
Police acting on intelligence heightened security to tackle hooliganism, with more than 200 officers deployed around the stadium and city centre to escort the estimated 4,500 travelling fans.
The victim was stabbed during a brawl outside the Moon Under Water pub in Lichfield Street, forcing bouncers to lock doors.
All Saints man Tony Leek, aged 42, who was in the pub at the time, told today of his terror as tempers flared outside.
"All of a sudden fans started running down Lichfield Street and I saw a man wearing a West Ham shirt with a knife," he said.
"One of the Wolves fans took it off him and he was stabbed in the neck. He collapsed on the ground and there was blood everywhere.
"It was really frightening."
Extra officers were drafted in with police motorcyclists, evidence gatherers, police dogs and the force helicopter out in force.
A 27-year-old Wolves fan, who asked not to be named, told how he saw around 30 police in riot gear gathered at the top of Lichfield Street.
"I asked what was going on but they told me to cross the road and walk down the opposite side because of an incident," he said.
"I saw some fighting outside the Moon Under Water earlier but no-one involved was wearing Wolves colours.
"I scarpered as fast as I could. It is disappointing after Wolves' good run that people should resort to violence after a defeat."
Supt Laurie Dyer, of Bilston Street police, said today that the injured fan had been taken to New Cross Hospital but his injury was not life-threatening.
He added that eight people had been arrested for minor public order offences, ranging from shouting to drunkenness _________________

| Football louts are sent to jailSource : BBC news Violence erupted in the centre of Bradford in JulySix football fans have been jailed after violence broke out on a Bradford street in the summer of 2003. Punches and kicks were thrown while tables and chairs were hurled in the rumpus on Ivegate during City's centenary football tournament in July. The men, from Leeds, Bradford, Grimsby and Aberdeen, were jailed for between three and five months at Bradford Magistrates' Court on Monday. The men all pleaded guilty to a charge of violent disorder. Guilty pleas All the defendants were issued with orders banning them from attending football matches for six years. The jailed men are: Mark B****, 34, of Lidget Green, Lidget Place, Bradford; Scott G*****, 33, of Colonsay Crescent, Sheddocksley, Aberdeen; Kenneth M*****, 31, of Hyefield Lodge, Hatton, Peterhead. Steven W***, 24, of Craignook Road, Dyce, Aberdeen and Brian Wright, 32, of Carnforth Crescent, Grimsby. Steven E***, 31, of Waterside Court, Rodley, Leeds also pleaded guilty to violent disorder. But he also admitted assaulting and resisting a police officer in a separate incident. John C******, 29, of Elm Bank Road, Aberdeen, was due to be sentenced for violent disorder, but he failed to attend the hearing and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. G*****, M*****, W*** and W***** were all jailed for three months. B**** and E*** were given four and fiver months respectively. District judge David Thomas told the men: "Bradford has suffered its share of violence in the past few years. "Whilst this incident clearly was not on the scale of those matters which took place two years ago or so, nonetheless it was a serious incident of public disorder. "The message must go out to people who choose to involve themselves in incidents of public disorder and vandalism of this sort - if they commit it inevitably custody will follow". In November eight Bradford men were jailed for their part in the clash. _________________ | |

| Coventry: Hooligan come back to city for love - 10/01/2004
Source: Coventry Telegraph
A Sky Blue football hooligan who fell in love with a Thai woman returned to Coventry to face the music so that he could settle in the city with his partner.
But Darren Dobbins, 29, will have to wait after being jailed for 2½ years at Coventry Crown Court yesterday.
Dobbins was involved in a pitched battle at Maine Road in 2001 after a fourth round FA Cup tie against Manchester City ended in a mass brawl inside the stadium.
He was also involved in fighting Leicester City fans after a game at Highfield Road in 2000, and later in kicking a defenceless man in the head in the city centre.
With charges hanging over him, Dobbins, of Raphael Close, in Whoberley, left the country last year for what was supposed to have been a three week holiday, but stayed after meeting a Thai girl.
He told Judge Christopher Hodson yesterday that he now wanted to make a clean breast of it so that eventually he could live with his partner in Coventry.
Dobbins admitted two counts of affray and one of violent disorder and was jailed, and also banned from every football ground for eight years.
The judge told Dobbins: “You are one of those hooligans who have given football a bad name, you display extreme violence and clearly enjoy a fight.
John Salmon, prosecuting, said the first offence happened after City played Leicester and a fight started outside the Sky Blue Tav-ern in Thackall Street.
He said: “Fans clashed and the Leicester supporters were effectively penned in and insulted by the Cov-entry fans, and there was considerable violence.”
Mr Salmon said Dobbins was caught on CCTV “taunting and gesticulating and trying to fight” and then he threw a rubber bollard at fans.
The second offence took place at Maine Road. Coventry City fans scaled a barrier and tried to get into the Manchester end.
Mr Salmon said: “The defendant was seen in the centre of a group of fans brawling with the home fans.
The final offence happened in Coventry city centre after Dobbins felt people had insulted girls he was with. Dobbins and friends viciou-sly attacked them. _________________

| Roda and AZ fans fought together - ??/01/2004
Source: post
about 60 Roda and AZ supporters fought each other in the Dutch southern town of Heerlen, nearby Kerkrade. Barstools and several other tools ripped from the surrounding area were used in the fight.
It is not known how many supporters were wounded in the fight, but two automobile drivers were wounded and hospitalized as their cars crashed, being distracted by the fights taking place on the road.
AZ supporters supposedly sent a message to Roda fans, telling their location. Last year in Alkmaar (AZ) fans of both teams were also involved in fights.
AZ fans were put in a bus and brought back to Alkmaar. Underway, close to the higway an emergency door was kicked out and several AZ supporters jumped out of the driving bus. They were arrested.
Also 20 Roda fans were arrested. _________________

| ADO Den Haag - Ajax Amsterdam - ??/01/2004
Source: post
This year's return edition of probably Holland's most feared fixture, ever since the big troubles at the 1987 Den Haag - Ajax game, stayed mostly calm. This was to be expected though, due to the great security measures.
Some minor troubles in A'dam city centre on saturday night, as Ajax youth gathered in the city for a night on town. You never know if Den Haag might come along. One policeman pulled his gun to chase a group of Ajax away, apart from that nothing really happened.
Sunday was all calm with impressive police forces and the well-known combi system. Den Haag fans did chase some 20-30 riot police from their section in a matter of seconds, but that was all the action A'dam saw.
All in all I don't think anyone actually expected trouble. Too much police, too big security measures. _________________

| Blackpool - Halifax: Two held after serious assault at cup match - 21/01/2004Source: http://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk TWO Halifax men were arrested in connection with a serious assault in Blackpool town centre ahead of a crunch football match. Police are also hunting another two men who are thought to have been involved in the attack which left a Blackpool supporter in hospital. The incident happened at 6.15 pm yesterday, before the northern section semi-final LDV Vans Trophy game between Blackpool and Halifax Town. Town crashed out of the competition in a 3-2 defeat. PC Paul Rawstron, of Blackpool Police, said four men were sitting on the injured man when police intervened. The man was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital by ambulance. PC Rawstron said a number of people were also turned away from the ground drunk but in general the Town fans were well behaved. "There were 942 away fans in the ground, which was higher than was anticipated," he said. "They were good local supporters. They did well to get behind their team. "It was quite a successful policing operation." PC Rawstron said the game, which attracted 4,764 supporters, was classed as a low risk Category A, in terms of policing numbers and he was unaware of any disturbance after the match. | |
