Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have confirmed two arrests were made outside Old Trafford on Thursday evening.

Hundreds of Manchester United fans gathered outside the club's stadium to once again protest against the ownership of the Glazer family.

Numbers were greatly reduced to those seen eleven days previously when a stadium invasion and hotel blockade forced the postponement of United's Premier League game with Liverpool.

Both teams made it to the stadium without much issue, and the game kicked off on time.

However, two arrests were made for public order offences.

Assistant Chief Constable for GMP, Chris Sykes, said: "We have been working closely with Manchester United and partners to ensure those in attendance outside the stadium are kept safe while exercising their right to a peaceful protest.

"The safety of all those concerned remains GMP's main priority.

"We encourage everyone to remember we are still living under restrictions due to the pandemic and have a collective responsibility to remain safe and protect one another.

"Enforcement remains our last resort, but anyone whose behaviour crosses the boundary into a criminal offence should expect to be prosecuted."

Meanwhile, a number of those protesting the billionaire owners of the club decided to spend their time mocking the poor.

Dozens of United fans, some holding 'Glazers Out' banners sang the derisory "Sign on, sign on" to the tune of You'll Never Walk Alone, which mocks the job situation on Merseyside.

As The Athletic's Simon Hughes observed, "A protest against billionaires by mocking poverty. WELL DONE, LADS. Well done."

Regarding the protests, former United defender Gary Neville told Sky Sports, "Let us be clear with what we are seeing (outside the stadium) which is effectively Manchester United turned into a prison.

"It's a devastating image for the club and its brand around the world. Let's note that.

"If you have to put prison walls outside your ground and have hundreds and hundreds of police officers at a game where fans aren't attending, something has gone badly wrong.

Hundreds of FC Zurich supporters tried to watch that game, climbing fences to enter the stadium.
Police forces intervened and were pelted with rocks, bottles and firecrackers so they responded with rubber bullets, water canon and tear gas.

Three police officers were injured and more than 20 arrests made after Rangers fans packed into the streets of Glasgow on Saturday to celebrate winning the Scottish Premiership with an unbeaten record.

Derby Roma-Lazio, clashes between fans and police in Ponte Milvio

Clashes before the derby. The Lazio fans had organized a demonstration at Ponte Milvio, close to the Curva Nord, to charge up in view of the derby with Roma. The appointment was for 15 and thousands of people poured into the square carrying scarves, flags and smoke bombs.

However, around 6 pm the situation began to degenerate. Following the throwing of some bottles, the police intervened by loading. The tension lasted several minutes, the charges extended for several hundred meters beyond the square of Ponte Milvio.

Supporters exchanged punches and some used knives.
Three people were wounded.

Ilioupoli supporters followed their team but when Panionos fans saw them, everything started and three people were wounded by knives. It also seems one gun was seen.

Before the confronttion Waalwijk is going to run. 3 guys stand their ground in their own city. They were beaten. St Truiden between 16-19 years old. The older generation from Waalwijk said this is too ridiculous for words from their own younger generation.

RKC view:

The story Sint-Truiden is not correct. 11vs11 was agreed. RKC was with 8 and Sin Truiden with at least 14 the gae was up to 19 years old agreed.
St Truiden came with people of 20+ when RKC said it was not the appointement and they started fighting a few of RKC have stopped, rest went running.
Older of RKC good idea that the younger ones ran away when a few boys of RKC were lying on the ground they stayed because of an unfair fight and not how it was agreed.

Skirmishes between TFC and Dunkerque supporters before the game

The fight erupted in front of the Marcel-Tribut Dunkerque stadium some hours before kick-off.
About twenty Toulouse supporters confronted northern supporters, in higher number said police.

As they greeted their players, TFC supporters were provoked by Dunkerque supporters.
Firecrackers and some punches were exchanged but police quickly intervened to disperse both sides.
Nobody was arrested.

Fan riot at Dresden second division return

Even before kick-off, the police had secured a large area around the stadium, as the police and the city feared a crowd of fans in front of the stadium. Although the club, like Dresden’s Mayor Dirk Hilbert (FDP), appealed to supporters not to come to the stadium and stay at home, hundreds of fans gathered around the venue before the game began.

A large number of policemen were called to calm the situation down when about thirty cars with Hansa Rostock supporters, who followed the bus of their players.
