Hooligans had a fight in downtown Bratislava - 10/07/2019
Source : https://spectator.sme.sk/
The incident took place on Ventúrska Street.
Hooligans were disturbing the peace in downtown Bratislava on the evening of July 10.
A video published by the ironic Facebook site Zomri captures a group of people who started a fight on Ventúrska Street.
"I can currently only confirm a breach of the peace by football fans on Ventúrska Street," Lucia Miháliková, spokesperson of the Bratislava regional police corps headquarters, told the Sme daily.
The police could not specify which football clubs the rowdies support. Bratislava hosted the first qualifying round of the Champions League between local Slovan Bratislava and Sutjeska Nikšić from Montenegro on July 10.
Sme wrote that the fight involved the fans of football clubs Cracovia Krakow and Ajax Amsterdam. The Hooligans.cz website wrote that the fight was between Krakow & Ajax Amsterdam and Levski Sofia. The teams play the matches on July 11.
The police detained at least 80 people, they wrote on Facebook.

Mother killed by out-of-control car in southern France and shops looted in Paris after Algeria fans celebrate win
An Algeria supporter celebrating his team's win lost control of his car and ran over a family in southern France overnight, killing a woman and seriously injuring her baby, a security official said.
The 21-year-old man was driving at high speed in the Mosson neighbourhood of southern city Montpellier on Thursday night, the official said, adding the driver had been taken into police custody.
The woman was walking with her one-year-old baby and 17-year-old daughter when the accident happened.
The baby suffered traumatic injuries and was rushed to hospital, said the official.
The 17-year-old had a slight ankle injury, the spokesman said.
"At the moment we are trying to determine the circumstances of this tragedy," the spokesman said, adding there were "lots of people in the streets" following Algeria's win over Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations which sent the team through to the semi-final.
In Paris two stores near the Champs-Elysees in Paris were looted, on the sidelines of celebrations marking the win.
Several thousand people gathered near the Arc de Triomphe, but as fans celebrated, a group smashed their way into two stores nearby, including a motorcycle shop, an AFP journalist said.
Dozens of people looted the stores, taking helmets, gloves and also motorcycles.
Police used tear gas to disperse the crowds and at least one person was arrested, the AFP journalist added.
Football fans traditionally gather at the Champs-Elysees to celebrate key football victories.
Tear gas was also used to control crowds of Algerian supporters who had gathered at the Old Port in Marseille.
In all some 74 fans were arrested across France as there were minor clashes in towns across the country that saw youths throw missiles at police.
Some 20 police officers were left slightly injured.
The country's Interior Minister Christophe Castaner condemned the trouble.
"The damage and incidents yesterday evening on the margins of the celebrations for Africa Cup of Nations 2019 are unacceptable," said Castaner.

Police investigating post-match violent incident
Police are investigating a violent incident following Hibs’ friendly match away at Carlisle on Tuesday night.
The Carlisle News and Star reports that the arrests were made later on at night in the city following the game.
Hibs came back from 3-1 down to win the match 4-3, with 1,065 away supporters making the journey to Cumbria.
The incident is reported to have happened around 9.30pm on Warwick Road as a group of Hibs fans headed towards Eldred Street.
The victim was with three other friends, wearing a white Elise t-shirt and a black jacket. One friend had blond hair and wore a bright green jacket.
"Anyone who witnessed this group of visiting supporters being attacked should please contact PC 2050 Black," said a police spokeswoman, urging witnesses to call 101 if they can help.
A public order offence is also investigated which happened around half-an-hour later.
A spokesman from Cumbria Police said: "We were called at about 10pm to the report of public order on Botchergate, Carlisle.
"A 26-year-old man from East Lothian was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and remains in police custody.
"A 49-year-old man from Edinburgh was arrested on on Cecil Street on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody."
Hibs face English opposition once more this pre-season when Newcastle Utd visit Easter Road at the end of July.

France : Celebrations marred by violence after Algeria's Africa Cup of Nations semi-final win
Fans took to the streets of Paris, Marseille and Lyon on Sunday to celebrate the Algerian national football team's victory over Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final but the festivities were marred by violence.
Scenes of joy descended into clashes between fans and police in the French cities of Paris, Lyon and Marseille.
Car horns and cries of joy rang out as supporters celebrated on Paris's Champs-Élysées.
By one o'clock on Monday morning, thousands of fans had gathered on the upper part of the avenue and the situation became tense.
Police used tear gas to break up the crowds. Some fans threw fireworks and other projectiles at police, others set fire to dustbins.
Police said 25 people were arrested.
Several vehicles were torched in Lyon, according to the city's fire department.
Local officials said police used tear gas to push back fans, who started throwing bottles and fireworks at them, in the city centre and in other surrounding neighbourhoods.
A police source said that some arrests were made.
Several people, amongst the thousands of fans gathered in the la Guillotière neighbourhood, were seen throwing bottles and fireworks at police, according to an AFP journalist.
Firefighters said that shortly before 2am on Monday a dozen or so vehicles were torched in Lyon's city centre and in other nearby neighbourhoods.
In Marseille, fans reportedly threw firecrackers and smokebombs at police as thousands descended on the port area for Bastille day fireworks.
Police blocked them from entering the port area and several arrests were made.
Security measures were reinforced for Sunday’s match, following deadly clashes and looting last Thursday after Algeria's match against Ivory Coast.

French police arrest 282 in unrest after Algeria football win
Police arrested 282 people around France in unrest on the margins of celebrations of the Algerian football team’s Africa Cup of Nations victory on Sunday evening, the government said Monday.
Celebrations erupted across France after Algeria beat Nigeria 2-1 to advance to the Africa Cup of Naitons final for the first time in 29 years.
In the capital, supporters gathered on the emblematic Champs-Elysees avenue, which early in the day had been the site of the annual Bastille Day military parade marking the French national holiday, as well as rioting by a small number of Yellow Vest protesters.
In several minutes, hundreds of cars and motorcycles gathered around the Arc de Triomphe monument and a dense crowd amassed on the sidewalks.
“I’m so proud of my country and my team,” said Imen, a supporter with an Algerian flag wrapped around his shoulders, who had watched the match on his telephone.
“I’m very, very happy, and it also happens to be the national holiday [of France], so there are fireworks, too.”
But in Paris as in Marseille and Lyon, the celebrations were partly tarnished by incidents including barricades and fires in garbage cans.
In Marseille, several people were detained after lighting fires and throwing projectiles after security forces blocked access to the city’s historic port.
The Interior Ministry said of the 282 arrests, 249 were still being held in custody.
It was not the first time celebrations have turned violent through the course of the tournament.
Fans went on the rampage looting shops in Paris on Thursday, following Algeria's victory over Cote d’Ivoire to reach the semi-finals.
The same day in Montpellier, a fan lost control of his car while travelling at a high speed and struck a family, killing a woman and seriously injuring her baby.
Paris and Marseille are home to large communities of Algerian origin, and football celebrations are occasionally a source of tensions.

]Italian police seize rocket launchers and assault rifles from 'Juventus ultras' but at least they weren't drinking on a bus - 16/07/2019
Source : https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/
Police in Italy have seized a huge cache of weapons from a neo-Nazi group linked to the Juventus ultras, but thankfully no evidence was found of anyone having been drinking on a football bus.
Police discovered banners of the Drughi ultras group in the skinhead Legio Subalpina centre in Turin, leading to further investigation of the hardcore fan group.
A raid in the city yesterday led to three arrests, and uncovered a stash of weapons including dozens of handguns, automatic rifles, armour-piercing bullets, and a surface to air missile used by the Qatari government.
Officers were relieved to find, however, that there was no evidence that any of the Drughi had been enjoying a beer while on their way to a football match.
"Sure, it was a shock to discover that kind of arsenal, not to mention all the neo-Nazi iconography," a source tells Football Scotland.

6 Months Imprisonment for 7 Hooligans who Attacked Bulgarian FC "Levski" Supporters in Bratislava - 17/07/2019
Source : https://www.novinite.com/
Police in Slovakia imposed sentences on the Krakow and Ajax fans. The hooligans will be in prison for 6 months after attacking Levski supporters last Wednesday in Bratislava. Four Dutchmen and three Poles will go behind bars. Sentences are final, Bulgarian newspaper “Trud” wrote.
"The court has decided to impose these sanctions on the accused, both in terms of the serious nature of their actions and as a general disincentive to the future," a court spokesman in Bratislava acknowledged. In addition, the Dutch and Poles are forbidden to attend sporting events in Slovakia within the next 3 years.
We recall that the serious fight took place in the centre of the Slovak capital Bratislava against fans of Krakowia and Ajax Amsterdam with supporters of the Bulgarian FC "Levski”. Rapid police intervention prevented more serious incidents.
Later, after it became clear that the detained Bulgarian supporters were not guilty, they were released.

Shocking brawl filmed at Manchester United v Leeds United game at Optus Stadium
Footage has emerged of a serious brawl between Manchester United and Leeds fans in the stands during Wednesday's match at Optus Stadium.
The fight began towards the end of the match - won by Manchester United 4-0 - as a crowd member tried to separate arguing rival fans.
A man in a Leeds top then knocked the Manchester United fan to the ground and began throwing punches while another man started kicking him.
As more people joined the brawl security guards and police swarmed in to separate the fans.
Manchester United fan Caitlin Rose witnessed the shocking fight and said it was started by Leeds fans who had come into her section looking for trouble.
“I personally wasn’t scared but quite a few others were and some ladies were screaming so much for police to come as it just escalated so quickly,” she said.
“Some people then left after the police came as it was near the end of the game.”
The intense rivalry between the two clubs is one of the fiercest in English football.
Hostility between the two sets of supporters boiled over into terrace violence in the 1970s and ’80s when hooliganism was rampant.
Rivalry between the clubs reached its peak in the 1960s when both achieved success under two of the best managers in the land, Matt Busby and Don Revie.
An FA Cup semi-final in 1965 was particularly vicious. Leeds, who enjoyed success in Europe, had a reputation as a very physical side.
Since Leeds was relegated from the Premier League in 2004, matches between the two sides have been few and far between. The Red Devils last defeated Leeds 3-0 in the League Cup in 2011. Leeds narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season.
WA Police said a small number of incidents resulted in the eviction of several people for disorderly behaviour.
“None of these incidents resulted in any criminal charges,” police said in a statement.
“A 29-year-old WA man was issued a move on notice for breaching the perimeter fence at the oval.
“He did not make it onto the actual playing area.”
The man will be charged by summons for trespass.

Chaos after Hajduk Split Drops Out of Europa League, What's Next ?
Hajduk fan group Torcida charged the pitch after the game and chased after Hajduk players before the police intervened. An incident in the West Stands also broke out, and dozens of seats were pulled from the North Stands and thrown onto the pitch. It was bound to be an ugly night in Split.
Hajduk coach Siniša Oreščanin made questionable decisions with the lineup on Thursday, as if the victory in Malta was enough to carry the team through so they could prepare for their first Croatian League match against Istria. What a mistake that was in the end.
At the Hajduk press conference after the game, which didn’t begin for nearly an hour after the final whistle blew, the Gzira coach - as well as 99% of journalists in the room - was in shock.
“I can’t believe we did this against a big club like Hajduk,” the Gzira coach expressed.
