| Pisa - Livorno - 23/03/2001
Source: Tifonet
They said it, and they did it! The Pisa firm has protested against the team management and players in the last few weeks, for the lack of results in the season which will probably see the local rivals of Livorno being promoted in 2nd div. The north end groups did promise that in any way Livorno won't have been going out of Pisa with a victory, and so it has been. As soon as Livorno scored their goal (on a doubtful penalty) at the beginning of the 2nd half, lots of flares were thrown on the pitch by both sides, the Livorno ones to celebrate the goal scored, the Pisa ones to delay the restart of the game. After a bit, a big banner has been shown from the Pisa end, saying "That's the support you deserve", and suddenly hundreds and hundreds of seats were uprooted and thrown onto the pitch, together with trashbins, coins, lighters and every kind of missiles. The linesman had to leave his place in order to not to be hit by them, and the ref was forced to halt the match. After half an hour, the ref tried to re-start the match, and after a few minutes Pisa had a penalty, which was missed. Again the protest flared like before, a Pisa player was hit by a seat and again the ref stopped the match. After a while the players tried to get back onto the pitch, but nothing had changed on the terraces, only now police were lined up on the pitch. At the third suspension, the ref declared the match definitely stopped. The disaster went on in the forecourt, as the Pisans battled with police for about two hours. The coach with the Livorno players, and the 2500 Livorno fans (which at their departure in Livorno were baton charged all thru the station for they tried to catch the train without tickets) were forced into the stadium 'till 19.30 as the streets around the ground were a proper battlefield. At the end of the day, 4 arrests were made, 40 people stopped and identified (ban on way!), and at least 70 were slightly injured. _________________

| Fermana - Ascoli - 23/03/2001
Source: Tifonet
Another local derby, another mess!... Before the game, about 400 Ascoli battled with police while trying to enter the ground without tickets shortly before kick off (they were allowed to enter about 15 mins after kick off). In the second half, after the Fermana 2nd goal, the Ascoli again destroyed some glass fences and the ground WCs. The Ascoli were angry also with their players, and at the end of the game about 20 of them entered the pitch in order to go and catch the players. At the end of the game, about 2500 Ascoli supporters on the way back from the stadium to the railway station forced the police fences and had it toe to toe with police and Fermana fans. Several cars and a small wood went on fire after being hit from flares, and many home and shop windows were smashed by stones and bricks. The coach with the Ascoli players was forced to stay inside the Fermo stadium for a long time before being allowed to depart, and as it arrived in Ascoli at about 01.00 am, still there was a crowd to wait for them, tension was very high. _________________

| Ancona - Pescara - 23/03/2001
Source: Tifonet
Both sets of fans repeatedly battled with Obs in order to get at the others, but police managed to keep them separa- ted. Arrests and bans will probably be made as the police will watch all the CCTV foootages. A small arsenal of iron and wood bars bottles and stones hads been found near the Ancona end after the match. _________________

| Peterborough United - Cambridge United - 31/03/2001
Source: local press
FANS CLASH MARS DERBY MATCH WIN POSH’S win in their big local derby against Cambridge was today marred after police revealed 10 football fans were arrested before, during and after the game. The city side were delighted to romp to a 4-1 victory against their local rivals, despite previous fears about the state of the pitch. But today, a cloud hung over the win, which put Peterborough United a step further from relegation, after police said 10 arrests had been made. More than 10,000 fans packed into the London Road ground to see the game, which manager Barry Fry dubbed the highlight of the season. But before the match even kicked off, fans of both sides taunted each other across the ground. Match day commander Chief Supt Dave Roberts, of Peterborough police, said: “A small number of people were arrested for public order related offences. The vast majority of fans though were well-behaved.” Ten people, both Posh and Cambridge fans, were arrested before, during and after the match. They were arrested for a variety of offences including pitch invasion and throwing missiles. All those arrested were men aged between 24 and 39. One man has been bailed to return to Thorpe Wood police station at a later date. A further nine have been chargedand will appear before Peterborough magistrates on April 3 and 5. An eye-witness at the game said: “A minute before kick-off, Posh fans and Cambridge fans tried to come together and were shouting abuse and taunting each other, but the police kept them apart. Then, five minutes into the game, some Posh fans were winding up the Cambridge fans. They were moved by police, who, I think, handled it well.” Today, Posh chairman Peter Boizot said: “I thought we had built up a friendly crowd, and I would be disappointed if any of our fans were involved in any trouble. I’d like to see fewer police at football matches and a friendly crowd, so it is disappointing when there are arrests.” _________________

| Coventry: Football Hooligans Arrested In Dawn Raids - 21/03/01
Source : CWN
Suspected football hooligans accused of lying in wait for away fans in Coventry were arrested by police today in a series of dawn raids across the city.
Police targeted 14 houses in the city along with two in Rugby following a number of incidents in Coventry city centre.
Charges are to be brought against those arrested and a special court session will be held in April to deal with the accused.
Extra officers from the West Midlands Police Operational Support Unit were drafted in to help with the co-ordinated raids.
Supt Mark Sheasby said:
”Those we are targeting are believed to have been causing serious trouble for some time.
“It is our belief they lie in wait for the fans of other clubs in various pubs and other places in the city centre, so that their attacks take place away from the football ground.
“We have evidence linking these people to these crimes and the time has come to carry out arrests.
“Our message is clear, we will not tolerate trouble in any of Coventry’s pubs, clubs or streets and we are determined to detect, deter and disrupt the disorderly behaviour of those who spoil things for the vast majority of the city’s law-abiding football fans.” _________________

| Coventry: More Arrested In Football Hooligan Squeeze - 22/03/01
Source : CWN
Police in Coventry have arrested another two men in connection with a crackdown on football hooliganism.
The men, both in their 20s, one from Rugby, and one from Willenhall in Coventry, have both been charged with violent disorder and are due to appear before Coventry magistrates today.
The charges relate to separate incidents in Coventry last year, the first on 4 November, when Manchester United were visiting, and the second on 10 December, when Leicester City were in town.
These two arrests bring to seven the number of people arrested in connection with the ongoing crackdown on football hooliganism in the city. _________________

| Ukraine - Belarus - 23/03/2001Source: Soccer Fans website A chat about these 2 matches was begun by Belarusian and Ukrainian hools last year. The hools of "DynamoMinsk,Belarus and Dynamo Kiev are the big rivals and both of sides knew about planned actions and prepared to possible fights. Also, its necessary to say that the city of Kiev was always considered to be very extreme and dangerous away for Minsk lads. Also, Belarus groups took the decision not to fight each other during these 2 days and if it will be necessary to unite against Ukrainian whose rival gangs had a peace during nation team matches. 100-105 fans (Dynamo Minsk ( 2 groups: BLUE WHITE GANG AND BLUE - WHITE PATRIOTS) 65-70 lads; BATE Borisov (Yellow-Blue Buzoters)-20; Dnepr Mogilev (River Lions)-about 10; DynamoBrest( Blue-White Devils)-5; Torpedo Minsk (group: Black-White Tornado)-3) came to the match of under 21 years teams. About 40 Belarusian hools and fans were walking on the streets of the city center seeking the rivals. About 25 Dynamo Kiev hools also looking for Belarusian. And one hour before the match these 2 mobs met up in the city center. Belarusian hools were going down the stairs to big and main Kiev street when they saw their enemies who (having been located beneath) waited for Belarusian lads. The number of Belarusian was about 40, Ukrainian 25, but about 20 hools from each side took part in the fights. But DynamoKiev hools had the weapons (stones, glass bottles, army belts with metal buckle).Belarusian came to Kiev without weapons because in Belarus champs the Dynamohools refused to use the weapons bearing in minds the Fair Play ideas. The clash lasted 3-4 minutes. Later Belarusian also threw some stones. In the fights both of sides tried to attack each other. After third Belarusian hools attack Ukrainian began to flee away. So, Belarusin won this battle , but because of using by Dynamo Kiev hools weapons at least 8Dynamo Minsk and BATE hools received serious head injures. And 1 BATE lad was departed to hospital with very heavy head injures. About 5 Dynamo Kiev hools were injured, but one of them(one of the leader) was taken to reanimation with very poor state of health. Soon, some police and ambulance cars came to the fight place. Some hools were arrested. Also some hools- who were given a help in the hospital were departed to police department. At the match there were about 80 Belarusian fans. BLUE WHITE GANG members lighted one smoke bomb and one firework. After that an incident between hools and police started. BATE hools organized this incident. Some lads were arrested. The special police operated cruel enough. After the match Belarusian fans were keeping by police at away sector about 30 minutes. Then a main police officer said on the microphone that 10 Belarusian hools were arrested and 8- Ukrainian and next day a Belarusian special police (that is well known with its cruelty) would come from Minsk to help keeping the order. Then police departed all Belarusian fans to 3 different hotels by special buses. Also police guarded the entries to these hotels till morning not allowing to Belarusian fans to go outside. The police also suggested to Belarusian to depart them by special buses to the national teams match to avoid the clashes, but they refused this suggestion. And there was an agreement that hools would spot at Chernigovskaya subway station and then they went to city center where about 200 Ukrainian fans (DynamoKiev- more than 100 fans,ChernomoretsOdessa-30, "MetallistCharkov-20, MetallurgZaporogie-5 and also some fans of DneprDnepropetrovsk (Dnepr hools are big rivals of DynamoMinsk), DesnaChernigov (3-d league), TavriaSimferopol, Karpaty Lvov) were seeking for Belarusian. Also 100 Ukrainian visited the railway station at the morning hoping to met up fans arriving on morning train Minsk- Kiev (by the way Kiev is 600 km away from Minsk). But the train wasnt in time and Ukrainian went away. About 90 lads came to Chernigovskaya subway station ( Dynamo Minsk- about 40, DynamoBrest 15, Dnepr Mogilev 10, BATE-10, Gomel Gomel (Green-White Front) 5, Torpedo Minsk 5, Shakhter Soligorsk -5). This mob moved to the city center. At the place near by Sport Palace (not far from stadium) there were a lot of locals(not hools). And after their provocation Belarusian ran to the locals mob. And this time from opposite side (from buildings corner) about 200 Ukrainian hools appeared. They ran to Belarus hools who were between aggressive locals and hools. Belarusian stopped immediately and re-grouped. And face-to-face fight started. Now both of sides used the weapons. Also, locals began to throw glass bottles and stones. Ukrainian hools also used it. Belarusian were forced back on 10 meters to the building of the Sport Palace. The battle lasted about 3-4 minutes. And riot police appeared soon. They began to force back Ukrainian from Belarusian. But locals and hools continued to throw the bottles and stones. The big windows of Sport Palace behind Belarusian lads spines were broken. More riot policing appeared. The cops attacked Belarusian and all the Belarusian hools were lying on the ground. Then police cars for prisoners came and 86 fans(among them about 65 Belarusian) were departed to different police departments (in each cars there were 20-25 fans). 250-290 fans (including arrested) came to Kiev to national teams match (( Dynamo Minsk- about 129-150, DynamoBrest 20-25, Dnepr Mogilev 28, BATE-25, Gomel Gomel (Green-White Front) 30, Torpedo Minsk 10-15, Shakhter Soligorsk -5, VedritchRetchitsa- about 7,NaftanNovopolotsk-3, SlaviaMozyr -3) + 1300-1500 Belarusian suppoters. At the match Belarusian lighted a huge smoke bomb. _________________ | |

| Norway - Poland - 24/03/2001Source: mail (thanks to the sender) On the ferry, Lechia Gdansk attacked Pogon Szczecin(friends of Legia). So Teddy Boys from Legia (about 40) wanted to take a revenge, and attacked Lechia Gdansk on the polish terrace in Oslo. But the attack was chaotic, and Lechia Gdansk have won. Legia wanted to take another revenge, and was looking for Lechia in the city (Lechia said they are in Oslo, tooled up). But no one was found, cause Lechia escaped from Oslo. But Legia spot them on the ferry, which was going back to Poland. So Legia attacked on the board, after Lechia had no ammunition (bottles, chairs), Legia completely battered first line of them, and rest of Lechia wanted a peace haha. Legia agreed, and wanted to fight in Swinoujscie (polish coast town). Lechia also agreed. But in Poland, OB spot Legia, and escorted them. Legia wanted to loose them in Szczecin. But they didnt maked it, and after few drinks in local night clubs, teddy boys have to go back to Warszawa, casue OB was pissed. | |

| Celtic fan jailed for life over stabbing - 02/03/2001
Source : Daily Record
A CELTIC fan who murdered a Rangers-supporting father-of-six after his club's 6-2 Old Firm victory was jailed for life yesterday.
Police traced Gary Rodgers after he left a hat - emblazoned with the words "Fighting Tims" - in victim James Hardie's house.
DNA testing of dandruff on the hat led to the Celtic season ticket holder being identified as the killer.
The High Court in Glasgow heard Rodgers, 30, had been at the SPL match in August last year while his victim had watched the match in a pub.
After the match, Rodgers returned home and was told by his father that Mr Hardie, 43, had allegedly made insulting remarks about his mother.
The court was told he went to Mr Hardie's house in Drumchapel,Glasgow, and attacked him with a knife.
The Rangers fan was slashed across the face and body several times and suffered the fatal blow after the knife entered his liver and cut an artery.
He died a few hours later in hospital.
A jury unanimously found Rodgers, of Drumry Road East, Drumchapel guilty of murder.
He was also found guilty of attempting to strike a 15-year-old girl with a knife.
Jailing Rodgers, Lord Nimmo Smith said: "We have not heard the whole story about your motive, but you had a grievance which left you to go to your victim's home.
"There you inflicted brutal and grievous and fatal injuries, leaving a widow and six children in grief."
