Chivas win over Atlas marred by sad scenes of fan violence
You would assume that a 4-1 quarterfinal victory over Atlas in the Estadio Jalisco would make Chivas fans ecstatic but the violent scenes in Guadalajara made the Liguilla semifinal berth bittersweet.
Atlas supporters reacted to the adversity and ran on to the field before others rushed over to their team's bench.
Just moments after Bravo's goal, a handful of fans ran on to the field. It was an unfortunate, but not too atypical occurrence in the Liga MX; that is until a couple of Atlas fans began to rush over to the bench.
Defender Luis Venegas jumped out, attempting to defend his side against the fans who were apparent supporters of the team.
Another small group of Atlas supporters pushed on to a barrier to make their way to the pitch, but were held back by police. Eventually more enforcement trickled its way into the section but it took several minutes for the irritated fans to either be calmed down or taken away by security.
The game was delayed for around 20 minutes and continued with a subdued sense of excitement. How could Atlas continue? The club had little motivation after conceding four goals and must have been even more distraught after their own fans rushed the bench.

APOEL Nicosia - AEL Limassol - Cup final - 20/05/2015
Source : http://cyprus-mail.com/
Fans charged over Cup final violence
Three Limassol men were charged on Thursday in connection with fan violence, which caused the temporary interruption of the Cyprus Cup final that took place in Larnaca.
The men, aged 19, 23, and 30, were arrested during the trouble that broke out on Wednesday at the GSZ stadium in the 6oth minute of the game between Nicosia side APOEL and AEL of Limassol. APOEL won the game 4-2.
The three pleaded not guilty to charges of rioting, assault, and swearing in public. The court adjourned until September 11.
In the meantime they have been banned from attending any sports events until the start of their trial.
They have been ordered to report to the nearest police station where they will remain for the duration of any game AEL play – be it football, basketball, volleyball or other.
The fans posted a €2,000 bail.
The trouble started after an hour of play when the Nicosia side scored their fourth goal.
AEL supporters occupying the main stand started hurling pieces of concrete broken off the terrace, flares, and plastic seats on the pitch. They also torched seats and caused other damage to the stadium.
The referee interrupted the game for around 45 minutes.
A police officer was treated in hospital for light injuries to the hand.
The game restarted just after 9pm after the AEL fans creating the trouble left the stadium following the intervention of the riot police. The three were arrested during this time.
During their departure, AEL fans lit fires outside the GSZ and the highway to Limassol.
The fire service had to scramble eight vehicles with 25 fire fighters to tackle 12 fires set by AEL fans.
At around 9.30pm, and while police were lined up in front of the APOEL stand, someone, possibly using a (flare) gun, fired a flare, which injured an officer who suffered slight burns to his throat.
Police rejected criticism about the way it handled the affair.
It was “tragic” to say the least, to blame the police for the antisocial behaviour of a large number of APOEL and AEL fans, spokesman Andreas Angelides said, responding to a statement from the Nicosia team.
APOEL censured the police for lining up the riot squad in front of their fans when it was the AEL supporters creating the trouble. The club described the force’s security plan as “tragic”.
It also charged that some officers returned the objects thrown at them, putting underage children and families in danger.
Angelides said officers were lined up in front of the stand because at one section the APOEL fans had opened a hole on the fence.
“They had no other choice but to line officers in front of the APOEL stand to prevent entry onto the pitch,” Angelides said.
Regarding the rest of the maters raised by APOEL, Angelides said the issue was being looked into.
“Police investigations continue with the aim of locating more people involved” in the violence, Angelides said.

Two Roma fans stabbed before Lazio clash
Violence is a common theme around the derby between the capital clubs and latest reports suggest two supporters have been hospitalised
Two Roma fans have been hospitalised after being stabbed outside the Stadio Olimpico ahead of their derby with Lazio , according to reports in Italy.
Fan violence surrounding the Rome derby is unfortunately a common feature as the two heated rivals go head-to-head on the pitch.
The two supporters were said to have been attacked before Monday's meeting at the Stadio Olimpico in what could prove to be a crucial match in the race for second place in Serie A.
The victims are reported to be at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, though the pair are not believed to be in critical condition.
So far, there has been no statements from the police, hospitals or either club on the matter, with respected news agency ANSA having confirmed the details.
This Rome derby promised to be even more intense than usual with a Giallorossi victory securing second place and guaranteeing a place in the group stage of next season's Champions League.
A victory for Lazio will allow them to leapfrog their bitter rivals from third place in Serie A.

Seven Boro fans arrested at Green Man pub after Wembley play-off final
Metropolitan Police say arrests were made for 'public order offences' after match :: Pub had been a popular pre-match spot
Seven Boro fans were arrested after an altercation at a pub near Wembley after the play-off final.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called to the Green Man pub, on Dagomar Road, close to Wembley Stadium, after the match.
A spokeswoman for the force said that seven arrests were made for public order offences, after Boro had been beaten 2-0 by Norwich City in the play-off showpiece.
The pub had been a popular meeting place for Boro fans before the game, with thousands passing through during the day.
The Met also confirmed that a further ten fans were arrested at Wembley Stadium before, during and after the final.
The spokeswoman said: “Details are still being processed, but at least ten fans were arrested at Wembley Stadium.
“We are unable to say whether they were Middlesbrough or Norwich fans.”
Police had designated 12 pre-match pubs, all at the West side of the stadium, exclusively for Boro fans.
Cleveland Police were unable to say if any arrests were made on Teesside after the game.

Galatasaray hooligans steal lion statue amid championship celebrations - 26/05/2015
Source: http://national.bgnnews.com/
A group of Galatasaray fans stole the statue of the club's symbolic lion statue from the training grounds where celebrations were held after the club was declared champions of the Turkish league.
After removing the statue, the fans proceeded to take the lion statue onto the Metrobüs, a transit bus line stretching from the European outskirts of the city to Asia. Photos of the statue on the Metrobüs flooded social media.
Galatasaray became champions of the Turkish domestic league, the SporToto Süper Lig, with one week left after Fenerbahçe failed to win Monday's encounter versus Başakşehir Belediyespor.
This is Galatasaray's 20th championship, which will mark their jersey with the illustrious 4th star, each symbolizing five championships.
The 2014-2015 was equally key for Fenerbahçe, who stood at 19 championships.
Galatasaray had defeated rivals Beşiktaş with a 2-0 victory on Sunday night.
