Manchester United U21's 4-0 win over rivals City marred by crowd violence as police arrest three at Old Trafford
Manchester United U21's 4-0 derby victory over rivals City at Old Trafford on Tuesday night was marred by crowd trouble as police were forced to make three arrests. An adult male and juvenile were arrested for assault while another juvenile was arrested for invading the pitch, Greater Manchester Police confirmed. Supporters were offered free entry and a crowd of just under 17,000 arrived to watch Warren Joyce's title contenders triumph 4-0.
However, things turned ugly when United scored their third goal, with around a quarter of an hour to go, as punches were thrown in the stands. Reports claim the initial flashpoint occurred in a cordoned off area of the Sir Alex Ferguson stand that separated City fans from United.
Stewards rushed in to eject the trouble-makers but, just moments later, United fans in a section to the right of the City fans charged towards the visitors. The trouble even continued after the final whistle and police wearing padded protection were seen running towards the players tunnel amid reports of problems outside.
United said in a statement on Wednesday: "There was a minor incident at last night's under-21 game across segregation lines from a small number of fans, after United scored the third goal. Stewards resolved the matter quickly. The fans that have been identified will be dealt through the usual channels. "The club worked with Manchester City in advance to make sure segregation was effective. Police reported some minor disturbances outside the ground after the match." The diagraceful scenes sadly detracted from what was an impressive performance by United's youngsters.

Some PSG fans banned from attending French league match - 13/05/2015
Source : https://uk.news.yahoo.com/
Paris Saint-Germain fans traveling without tickets issued by the club have been banned from attending this weekend's French league game at Montpellier because of the risk of violence between hooligans. Montpellier and PSG fans have a long history of violence. In 2009, a PSG supporter lost an eye after being hit by a beer can during fights outside La Mosson Stadium. The top government official in Montpellier issued a stadium ban for ticketless PSG supporters ahead of Saturday's match, PSG said on Wednesday. Its fans also won't be allowed to gather near the stadium. With two league rounds left, PSG can claim a third straight title if it manages a draw on Saturday. Since Qatari investors took over in 2011, PSG officials have tried to eradicate the longtime influence of violent fans' groups, most of which have been dissolved. They also convinced the French government to establish a controversial list of supporters to watch in order to prevent violence at the club's matches. The interior ministry's decision was, however, suspended by France's highest administrative court on Wednesday after the Human Rights League and a group fighting for football fans' rights took the case to the Council of State. The court ruled "there is a serious doubt" surrounding the legality of such a list, and said it will issue a final decision within months.

Boca Libertadores - River PLate - Copa Libertadores - 15/05/2015
Source : http://www.bbc.com/
Copa Libertadores tie abandoned
Four River Plate players have been taken to hospital after being sprayed with an irritant by Boca Juniors fans in an abandoned Copa Libertadores tie.
The last-16 second leg in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was called off at 0-0 after the players were attacked as they came out of the tunnel after half-time. River manager Marcelo Gallardo described the scenes at Boca's La Bombonera stadium as "deplorable". Boca president Daniel Angelici said: "We will do all we can to help police." Fans managed to get through high wire fencing and on to the pitch.
Television pictures showed River players Leonardo Ponzio and Leonel Vangioni rubbing their eyes, with other players pouring water over their faces after apparently being sprayed with a pepper spray-like substance. "I can't see, I can't see. I am burning. This is not a war," said River Plate defender Ramiro Funes Mori during chaotic scenes as the match was halted. All three players, along with team-mate Matias Kranevitter, were taken to hospital for treatment for what Argentine radio described as burns. Angelici said his club would "accept responsibility" for the incident but added Boca's players should not be punished for what he said was "society's problem, not football's problem". "These people are sick," he added. "An aerosol is small, it is very powerful. It can fit in your pocket and when there are almost 50,000 people it can get by security." South American football's governing body Conmebol said its disciplinary committee has started disciplinary proceedings against Boca and given the club until Saturday to respond. The association still has to decide whether to replay the match, complete it at a neutral venue, or award the tie to River, who were 1-0 up from the first leg on 7 May.

Football hooligans cause mayhem in London in glass and bottle attack on rival fans and bystanders - 16/05/2015
Source : http://www.mirror.co.uk/
One man was left with blood pouring from his head after a group of around 20 savage thugs set upon members of the public.
Three people were arrested tonight when football hooligans went on the attack armed with bottles and glasses.
One man was left with blood pouring from his head after a group of around 20 thugs set upon rival fans and bystanders.
The victim's head injuries are not considered life threatening or life changing.
Small children were believed to be among the victims punched and kicked by the mob who “steamed” in near King's Cross station in central London.
Some eyewitnesses claimed the hooligans were Everton fans and that Newcastle United and Hull City supporters were among the victims, but the Met Police or British Transport Police have so far been unable to confirm this.
All three clubs were playing away Premier League games in London at West Ham, Queen's Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.
Two arrests were made on suspicion of affray and a third for grievous bodily harm after police were called at just after 6.40pm.
The landlord of The Millers pub in Caledonian Road, told Mirror Online he was forced to lock doors to keep the thugs out.
He said: “A crowd of Everton supporters have been involved in fighting up on Euston Road and then they made their way down here and started attacking people.
“They just steamed in and had bottles and glasses in their hands. There were a couple of children out there but that did not seem to stop them.”
Pictures taken by passers-by and posted to social networks show police cordons outside the pub and someone receiving care from paramedics.
The Millers landlord, who asked not to be named, added: “I saw a lot of people with bloody noses and cuts to their heads. It was just choking the level of violence.
“They weren’t even targeting other football fans, but innocent people just passing by or standing outside drinking.
“These hooligans attacked anyone. They were kicking them and punching them.
“It was a thoroughly nasty and shocking attack.”
Online football forums were also packed with people talking about the brutal attack, that left the pavements covered in shattered glass.

Norwich City - Ipswich Town - Playoff - 16/05/2015
Source : http://www.eadt.co.uk/
About 2,000 Ipswich Town supporters travelled to Norwich for the crucial Carrow Road match which ended with a gutting 3-1 defeat for the Blues.
A 49-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested in connection with a breach of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.
A 30-year-old man from Norwich was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and is being questioned at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre.
A 24-year-old from Lowestoft was arrested in connection with drinking in view of the pitch and was subsequently given a caution.
After the match, police put cordons in place around the stadium to ensure fans could move safely from the ground and begin their journeys home.
Match-day policing commander, Chief Superintendent Nick Davison, said: “I am very pleased to say that overall, the atmosphere at today’s match was lively, but good natured.
“Extensive planning went into the policing operation, which was firm in places, with a significant presence of officers. This was necessary to ensure supporters enjoyed the game and to cause the minimum impact possible on other members of the public in the area. I am very pleased to say that the operation was carried out as planned with supporters enjoying a fantastic atmosphere.”
After the final whistle blew, some fans went onto the pitch, with Thames Valley officers mounted on horses used to defuse the situation.
Chf Supt Davison said: “A number of supporters, however behaved unacceptably by coming onto the pitch after full time, which was disappointing.
“Cordons were put in place to ensure the safety of those attending before and after the match and I would like to thank the supporters and motorists for their co-operation during this time.”
Norfolk Police have thanked counterparts in Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and British Transport Police for their assistance as well as other partner agencies involved in the operation.
They said the Thames Valley Mounted Officers and their horses played a very important role in preventing disorder and were specially thanked. There were five arrests at the first leg at Portman Road, which ended 1-1 after Paul Anderson’s equaliser for Ipswich cancelled out Jonny Howson’s opener for Norwich.

Melbourne Victory mob attacks opposition at CBD bar
Capsicum spray was needed to break up brawling soccer fans at Federation Square after Sunday night's A-League final.
About 40 Melbourne Victory fans descended upon Sydney FC supporters who were drowning their sorrows at Beer DeLuxe about 8pm.
No serious injuries were reported, but two men were arrested and charged with causing riotous behaviour.
The bar brawl was the most serious of a handful of incidents in the city after the grand final.
Police praised soccer fans for their behaviour inside the stadium during Victory's 3-0 victory, during which 21 people were ejected.
But flares before the game and the post-match incidents showed police that cultural issues remain.
"Any time a person is sprayed by a police officer in a physical confrontation is pretty serious," Commander Brett Guerin, who was in charge of the police response, told Neil Mitchell.
"The minority with the soccer is a really hardcore problematic group."
