PAOK won its second Greek Cup in handball beating AEK 29-27 in Sunday’s final in Thessaloniki, but the clashes between AEK fans and the police as well as the exchange of lethal flares between the two sets of fans and their clash the day before illustrated that Greek hooligans do not need soccer or basketball games to wreak havoc on any given Sunday.
The match was twice abandoned “definitively”, but the game’s authorities changed their mind as many times and eventually allowed the final to go ahead from the 17th minute when the referees had called for the evacuation of the stands.
At least five AEK fans were injured in the effort of the police to contain the 1,000 supporters of the Athens club who were eager to face off with those of PAOK. Both sets hurled flares against one another that could have easily killed someone in the indoor arena.
On Saturday AEK and PAOK fans clashed at Stavroupoli, an area of Thessaloniki, with six people reported injured.

UEFA open disciplinary proceedings against Montenegro and Russian FAs - 29/03/2015
Source : http://www1.skysports.com/
UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Montenegrin and Russian Football Associations following their ill-fated European Qualifier on Friday that was abandoned due to crowd trouble.
Russia goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was struck by a lit flare thrown from the crowd within a minute of kick-off in Podgorica, causing the match to be suspended for around half an hour.
Play resumed but trouble then erupted between the players in the second half after Russia's Roman Shirokov missed a penalty with the score at 0-0. With further objects coming from the stands, both teams left the field with German referee Deniz Aytekin calling the game off after 67 minutes.
Akinfeev was treated in a local hospital after the early incident, but the 28-year-old was able to travel back to Moscow with his team-mates later in the evening.
UEFA announced in a statement: "Disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the Football Association of Montenegro (FSCG) for the setting off and throwing of fireworks and objects by their spectators and for holding a match that did not get played in full.
"Proceedings have also been opened against the Football Union of Russia (RFS) for the setting off/throwing of fireworks and objects by their spectators.
"A protest has also been filed by the RFS and disciplinary proceedings have been opened."
Russia and Montenegro are currently third and fourth respectively in Group G, both on five points.

Argentina : Arsenal Sarandi - Aldovisi - 30/03/2015
Crowd disturbances halt Arsenal's Primera clash with Aldosivi
Arsenal de Sarandí were trailing 1-0 at home to Aldosivi when the teams' Primera División clash was suspended after 30 minutes, due to serious disturbances outside the Estadio Julio Humberto Grondona this evening.
Referee Ariel Penel halted play on the half hour when fighting broke out between rival factions of the Arsenal 'barra brava' hooligan grouping. Video footage showed fans throwing stones at a police squad car and smashing the windscreen in the streets surrounding the stadium.
The two sides stayed on the pitch briefly while Penel consulted with authorities, but the game was postponed definitely when the chief of the police operation admitted that he could not guarantee security.
Diego Lagos had scored the only goal of the game at the time of the referee's intervention, with 23 minutes played.

Celtic fined £9,500 by UEFA following Europa League clash in Italy with Inter Milan - 23/03/2015
Source : http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/
PARKHEAD club unhappy after being punished over fans using flares and 'improper conduct' on the pitch.
CELTIC have been hit with UEFA fines totalling just under £9,500 following last month's Europa League tie against Inter Milan in the San Siro.
The Parkhead club were given a penalty of £5,860 for 'improper conduct' on the field after Virgil van Dijk was sent off for two bookable offences, while another five players were booked in the 1-0 defeat.
The club were also hit with a £3,600 fine for flares being set off by fans in the stadium during the match.
These UEFA fines come on the back of the Glasgow side being fined £7,000 following crowd disturbances during their Europa League match against Dinamo Zagreb earlier in the year.
A club statement said today: "Clearly Celtic Football Club is disappointed by today's decisions. It should be noted that Celtic players have an excellent disciplinary record in European football over many years and in Scotland, Celtic has been top of the League's disciplinary table for the last three years, something which we are rightly proud of.
"Again, it is disappointing that the actions of one or two individuals within a support of well over 3,000, have let the club down by using flares at this match.
"Inter Milan and the local Italian authorities applauded our fans for their excellent conduct and positive support. Once again, however, the actions of these individuals have done nothing but damage the club they claim to support.
"Our fans have earned a wonderful reputation for their magnificent support of the club and we will not allow the safety of our fans, or their great reputation to be compromised by actions of this tiny minority."

Young garda attacked by fans at Ireland v poland match
A YOUNG garda was attacked by Polish football hooligans at the Republic of Ireland Euro 2016 match on Sunday.
The officer, who is based at Irishtown Garda Station, was on duty in the away section of the Aviva Stadium when the incident occurred during the Irish teams 1-1 draw with Poland.
It’s believed that the Garda spotted a fan lighting a flare and confronted them.
He was then dragged into the crowd and received a savage beating.
The garda was thrown to the ground and repeatedly punched in the head, according to a report in the Irish Sun.
A source said he was “lucky” that he didn’t suffer a serious injury.
Ahead of the match there were fears that Polish neo-Nazi skinhead gangs would cause trouble.
Gardai were concerned at the links between them and their British counterparts, Combat 18, who were behind the infamous 1995 riot at the Lansdowne Road venue in which 20 people were injured.
There is no suggestion that the attack on the garda was linked to such groups and, aside from that incident, the match went off peacefully.
The draw – secured by a goal from Shane Long in the dying minutes of the game – means that Ireland are still in with a chance of qualifying for next year’s tournament in France.
