Cardiff City supporters to be investigated by police after 'antisocial behaviour' at Huish Park
CARDIFF City supporters who were ejected from Huish Park during a friendly with Yeovil Town on Sunday for 'antisocial behaviour' are being investigated by police.
Officers in Yeovil are liaising with football intelligence officers at South Wales Police after a number of its fans were kicked out of the ground for damaging seats and a wheelchair shelter.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman confirmed that CCTV footage has also been passed on to South Wales Police.
Some Cardiff fans left voluntarily when it became apparent they would be ejected and one man was refused entry to the ground for being intoxicated.
Eye-witnesses reported that a section of Cardiff fans were unruly throughout the game, directing abusive songs towards the home supporters and stewards and making a number of anti-English chants. No arrests were made on the day.
A spokesman for Yeovil Town Football Club said: “We would like to stress that the trouble was caused by a minority of the Cardiff support.
“We ejected five Cardiff fans for their poor behaviour and we liaised closely with Avon and Somerset Police. Our stewards and staff did very well to manage the situation.
“The behaviour was disappointing, particularly at a friendly game and it took the shine off the day a little. A minority of fans did not come to watch a game of football.”
