Violence mars derby clash
Hooliganism once again reared its ugly head at yesterday’s FCK-Brøndby game
The 58th match of the Super League’s fiercest football rivalry, FC Copenhagen versus Brøndby, offered more of the same as many of the two clubs’ recent meetings – entertaining football and hooligan violence.
FCK won yesterday’s match at Parken 2-0 thanks to two goals from Brazilian forward Cesar Santín. But it was the off-pitch activity that ended up taking the headlines, as 35 Brøndby-supporting hooligans were arrested at the stadium.
Using roman candles, the hooligans set fire to stadium seats, threw fireworks onto the pitch during the match, and fought with the police.
‘I’m afraid these people don’t care one bit about our club or our fans,’ Ole Palmå, Brøndby’s managing director, told public broadcaster DR. ‘I hope we’ve got video evidence so that they can be identified and prosecuted.’

But before a jury could be sworn in, all 15 pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of violent disorder.

Judge Beatrice Bolton adjourned the case until October 8, and ordered pre-sentence reports on each defendant.

David Moyes accuses Brentford fan of throwing bottle
Everton manager David Moyes has accused a fan of throwing a bottle into his side's supporters after their Carling Cup third-round loss at Brentford.
The Merseysiders were beaten 4-3 on penalties at Griffin Park and Moyes said: "I thought it was terrible. I saw a fan throw a bottle into our fans.
"I said to him 'I saw your face. I saw who you were'.
Everton are second from bottom in the Premier League and are still searching for their first win of the season.
"He got a bottle and went right up and threw it right into the middle of our group of supporters."
He added: "If the police want me to follow it up and try to find the individual that threw the bottle into the crowd then that would be fine by me, it wouldn't be a problem.
"I didn't grab him. I wanted to but obviously that would have brought more attention to the situation."

Police inquiry after Notts County football fans are attacked after Wolves game
POLICE have launched an inquiry after Midland football fans were ambushed by brick-throwing yobs following a Carling Cup clash.
Three coaches containing Notts Country fans were attacked as they headed home following their side’s 4-2 Cup defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night.
The violence followed an incident where former Albion star Lee Hughes taunted supporters with a Baggies T-shirt.
After scoring his opening goal, he lifted his shirt to reveal an undershirt carrying the Baggies’ “boing boing” slogan.
Police have said they will speak to Wolves about Hughes’s gesture.
One passenger, a 78-year-old woman, had to be treated at hospital for facial injuries caused by broken glass.
It is estimated the damage totalled about £6,000 as the coaches were attacked at 10.50pm as they headed out of Wolverhampton city centre.
West Midlands Police said the match itself was a non-police match and was a club steward only fixture, which had been agreed beforehand.

Aldershot 'fan' given football banning order - 24/09/2010
Source : gethampshire.co.uk/news/
AN ALDERSHOT football fan convicted for his involvement in a pre-match punch-up has been banned from attending games for three years.
Grant Smith, 23, of Copse Avenue, Farnham, was given a year-long community order and a three-year football banning order for his part in a fight between rival fans before the match against Southend United on August 14.
Smith, an unemployed father-of-one, was caught on CCTV confronting visiting fans and throwing punches before police intervened, Aldershot magistrates heard on Thursday.
He admitted public disorder, but his solicitor Christopher Hogg said he was not a regular Shots fan and had only been planning to watch the game that day with friends who were supporters of the club.
Magistrates gave him a three-year football banning order, which restricts his movements on days when Aldershot Town are playing at home or away, and will force him to give his passport to police when the England team plays abroad.
He was also given a one-year community order, under which he will be electronically tagged for three months, forcing him to stay at home on specific days of the week, and told to complete probation courses in thinking skills and alcohol awareness.
Speaking after the sentence, PC Stuart Dickerson, from the Hampshire police football unit, said the ban sent out a strong message to football supporters intent on causing fights.
“This incident happened beside a young woman pushing a baby,” he said.
“We want to cut this sort of thing out from our town centres, and this ban will help prevent this from happening again.”

Cardiff City : Football yobs given match bans - 25/09/2010
Source : swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/
EIGHT Cardiff City fans who clashed with Swindon Town supporters in the town centre were banned from football matches for five years in court yesterday.
The hooligans were given football banning orders at Swindon Crown Court for their involvement in a brawl following a friendly game at the County Ground.
Ten Town fans were given bans ranging from three to five years, as well as community work totaling 2,400 hours, after pleading guilty to affray.
The court heard the riot – which took place on the evening of July 25, 2009 – started when a group of City supporters moved into the town centre from a pub near the train station in search of cheaper drinks.
They confronted a group of Town fans in the pedestrianised area of the town and a 15-minute riot ensued. CCTV evidence was shown to the court.
Steven Harding pushed, grappled and punched a Swindon fan, repeatedly punched two Swindon fans, and charged at a group of Swindon fans.
Jordan Gurner, who had stripped to his waist and wrapped a belt around his fist, was seen kicking and punching.
Dominic Towell punched another man and dragged an advertising sign along the floor.
Michael Grainger, Lee Evans, David Blacker and Antonia Temple all threw punches.
A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also arrested after being seen chanting.
Tessa Higston, prosecuting, said: “A number of witnesses made statements explaining their fear and alarm at what was going on, including the police officers who found it a very intimidating situation.
“Owners of business premises removed all their street furniture and barricaded them inside to protect themselves.”
She said the eight Cardiff fans told interviewing officers afterwards that they were defending themselves.
All eight Cardiff fans pleaded guilty to affray.
In their defence, the judge was given character references. Lawyers also said the men had entered early guilty pleas, were hard-working and were remorseful.
Summing up, Judge Euan Ambrose said: “There were members of the public present, it was a quiet Saturday afternoon in the high summer.
“For all those present it was a frightening experience.”
All the adults, except for the boy, were also each given 300 hours’ unpaid work and most, including the boy, were given curfews as well.
Det Cons Liz Coles, from Swindon CID, said: “We will continue to clamp down on hooliganism like this to help ensure members of our communities and visitors alike can enjoy Swindon safely.”
Banning orders were made against: Darryl Pearce, 43, of Beresford Close; Liam Popowicz, 27, of Cleyfields, Bourton; Ricky Gabb, 31, of Fyne Close, Sparcells; Richard Brinsdon, 40, of Argyle Street, Gorse Hill; Terry Southey, 41, of Ashbury Avenue; Samuel Baker, 22, of Clanfield Road, Park North; Kevin Pike, 38, of Cleyfields, Bourton; Mark Stratford, 42, of Morse Street; David Parmenter, 24, of Windmill Piece, Chiseldon; Jordan Gurner, 19, of Glyn Collen, Llanbradach; Lee Evans, 27, of King Street, Abertridwr; Michael Grainger, 22, of Tenby Court, Caerphilly; Steven Harding, 28, of Wedgewood Court, Caerphilly; Antonio Temple, 32, of Middle Street, Pontypridd; Dominic Towell, 29, of Castle Park, Caerphilly; Allan Woodmand, 30, of Hurst Crescent, Swindon; David Blacker, 39, of High Street, Ynysbwl, Pontypridd.
