Bottle thrown at Blackburn's El-Hadji Diouf after he goads Manchester City fans
Controversial Blackburn forward El-Hadji Diouf had a bottle thrown at him by incensed Manchester City fans as he blew kisses towards them and celebrated an unlikely 1-1 draw for his team at Eastlands.
Diouf, a hate figure for opposition fans wherever he goes, refused to hide his feelings after Blackburn’s creditable draw, stripping down to his shorts and waving with delight at City fans as he walked off.
His behaviour earned a chorus of boos from City fans and a bottle was hurled at him and picked up by team-mate Pascal Chimbonda.
Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation. No player was hit and there were no reports of any injuries. The bottle has been seized by police and an investigation is under way.
The pair then continued to celebrate all the way to the tunnel, lifting their arms up in triumph towards the City fans, with Senegal international Diouf blowing kisses until a policeman came over and hurried him along.
Diouf, who was involved in a row with City’s James Milner over a diving incident late in the game, has been a controversial figure since being signed by Liverpool in 2002.
He was fined £5,000 for spitting at a Celtic fan during a UEFA Cup game against Liverpool but went on to rescue his career under Sam Allardyce at Bolton and Blackburn.

Some arrests were made. Police escorted them to the stadium to avoid locals. During the game everything was calm but one local was arrested after he threw a bottle and one Lautern fan because he used a firecracker. After the game police tried to contain away fans but some skirmishes erupted between small mobs from both sides, especially near the train station where police pushed away a mob of 100 locals.

Europa match in Ukraine sparks fan violence
Borussia Dortmund fans clashed with Ukrainian supporters and police before and after Thursday evening's Europa League fixture in Lviv, news reports said on Friday.
According to some reports, hundreds of Borussia fans provoked a fight with Karpaty Lviv supporters in the centre of Lviv's old town. After the game, fans of the German club threw glasses and bottles in clashes with police.
But the Lvivsky Portal news website identified Karpaty fans as the culprits. Some 1 000 Ukrainians allegedly assaulted "several hundred" Germans sitting at central Lviv cafes, forcing the Borussia fans to use bottles and chairs to defend themselves, it said.
Police also used force to separate a group of German and Ukrainian fans brawling near Lviv's Taras Shevchenko memorial some two hours before the match, according to the report.

Millwall FC - Watford - 18/09/2010

Millwall set to ban assaulted pitch invader for life
• Fan chased Watford's Lloyd Doyley around the pitch • Supporter then assaulted by another Millwall fan
Millwall intend to ban for life the fan who chased Watford's Lloyd Doyley around the pitch yesterday during the team's 6-1 thrashing. Another Lions supporter has been arrested for attacking the pitch invader.
The first fan, a 22-year-old member of the armed services, ran on the New Den pitch and pursued right-back Doyley, who ran in the opposite direction before the supporter was bundled off the pitch by a steward and Millwall striker Neil Harris. The man then scuffled with security staff and other Millwall fans, including a 41-year-old who appeared to hit him and has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
Millwall said the first fan has also been arrested, and is expected to be charged with entering the field of play.
The incidents happened shortly before half-time, 11 minutes after Doyley had been booked for a late tackle. Millwall were losing 2-0 at the time and the final scoreline equalled Watford's record away win. It was Millwall's biggest defeat since 2002.
In another incident that, along with the others, will be drawn to the FA's attention, a Millwall fan hurled a bottle at Watford goalkeeper Scott Loach.
The Millwall safety officer, Ken Chapman, said: "The fan who came on to the pitch has been banned for five years instantly and it will quite likely be longer through the courts. The second fan, who was one of two people who hit the first fan, has been arrested on suspicion of assault."

Blitz on Exeter City hooligans welcomed by fans - 18/09/2010
Source : thisisexeter.co.uk
EXETER City supporters have welcomed action by police to drive out football hooliganism in the city.
Their comments come as more people are arrested in connection with a mass daytime brawl in Exeter city centre between rival fans.
As previously reported in the Echo, six suspected football hooligans were arrested earlier in the week as part of a major investigation into organised violence in the city.
A further three men have now been brought into police custody and will face questioning about the incident.
The clash, which happened prior to the Grecian's match against Huddesfield on Saturday, May 8, involved several Exeter City supporters, three Huddlesfield fans and one Plymouth Argyle supporter.
Scores of officers descended on addresses across Exeter and Exmouth as part of Operation Goalpost.
They seized mobile phones, laptops and clothing. Police said the items may be used in evidence for any future prosecutions.
The operation, led by the force's football intelligence unit, is the biggest of its kind for some time.
And police said they are still seeking further individuals in connection with the brawl.
Chairman of Exeter City Supporters' Club, Roger Hamilton-Kendall, said football hooligans "tarnish" the reputation of Exeter City.
He told the Echo: "These individuals can't be called supporters because they bring down the name of Exeter City Football Club and tarnish the reputation of the club by their actions whether they attend the game or not.
"We don't want that sort of trouble at the football ground or in the city centre.
"The club has a high level of policing and stewarding and we don't want that bill to increase so any action taken by the police to cut out such incidents is welcomed."
Police are expected to seek football banning orders for the individuals — barring them from attending future matches for a minimum of three years.
Mr Hamilton-Kendall added: "If these individuals are found to be guilty of being involved in organised violent disorder then we would welcome football banning orders preventing them for attending future matches."
Inspector Steve Bickley, leading the operation, said: "Exeter supporters who are deemed to be a risk have been causing some problems in the last couple of seasons.
"We want to get control of the risk group and obtain banning orders in respect of them and bring their behaviour under control.
"Not only do these incidents of violent disorder affect football, it also affects the city centre."
