West Ham - Everton FC - Cup (match played à Villa Park) - ??/??/??
Source: West Ham lad + Villa lad
Before the game a large group of villa appeared at the top of the the grass bank and started throwing bricks and bottles. We got taken by suprise , fair play to them, and then we launched a attack at them and had a toe to toe before broke it up. I think Villa attacked because we had beaten them in the quarter finals with a dodgy penatly and had a few battles with them at up including a few west ham being in the south bank and having a go, also most of there coach windows being put through.
On the day of the Semi, Were you or any of your pals with that firm of west ham that came across a group of us (Villa mainly steamers and c crew) in the town on the park behind Rackhams/Colmore Row area...... We were all sitting around enjoying the weather when your lot appeared, you all thought we were West Ham as you walked towards us and got the shock of your lives when we all stood up and introduced ourselves. Never seen so many green flight jackets scatter as quick in me life.
But like Villa 68 and others have said that day was just a way of returning the hospitality shown to us on our trip to UP in the quater final....I know a lot of Villa talk about that day as being very hairy...Now i know it was very moody but to be honest our little lot had a great day out....but generally Villa were very disorganised that day with lots of little firms split up all over the place but West Ham didnt have it all their own way by any means and Villa didnt get the respect that they deserved in my opinion especially in your mans book.

One stab plunged into 17-year-old Neil Jackson's right lung - while another deeper gash missed his heart by just an inch. The attackers also smashed a bottle over his legs and arms.

Halifax Town - Manchester City - FA Cup - ??/01/1980
Source: Halifax Courrier
A seething mass of Halifax fans marched through the town on a victory parade after Saturday's match a the Shay.
Police made more than forty arrests most of them after the game. Traffic was brought to a halt and shoppers left panic stricken as Manchester City supporters were chased towards the Cross Fields bus station.
Wood, bottles and bricks were hurled by the visitors in George square and ony the use of dozens of police with dogs prevented a battle.
The rampage lasted for more than half an hour until all the fans were persuased to board buses and trains for home.
At the final whistle, angry City fans chanting 4allison out' poured out of the ground at the Shay club end and ran out into Shawn Hill, jumping over hedges. A group of some 450 City fans headed straight for the town centre with 500 Town fans hot on their heels. Traffic came to a halt as scuffles broke out in the road and on the foothpath outside the swimming baths. The two groups charged each other but no one was serioulsy hurt.
Of 44 arrested, 223 came from Manchester and 21 from Halifax.

Palace V Brighton 5/4/1980
Got an early start on a Party 7. Sh*t did it taste rank at seven in the morning, but today was a special day, it was Brighton. Arranged to meet a few mates in the buffet bar at East Croydon for 8.30am, so we could have a gander at the Brighton as we thought we might take a pop at a few of the early arrivals.
Arrived at East Croydon at about 8.45am and found my mates at the corner where the post office is. Wondering what the hell they where doing there then, as I got up to them, I turned to where a lot of noise was coming from.
Outside East Croydon, there must of been 200+ hard-looking fuc*ers drinking away and having a laugh amongst themselves. I turned to my mates and said 'Fu*k this, let's go meet the others'.
We had arranged to meet other Palace in the centre of Croydon and along the way little mobs of Palace started to join us and we were turning into quite a tasty sized firm. We had a run-in with some brighton by the Forum pub, which used to be in the whitgift centre.
Give them their due, they never realised how many of us there was, and fought for as long as they could. One of them either jumped or was pushed from the first floor, and I honestly thought he was fuc*ed, but he just picked himself up and ran off towards the rest of the Brighton.
Well we all met up as planned, must of been 250/300 of us now. Imagine the sound of all 300 singing 'We hate Brighton' through the Alders arcade, so we decided to head back to East Croydon and kick it off.
We had all split up in different groups on both sides of George street and somewhere in the road. Big mistake going back to East Croydon as there was hundreds of the scum there well out-numbering us by say three to one.
Still we were up for it and carried on only to be diverted by the Old Bill and sent down Dingwell Road. A few of the BHA saw us and stampeded down towards us, but there were too many plod.
About ten of us dodged the Old Bill and in groups of two and three and headed for the Ralilway Tavern which was oppossite East Croydon Station. The best sight we ever saw over the next hour, was what our rivalry is all about as more and more Brighton kept pouring out of East Croydon Station and just collecting there.
There were so many that most were on the road and in the end the Old Bill closed it. Things were getting a bit uncomfortable where we were, and so we decided our safest bet was to get the fu*k clean out of there.
We dodged our way by using the subway which led us into Cherry Orchard Road. We stopped at the Horse and Groome, which had about 50 Palace in it and told them what we had seen at East Croydon and said we were going to Selhurst and see if we could pick off any BHA on the way.
Some came and some stayed saying that the BHA wouldn't come their way they would be diverted towards west Croydon and on to Whitehorse Road. Much the same at the next pub, The Cherry Orchard, and we went to the last pub, The Leslie Arms, where we decided to have a light ale or two.
About 20 mins later, someone from outside shouted have a look at this. So outside we went, and believe me, I have never seen anything like it in my life.
There were thousands of Brighton comming down Cherry Orchard Road. All you could see was a sea of Blue and white, with a bit of red and yellow mixed in. I felt for the Palace who we saw in the pubs on the way down, 'cos all you could here was glass breaking as the scum went passed. That was a firm and a half.
The Old Bill advised us to move on and to go up to the Wonderloaf, and turn right into Whitehorse Road, and then continue on to the ground. They said all the Brighton where heading this way and they estimated several thousand.
I'm game for most things but fu*k that lot, so we did the right thing and fu*ked off, kept looking around as all you could hear was the BHA. Not only that would you take your eye off of several thousand BHA?
Anyway in the distance we notice a mob of 250, by now we numbered the same so we ran at them, and they ran at us, turned out they were Palace too. So now we numbered around 500, a right nice firm too.
We carried on down Whitehorse Road until we got to the Big Gloucester, that's where the road splits into five ways. No sooner had we reached there, were when we were hit by all five roads, there was Brighton everywhere.
We had no choice but to have it on our toes, and all went out different ways. The Old Bill were soon on the scene, and ordered what was left of us to go straight to the ground.
It was only 1 o'clock too. On getting there, we were the first Palace in the Holmesdale, but also in there were about 50 BHA.
We did what we had to do and run 'em, right down to the pitch, and across they went, for the last big shock of the day, a sea of blue and white, appeared from nowhere in the Whitehorse Lane end and just poured down the terrace.
If they had managed to get across that pitch then I wouldn't be writing this now. As you can imagine there were offs all day and into the night, even went off in Surrey Street Market, but hey that's another story ...

I remember going to Pompey on a special train - all 600 seats sold and a few more! - we got beaten 4-1 and were kept in the ground for over 40 minutes to clear the mob waiting outside, it was a bit hairy through the game as the old open end was not really segregated and fighting was breaking out all over, we kept a low profile. The journey back began badly as a volley of bricks shattered several windows, then the train broke down with no heating, we eventually got back to Bradford about midnight and sprinted for the late bus.

Before the game started the cry of 'come and have a go if you think you're hard enough' from our boys as we thrust our silk scarved wrists in the air, beckoning.... anyway, they did come and have a go, they did think they were hard enough... and before you knew it the Mini Stand became Wales-by-the-Sea. It may be my bad memory but I believe they were helped by a large contingent of their lot getting into the stand before the game unannounced and then showing their true colours when the chant went up.

Celtic Glasgow - Glasgow Rangers - Cup Final - 10/05/1980
Source: Press
Area intifada explosed inside the stadium and especially on the pitch. After these violent riots, it was forbidden to sell alcohol inside scottish football stadiums.
**************************
Source : Wikipedia
Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers contested the match, which Celtic won 1–0 after extra time. Rioting after the end of the match, involving both sets of supporters, resulted in the sale of alcohol being banned at sporting events in Scotland.
*** The match is also remembered for a riot that followed its conclusion,[3] which BBC News described in 2011 as the "most infamous case of disorder" in an Old Firm match.[4] Rival fans battled on the Hampden Park pitch and mounted police attempted to defuse the trouble, which was largely attributed to the excessive consumption of alcohol.[3]
After winning the match, the Celtic players went to celebrate with their supporters, as was the normal practice.[1] The SFA had given both teams permission to parade the Scottish Cup trophy on the pitch after the match, as they had recently installed a 10 foot high perimeter fence around Hampden.[5] Some of the Celtic supporters climbed over the perimeter fences and joined the players on the pitch.[1][2][5] An investigation by the SFA executive committee found that this initial invasion of the pitch was "a spontaneous, if misguided, expression of joy."[5][6]
Some of the Rangers fans had stayed behind, despite their team's defeat, to verbally abuse their opponents.[5] One of the Celtic fans ran to the end of the stadium inhabited by the Rangers fans, and kicked a ball into the goal at that end.[1] In response to this, some Rangers fans invaded the pitch to charge at the Celtic fans, who in turn confronted their rivals.[1][5]Bricks, bottles and cans were soon being thrown along with fans using iron bars and wooden staves from terracing frames as weapons. The police had insufficient manpower inside the stadium to quell the disorder.[1][5] Match commentator Archie MacPherson described the riot as follows:[1]
“ This is like a scene now out of Apocalypse Now ... We've got the equivalent of Passchendaele and that says nothing for Scottish football. At the end of the day, let's not kid ourselves. These supporters hate each other. ”
Both clubs were fined £20,000 after the events and more than 200 arrests were made in the Hampden area.[5] Celtic blamed Strathclyde Police for their handling of the riot.[1] The vast majority of the police officers on duty were outside the ground after the match, to prevent any trouble in the streets surrounding Hampden Park.[1] The police and the SFA had assumed that the perimeter fences would prevent fans from invading the pitch, but they were later described as being completely inadequate.[1][5] The police blamed Celtic fans for the disorder, a position Rangers concurred with.[1] In response, Celtic cited the underlying hostility between the two sets of fans, caused by the sectarianism in Glasgow.[1] Celtic chairman Desmond White also cited the fact that Celtic fielded a mixture of Catholics and Protestants in their team, inferring that the problem was not caused by his club.[1]
George Younger, the Secretary of State for Scotland, blamed alcohol and the actions of the Celtic players for the riot.[5] An Act of Parliament was passed that banned the sale ofalcoholic beverages within Scottish sports grounds.[3] The ban was partially lifted in 2007 by Cabinet Secretary for Justice Kenny MacAskill, to allow the sale of alcohol at internationalrugby union matches played at Murrayfield Stadium.[3][7] The Scottish Rugby Union had lobbied the Scottish Parliament for the law to be changed, as they believed that they had lost out on the right to host the 2003 Challenge Cup Final due to it.[8] Subsequent to the easing of the ban, Motherwell chairman John Boyle called for it to be lifted entirely.[9] Ahead of the 2011 Scottish League Cup Final, it was reported by the Scotland On Sunday that VIP hospitality packages could be purchased allowing "unlimited" consumption of alcohol at bars within Hampden Park.[10] These transactions do not contravene the legislation because the sale of alcohol is still permitted in hospitality areas with no direct sight of the pitch.[
