Champions League chaos sees 53 arrested outside Wembley as fans rush turnstiles and invade pitch



Individuals were seen rushing the plush Club Wembley entrances at the stadium in North London before Borussia Dortmund face off against Real Madrid in football's biggest club game.

Shocking footage from outside the ground showed mayhem as people jumped over security fences and pushed through ticket gates.

Met Police confirmed their officers made 53 arrests around the Champions League final.

After the ugly scenes outside the ground, the start of the game was also marred when three pitch invaders entered the playing field.

The three fans were hauled off by security and the game was restarted - with one stopping to take a selfie with Madrid star and goalscorer Vinicius Jr.

On site, there remains debris from smoke bombs, tear gas and glass. Around 150 supporters from Saint-Etienne and Metz met around midday, this Sunday, June 2, behind Metz station to do battle. The national police quickly intervened. To disperse the crowd, the police used tear gas. Some supporters took refuge in the Indigo Pompidou parking lot.

At least five individuals were taken care of and brought back to the Metz police headquarters.

German police fear up to 500 Serbian football hooligans will try to cause violence at England's first men's game of Euro 2024 on Sunday.

Gareth Southgate's side will play Serbia in the 'high risk' tie on Sunday evening in the Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen, home to German side Schalke.

It is estimated some 40,000 Britons will make the trek to support their team at the game, compared to between 5,000 and 8,000 Serbian fans.

But local police chiefs are wary, with the city's boss Peter Both telling the Guardian his officers were expecting 'up to 400 or 500 ­violence-seeking ­Serbian ­hooligans will travel to ­Germany'.

Mr Both said: 'The biggest challenge for us will be to identify violent, disruptive groups at an early stage, to separate them from peaceful and law-abiding fans.'

England and Serbia fans clash in violent bar fight as chairs thrown and police intervene

A running battle between England and Serbia fans broke out this afternoon in Gelsenkirchen.

Hundreds of armed police rushed to Weberstrasse after a brawl saw tables and chairs thrown. I counted a total of 22 police vans in attendance as officers ran past me toward the station. England fans inside the Post Hornchun pub sang songs as the police ran by.

One England fan and seven Serbs are facing criminal charges and tournament bans after the brawl involving 50 people before Sunday’s game between the two countries.

The violence in central Gelsenkirchen, in western Germany, erupted after England fans had sought to enter a steakhouse full of Serbia supporters, German police have said.

One English fan was treated at hospital but discharged himself to attend the game at the 50,000-capacity Arena AufSchalke. England won 1-0 after a header from Jude Bellingham in the 13th minute.

Fans fight in stadium before Turkey v Georgia Euro 2024 match

Fighting broke out among fans inside the Dortmund BVB Stadion before the Euro 2024 match between Turkey and Georgia on Tuesday.

Around 40 fans from each set of supporters were involved in the brief scuffles and police moved in between them, a Reuters reporter inside the stadium said.
