Police arrest nine after Manchester United beat Leeds

"There was no significant disorder but there were a few incidents in Leeds City Centre ahead of the game and some minor incidents throughout the game," West Yorkshire Police said in a statement.

"Officers were deployed in sufficient numbers to rapidly intervene to identify and arrest the people responsible and prevent any escalation in disorder."

Football supporters’ clubs will be shut down in Greece for five months as part of a crackdown announced Monday, triggered by the murder of a 19-year-old who was stabbed and beaten to death by football hooligans in the northern city of Thessaloniki.

The 1 February murder of Thessaloniki resident Alkis Kambanos has shocked the city and football fans nationwide — in a country that has struggled to tame sport related violence and corruption for decades.

Ten people have been arrested in connection with the attack.

Takis Theodorikakos, a minister for public order, said the new measures would include tougher jail terms and sentencing guidelines for organised sport related violence, adding that supporters clubs would be allowed to reopen only after 31 July following an extensive review of the operation rules and the introduction of a new operating framework.

“Hooliganism is a global scourge that is responsible for the death of dozens of people. We must join forces, the government, political parties, football teams, and players. No one has the right to be absent from this effort to confront the violence,” Theodorikakos said.

The Lisbon Police Force has identified dozens of Ajax ultras who had a confrontation with locals in the city centre on Tuesday night.

The Lisbon Police Force (PSP) has searched and identified dozens of Ajax ultras who tried to confront four Portuguese locals in the capital's city centre on Tuesday night.

"They were respectful to the authority", said the head of the PSP, who highlighted that "between 60 and 70 people" were searched and identified in the Baixa district of Lisbon "and afterwards they went to their hotels", with no one being detained.
Those identified were dressed in black and seen to be Ajax 'Casuals'.

Various levels of police will be in attendence in and around the 'Estadio Da Luz' this Wednesday, where Benfica host Ajax in the Champions League round of 16.

Ultras from the Rhone club would have lynched a supporter of Canet-en-Roussillon on the sidelines of the round of 16 of the Coupe Gambardella, Sunday, between the Canet RFC and OL.

But the situation degenerated at the exit of the stadium. Before returning to the Rhône, members of the group of Lyon supporters reportedly beat up a 17-year-old Canet-en-Roussillon supporter because he was wearing an Olympique de Marseille jersey. His personal effects (airpods, wallet, etc.) were also stolen. Part of it was found by the gendarmerie, who managed to block the Lyonnais bus.
