Rangers vs Wigan ‘friendly’ mass brawl sees two men injured as football fans fight in street before throwing bottles and chairs at cops
TWO men were injured after bottle-throwing football fans erupted in a Glasgow street rammy after last night’s Rangers clash against Wigan.
British Transport Police reported more than 70 fans were involved in a disturbance outside Glasgow Central Station.
Shocking video footage appeared on social media showing the mass brawl on Hope Street at 6.40pm on Sunday evening.
Officers armed with batons could be seen trying to break up the violent street fight as thugs lob wooden boards, outdoor tables and bottles at each other.
More than 10 police motors swooped in on Hope Street and Gordon Street after Wigan fans arrived at the station.
Now Police Scotland have confirmed that two men were assaulted and hurt in the rammy.
They received treatment for minor injuries.
And cops area teaming with British Transport Police to conduct a probe into what happened.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We were called to reports of a large scale disturbance on Hope Street, close to Argyle Street at 6.40pm on Sunday evening.
“Two men were assaulted and recieved minor injuries as a result.
“They received medical treatment for their injuries.
“We are now working with British Transport Police as our enquiries into this incident continue.”

Three members of a Russian football hooligan group have been detained after a man was killed in a brawl between fans outside a Moscow train station.
Investigators said they launched a case into manslaughter late last week after a drunken fight broke out on the platform of the Kursky station. A 30-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The fight’s organizer was detained by police within 15 minutes,” the Interior Ministry’s transportation department wrote on Friday.
"The brawl reportedly took place between CSKA Moscow fans who were headed to their club’s away game in Nizhny Novgorod, Interfax cited an anonymous source as saying.
The Mash Telegram channel named the victim as Igor Sokolovsky, saying he was one of two passengers beaten by a group of 20 football hooligans.
Interfax reported on Tuesday that the leader of the Einfach Jugend ultras group of CSKA fans had been detained in connection with the deadly brawl along with another suspect. A third has been placed under house arrest. They face charges of hooliganism and infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in death.
