Sheffield Wednesday - Sheffield United - 24/09/2017

Source : Th Star

Eleven arrested in derby day disorder in Sheffield

Police made 11 derby day arrests in Sheffield in an operation involving hundreds of officers drafted in to keep fans safe. South Yorkshire Police said they were arrested for a number of offences including public order. Officers also issued 35 dispersal orders to fans deemed at risk of causing or becoming embroiled in disorder. They were banned from certain areas and anyone found breaching them faced arrest. Nine pubs also closed early yesterday because of disorder or concerns that violence between rival fans could have flared. The game between Sheffield Wednesday and United, at Hillsborough, was the first in over five years. Chief Superintendent Shaun Morley, Sheffield's District Commander, said: “Yesterday's large-scale police operation has seen a number of officers working to manage and police the Sheffield derby football match. “The operation required coordination from a number of local authority partners, transport services, football clubs and teams from across the force, who all worked together to make yesterday possible. “The overall purpose of this work was to ensure the event ran successfully and members of the public were kept safe. These aims were achieved and I would personally like to thank everyone for their involvement. I would also like to thank and acknowledge all of the fans who cooperated with us throughout the day and allowed us to do our job. “There were a small minority of individuals who came intent on causing disruption and action was taken to address and prevent this type of behaviour. “Over the course of the operation we have made 11 arrests for a variety of offences including public order, issued 35 Dispersal Orders and worked with a number of licensed premises, which saw nine public houses voluntarily close. This action was taken to avert disorder across the city and send out a clear message that violence will not be tolerated. “I would like to thank all of the officers for their hard work and dedication as they made the whole operation possible. I hope the match was enjoyed by everyone and that our high visibility presence provided reassurance. Our main priority remains keeping the people of South Yorkshire safe and we will always work to achieve this.”

Egypt: 14 Zamalek Club fans sentenced and 2 acquitted in Air Defense Stadium violence case - 24/09/2017

Source : https://www.madamasr.com/en/2017/09/24/news/u/14-zamalek-club-fans-sentenced-and-2-acquitted-in-air-defense-stadium-violence-case/

Fourteen Zamalek Club fans implicated in the Air Defense Stadium violence case were sentenced to prison on Sunday by the North Cairo Criminal Court, and two others were acquitted. The case stems clashes which killed at least 20 football fans in February 2015.

The prosecution accused defendants of belonging to the banned Muslim Brotherhood group, thuggery, premeditated murder, vandalism, attacking security forces and the possession of explosives.

Defense lawyer Mokhtar Mounir told Mada Masr that all defendants were cleared of belonging to the Brotherhood and premeditated murder. Those who were sentenced were indicted on charges of thuggery, vandalism and the possession of explosives, among other charges.

He added that the 14 who were sentenced will appeal the court’s decision within 60 days, in accordance with Egypt’s criminal procedures law.

The court issued two life sentences and LE20,000 fines to Mostafa Abdel Meguid and Fathi Rafee in absentia. Three defendants, Mohamed Shahat al-Abbasy, Yasser Othman Abdel Azim and Ashraf Hamdan Qassem received 10-year sentences and LE10,000 fines, and five more, Al-Sayed Ali Fahim, Ramadan Saad Sayed, Mostafa Mahmoud Khairy, Omar Sherif Hosni and Mostafa Hamdy Abdel Naby, were given also handed a LE10,000 fine alongside seven-year prison sentences. Defendant Saber Ali Abdelwahed was issued a five-year sentence, and Amgad Mohamed al-Esseily was issued a three-year sentence while Shabaan Aboul Eit was sentenced to three years in absentia. Ahmed Ali Abdel Azim was given two years in prison, and the court acquitted Gamal Abdel Nasser Khalil and Omar Salah Youssef Mabrouk.

Lawyer Mohamed Fathi, also a member of the defense team, told Mada Masr that Aboul Eit is a minor who was tried in absentia for theft. As he had previously been acquitted, and had not attended any subsequent court sessions. “Aboul Eit watched the game then left the stadium. He was arrested later on the ring road after getting into an argument with a tuk tuk driver,” the lawyer said. He added that Abdel Azim who received two years in prison, was sentenced on charges of sheltering fugitives.

In post published on his personal Facebook account on Sunday, Fathi said that as all defendants were acquitted of murder charges, the court should open a new investigation to determine who is responsible for the February deaths. He referenced accusations of involvement leveled by some victims’ families against Zamalek Club president and member of Parliament, Mortada Mansour, and Mohamed Ibrahim, who was the interior minister at the time of the incident. He added that the prosecution repeatedly requested Mansour’s presence at court for questioning, but he did not attend as Parliament refused to lift his parliamentary immunity.

The incident at the Air Defense Stadium unfolded on February 8, 2015 when Zamalek fans attempted to enter the stadium to attend a game between the Zamalek Club and the ENPPI Club. Clashes broke out as security forces fired tear gas canisters at the fans, claiming they were attempting to enter the stadium without valid tickets.

An eyewitness previously told Mada Masr that a recently constructed metal corridor into the stadium obstructed the way for fans who were trying to escape the tear gas. A stampede broke out as fans tried to flee, killing at least 20 and injuring dozens of others.

According to lawyer Malek Adly, many lawyers have criticized the investigation into the stadium violence, and the Zamalek Football Club’s hardcore fan group, the Ultras White Knights, and the families of several of the victims have accused Mansour of being responsible for the deaths. However, these assertions were ignored by the prosecution throughout the trial, Adly added.

In a statement issued on Saturday, ahead of the sentencing, the Ultras White Knights insisted that the purpose of the case was to “redirect suspicion from the real murderer, who enjoys his freedom while Zamalek fans are tried unjustly in his stead.” The fan association called for the acquittal of all defendants, and demanded justice for those who were killed.

The statement called the proceedings a “show trial,” asserting that “It is well known who fired tear gas at Zamalek fans trapped in a place enclosed on three sides … And it is known who withheld tickets from the crows in order to instigate clashes with security forces in an ambush.”

Lincoln City - NOtts County - 23/09/2017

Source : http://thelincolnite.co.uk

Three arrested as Lincoln City fans wreak havoc on trains after losing to Notts County

Three people have been arrested following reports of disorderly behaviour by Lincoln City fans following the following Imps’ 4-1 defeat against Notts County.

On Saturday, September 23 British Transport Police officers responded to an incident of disorder at Nottingham railway station after the match, which saw over 4,000 Imps make the trip down.

This led to their officers and police dogs travelling back to Lincoln railway station.

Of the three arrested, two men have been charged and will appear at Lincoln District Magistrates Court on October 23 and a third man released under investigation.

Lincolnshire Police were not involved in this policing operation until they received an urgent assistance call from a British Transport Police officer after the arrival of the first train in Lincoln as a consequence of the disorderly behaviour of a minority of fans directed towards BTP officers.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “Local single crewed officers who were already on duty, including CID, all of whom were carrying out their normal duties, immediately attended the railway station to support their BTP colleagues and were themselves immediately subjected to aggressive threats and criminal behaviour.

“We are aware that a fight broke out on the second train back between Lincoln fans and there was further disorder at the railway station on Lincoln High Street, with objects, including barriers being thrown.”

Lincolnshire Police Superintendent Lee Pache, said: “We must be clear, there is no excuse for the violent and aggressive behaviour originally shown to the BTP officers upon the arrival of the first train and subsequently local police officers who, until then, had been dealing with local incidents and victims of crime.

“Three public order arrests were made which are being investigated by BTP.

“Of the three arrested, two men have been charged and will appear at Lincoln District Magistrates Court on October 23 and a third man released under investigation.

“Those responsible for football related crime and disorder are in the minority, with 99% of football fans only interested in enjoying the beautiful game with their family and friends.

“It is our intention to work with Lincoln City Football Club and their fans to identify offenders and prevent further incidents. Importantly, we will not let the actions of the few change our view that true fans do not need policing, but until the few stop committing crime, we will have to continue to spend significant taxpayers funds seeking to minimise the threat of crime and disorder.”

Anyone with any information should call 101, quoting incident number 410 of September 23.

SSC Napoli - Feyenoord Rotterdam - 26/09/2017

Source : https://nltimes.nl/

THREE FEYENOORD FANS ARRESTED IN NAPELS

Three 21-year-old Feyenoord fans were arrested in Naples during the early hours of Tuesday morning. The Dutch men are accused of throwing stones at police officers, among other things. They are in custody, NU.nl reports.

Feyenoord is playing against Napoli in a Champions League match in Naples on Tuesday night. No Feyenoord fans are welcome at the match. The Naples provincial government forbade the Italian club from selling tickets to Dutch fans. The Italian authorities conducted a risk analysis and concluded that Feyenoord fans combined with Napoli fans pose a major threat to public order and security. Napoli will have access control at the match, and all attendees will have to show their ID. Dutch who managed to get hold of a ticket, will not be allowed to enter the stadium.

According to the newspaper, an unknown number of Feyenoord supporters still traveled to Naples. Many supporters booked the trip before they knew that they were not welcome at the match.

The Rotterdam football team announced its dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in talks with Napoli, the police and UEFA on Monday.

In 2015 Feyenoord supporters caused a large amount of damage in Rome during riots after a match against AS Roma. One fan was sentenced to 18 months in prison, six of which conditionally suspended. And 43 others were given community services.

There were also incidents during and after a match between Feyenoord and AS Roma in Rotterdam. In response, UEFA fined Feyenoord 50 thousand euros and put the team on probation for three years. If any incidents occur in that probation period, Feyenoord will play one match without an audience.

The match between Feyenoord and Napoli kicks off at 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

RSC Anderlecht - Celtic Glasgow - 27/09/2017

Source : http://www.the42.ie/

Anderlecht warn Celtic fans that they risk being arrested if they don't have a match ticket

ANDERLECHT HAS advised Celtic fans not to travel for Wednesday night’s Champions League game unless they have a ticket, and warned that they risk arrest if they do so.
Large numbers of travelling fans are expected in Brussels for the Group B clash, but tickets are in short supply with a capacity of just 21,500 in the Belgian club’s home ground, the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.
In a statement on Monday, Anderlecht said that they “would like to remind all fans of Celtic FC who will be making the trip to Brussels that it is mandatory to be in possession of a valid match ticket when they are present in the territory of Anderlecht or the neigbouring community of Sint-Gillis/Saint-Gilles.
“All Celtic supporters who can’t show a valid match ticket when asked by the authorities, risk being arrested.”
Earlier this month, kick-off in a Europa League match between Arsenal and Cologne was delayed by an hour after an estimated 20,000 German fans travelled to London, despite the fact that the club received just 2,900 tickets in their official allocation.

Uganda: SC Vipers - SC Villa - 24/09/2017

Source : https://www.chimpreports.com/hooligans-masqueraded-as-fans-to-dent-our-image-sc-villa/

Hooligans Masqueraded as Fans to Dent our Image – SC Villa

In an Azam Uganda Premier League game played at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitemde between hosts SC Vipers and visitors SC Villa, violent scenes were witnessed at the Stadium.

Rowdy SC Villa fans inflicted a lot of damages to the stadium, which are expected to be over Shs10 million.

The Club at the giving-end has come out with a statement, explaining the unfortunate incident at Kitende.

“SC Villa Jogoo wishes to condemn the acts of hooliganism at the concluded game against Vipers on Saturday, 23rd September 2017 at Kitende,” writes SC Villa CEO Valley Mugwanya.

“We wish to express our concern at people masquerading as Club Sponsors to dent SC Villa image.”

The game in question was won by hosts SC Vipers following the lone strike by former KCCA FC player Tom Masiko at the half-hour mark.

Villa fans threw water bottles filled with urine to the VIP section, sang obscene songs and broke the Stadium’s fence when referee Alex Muhabi denied their club a penalty after Shafic Bakaki seemed to have handled the ball inside the penalty area.

“We blame the police for having failed to manage the few people who were ring leaders in the act of hooliganism, throwing bottles onto the pitch and VIP section which the police failed to arrests the culprits,” further reads the statement.

Mugwanya ended the statement claiming that SC Villa management had no involvement in all acts of hooliganism and violence caused that day.

SC Villa is now seventh on the Azam Uganda Premier League table with just 4 points collected from their 3 league games; winning one, drawing one and losing the other.

Next on SC Villa’s menu is an Azam Premier League home game against Mbarara City at Masaka Recreation ground on Saturday September 30.

Manchester United issue warning to fans travelling to Moscow that Russian police will be ‘less than tolerant’ of hooliganism - 25/09/2017

Source : The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED have issued a warning to supporters travelling to Moscow for the Champions League clash with CSKA.

It comes after the Russian football association said they will take a hardline approach to fans who who cause trouble in the capital city.

About 2,000 United supporters are expected to travel to Wednesday's game - and they have been told NOT to wear club colours.

United will provide buses for supporters to and from the VEB Arena in an attempt to avoid potential confrontation.

But Vladimir Markin, the head of the Russian Football Union's security committee, issued a stern warning to travelling fans - saying they could even face prison time.

He said: "I don't want to scare anyone but I warn those who plan to come here not to support their side and see the country but to commit hooliganism: the law is the same for all, not just for Russians.

"Those who break it will face a suitable punishment, possibly in the form of a long stay in Russia, in conditions our guests won't like."

United asked their fans to ensure their behaviour is "impeccable" at all times.
