Eight fans taken to hospital after barrier collapses at Eibar match
Eight football fans were taken to hospital in Spain on Saturday after a barrier collapsed at La Liga side Eibar's Ipurua stadium as Sevilla supporters celebrated a goal during a 3-1 win.
'In the end, and pending confirmation from the emergency services, eight Sevilla supporters have been taken to Mendaro hospital. None of the injuries are serious,' said Eibar in a statement on their official Twitter account.
The barrier collapsed as douzens of travelling supporters standing behind the goal spilled on to the pitch after Ever Banega converted a penalty in the 58th minute to put Sevilla 2-0 up.
Play was stopped for eight minutes while stewards and emergency services attended the supporters.
In a message on Twitter, Sevilla dedicated the win to the fans affected.
'Three goals and three more points in Ipurua,' said the club.
'The victory is dedicated to our supporters who suffered today in the accident in the stand. We hope they recover soon.'

St Pauli fans greeted with stink bombs before match at Hamburg
It was a stinker, both on and off the pitch.
After being relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time last season, Hamburg came up against city rivals St Pauli in the second division - their first meeting in seven years.
The build-up to the derby was overshadowed by violent clashes with police involved, and match day did not pass without foul play either.
German newspaper Bild reported stink bombs had been used at the station in Bahrenfeld, where St Pauli fans would get off to walk to the game, leaving a "beastly" smell in the area.
Many St Pauli supporters had to cover their noses as they arrived at the ground - there were reports of stink bombs being used in the away block, and a local newspaper said excrement had been spread on the floor near the away fans' entrance.
Hamburg police deployed 1,500 officers for the 57,000 crowd at the Volksparkstadion stadium.

Crowd trouble and collapsed gate mars Montpellier's derby win over Nîmes
Montpellier’s 3-0 home win against their local rival Nîmes was interrupted for more than 30 minutes after a crowd disturbance late in the second half.
After striker Gaëtan Laborde’s header made it 3-0 in the 79th minute, a crowd commotion caused the referee to halt the game and lead the players off the field. Around 80 riot police came on to stop a section of Montpellier fans from getting across to confront Nîmes supporters.
Several Montpellier players went over to their angry fans in a bid to calm them down. When the players came back out, Montpellier’s stadium announcer pleaded with home fans not to cause any more trouble or risk being stripped of the three points by the Ligue 1’s’s disciplinary committee.
Earlier, a metal gate gave way in the 29th minute after Montpellier fans celebrated the second goal, sending a few of them spilling on to the pitch and causing the match to be delayed for the first time. Reports said two fans sustained light injuries.
The southern French sides are about one hour apart by car and have a hostile rivalry. Earlier this year, Nîmes fans took a longstanding stadium banner used by Montpellier’s “ultras” supporters at home games and appeared to goad them by unfurling it after the third Montpellier goal.

Montpellier fans SPRAYED by riot police after fence collapses as derby clash with Nimes is delayed by more than 30 minutes
MONTPELLIER's 3-0 home win over local rivals Nimes was marred by crowd trouble - with the game interrupted for more than 30 minutes after being stopped twice.
With 11 minutes left on the clock, masses of Montpellier supporters behind the goal attempted to gain entry to the pitch and confront the travelling contingent after Gaetan Laborde’s headed goal.
The referee was forced to intervene and lead the players off the field immediately.
Around 80 riot police came on to the field immediately to stop this from occurring.
Video footage has since circulated on social media of security spraying an unknown substance in an attempt to halt the situation.
However, the Montpellier fans didn't take too kindly to that, and responded by throwing metal poles on to the field of play - as well as launching smoke grenades into the air.
The home fans had also unveiled several banners in an attempt to antagonise the travelling Nimes contingent.
Earlier in the match, a metal gate gave way as Montpellier fans celebrated the opening goal by Ambroise Oyongo.
This resulted in several supporters spilling on to the pitch - causing an initial seven-minute interruption.
Early reports have indicated two fans suffered light injuries.
Several Montpellier players went over to their angry fans in a bid to diffuse the situation.
When the players eventually came back out, Montpellier’s stadium announcer pleaded with home fans not to cause any more trouble - or risk being stripped of the three points by the league's disciplinary committee.
This fell in deaf ears with the aforementioned incident occurring late on - as the first 'Languedoc derby' in 25 years was ultimately overshadowed by the crowd commotion.
The incidents could lead to sanctions for second-placed Montpellier, who are now nine points behind runaway leaders and champions PSG who saw Neymar hit a brace in a 3-0 win at Nice on Saturday.

France : Investigation after Nice fan 'attacked by police' before Montpellier match - 28/09/2018
Source : http://www.espn.in/
Police have told ESPN FC an investigation has begun into allegations that officers knocked a Nice supporter unconscious, leaving him with a broken nose, at a Ligue 1 game last weekend.
The fan, named by newspaper Nice-Matin as Christophe B, was allegedly assaulted by riot police after arriving at Montpellier's stadium.
As well as the broken nose, he suffered another facial fracture around his eye and medical examinations showed he had been concussed in an incident that is now being looked at by France's police investigation unit.
"The police met us at a motorway rest stop and took us to the Stade de la Mosson," Christophe B told Nice-Matin.
"They were very professional and there was no problem. I was searched and had my little bottle of alcohol. A steward said to me: 'You're not going in with that, so if you want to drink it, you finish it here.' And so I did.
"During that time, another police officer did not stop insulting me and promised me I wouldn't get into the stadium, all of it gratuitous. I didn't answer him. Verbal provocation isn't a problem for me.
"The steward told me to stay where I was and only talk to him. So I threw away my bottle as I went in and the police officer insulted me again: 'Get out of here! You're not coming in.'
"It was then that I answered back and asked him to talk better to me. The policeman grabbed me by the throat and pushed me back several metres before pinning me to the fence. I found myself surrounded by 10 riot police.
"At the start, I let it happen, then I reacted. I tried to take his hand away, which was strangling me, and it was then I started taking punches. I couldn't move. I tried to defend myself. It lasted 30, 40 seconds before I lost consciousness."
The fan said he still had marks from the officers' shoes on his face and that there had been blood on his arm and face, as well as a "big pool" of it in front of him, when he regained consciousness.
After spending more than 30 hours in custody, he appeared before a court on Monday accused of aggravated assault by the police.
However, after the judge was shown video footage, he was released without charge and filed a complaint against the police with the support of Nice.
"During the hearing, the presiding judge saw a video and it appears almost certainly that he received blows he shouldn't have received," Montpellier prosecutor Christophe Barret said.

Police treat Livingston coin incident as assault
Police in Livingston are treating an attack on a football official in West Lothian as assault.
Assistant referee Calum Spence was hit by an object thrown from the crowd during Livingston's Scottish Premiership win over Rangers on Sunday.
The incident happened in front of the Rangers fans in the early stages of the second half and play was stopped while Spence received treatment.
Officers want to speak to anyone at the game who witnessed the incident.
The assault happened at about 14:50. Mr Spence suffered a minor injury to the back of his head and was treated at the scene.
'No tolerance'
Supt Craig Smith, Event Commander for the match, said: "This is a shocking incident and it is not the type of behaviour we have come to expect from football fans in Scotland.
"We will not tolerate offences of this nature. With this in mind we are eager to trace the person who was spotted throwing an object from the stand.
"I would also ask anyone who has information that can assist our inquiries to get in touch with us immediately. "

Juventus risk penalty for racist Koulibaly chants
Italian champions Juventus could be hit with a partial closure of their Allianz Stadium after racist chanting was heard aimed at Napoli’s Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly during their game at the weekend.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported that all three Italian Football Federation (FIGC) observers in different parts of the stadium reported hearing Koulibaly targeted by the chanting.
Fans were also reported to have called Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti ‘a pig’, an insult which goes back to his coaching days at Juventus from 1999 to 2001.
As a result, the ‘Curva Sud’ could be closed for at least one game when the disciplinary report is released on Tuesday.
